I actually bought this tvi yesterday to use as a monitor and also to game on my xbox series x. The display is stunning. It is truely beautiful and needs to be kused to be appreciated as watching a review on youtube does not convey how stunning it is.
Nice quick overview Mike! Question: how far are you from the TV/Monitor when you are using your Mac? Do you feel like you are straining your eyes moving around because of the large real estate of the 42" screen?
Hi there! So I sit about 30" from the display which mitigates that effect. At this distance, it works really well. Then again, I was used to dual 27" panels, and in the past I've used a Dell 30" panel, so big displays aren't super unusual for me.
@@MikeLikesChannel Thanks for the reply! Also, I thought that someone else online wrote or uploaded something about using the PC input for his computer (Mac) in order to gain the higher refresh rate of above 60Hz, could you see if that works?
@@Goalier95 Yeah, so there’s a lot of misinformation out there. At this moment (June 2022), there’s no Mac on the market that will drive an external HDMI input above 60hz. Apple would probably support HDMI 2.1 on future models some day… but it’s not presently supported. And it’d most likely mean buying new hardware 😞. That being said, 60hz looks just fine for office work.
how come you have 'Mac' showing up when switching between different inputs? i'm struggling to set up for mac, and I'm using HDMI 2.1 to connect mac directly to the monitor, however i saw that you're using type C with a dock station?
Hello Sir, have you noticed a slight lag when using my mouse. I have searched Reddit to find an adjustment for this but I have had no luck. Also I’m using a PC not a Mac so I don’t know if that is going to make a difference. Other than that I agree this is a pretty awesome TV. I think the only con is the price, but like you said compared to similar monitors I think it’s right there… Thanks for the video and have a great day …
Interesting. I connect Dell Latitudes to the monitor too and the mouse doesn't seem to lag. I had to bump the mouse speed up quite a bit due to the size of the display, but yeah, it seems to work nicely.
Hi. What USB Hub do you use with your MBP? I have some trouble with my Caldigit TS3+ that cannot display signal on 42C2 from display port through DP to HDMI cable.
Hi March, I use a Dell WD19TB dock. It's not the best, and I occasionally need to reboot it (like maybe once a month it gets in a weird mood), but it does ok.
The Apple studio display is great, but comes in hundreds of dollars above the price of this panel. Especially since I’ve seen this tv near $1000 a few times. Black Friday sales… often include TVs. Apple monitors never see such a discount. No markdowns on Apple products in general. I’ve run the LG now for 1100 hours, mostly on static macOS desktop work, no burn in or issues seen. If Apple made a 40” or larger panel we could compare, but 27” vs 42” isn’t in the same category.
@@MikeLikesChannel I think 42 is too big for a monitor, 32 is the max. My neck hurts on too big monitors. And yes Apple current is overpriced but it worth, I hope the re-release a new 32 but less expensive that the XDR.
@@JohnSmith-zl8rz I thought 42 was too big at first too, being used to 27. So what I did was, I never use the entire 42 screen for productivity work. I resize the windows to a more 21:9 style ratio
