I installed one of my favorite games from back in the day, Postal 2 (which is on Steam but I got it on the low low from GOG for 99 cents for the ULTIMATE collection or whatever it's called) and it worked like a charm! You mentioned when you tried to install and around 7:45 you said it is easier than you have seen in videos. I think the HGL dev must have updated the app (most videos I saw were from March) so it doesn't go to that other screen now... it gives what you showed here. Just a thought.
Word of caution. For GOG, If you accidentally have your games spread between two accounts they will NOT all show up under the same library even after you've gone between the two & installed them. You have to physically sign into whichever account has the specific game you are looking to play. GOG also doesn't have the option to merge accounts or transfer games between the two.

I'm at my wit's end, when I click on the install path on Heroic to change to the SD card path I get a white screen which doesn't give me the option to change the path. It's definitely blue in Flatseal and pointing to the right place. Thanks in advance.

go to the settings for the game and there is a place to select the proton version. You just need to pick a specific proton version there. I usually pick a random Proton version and then change it back to experimental. Your game should launch then.
Can you load the cloud saves from GOG? I wasn’t able to do so. I’m just going to repurchase the few games I have on other stores/launchers, which was probably Valves plan all along 😂😂. But I don’t care because the Steam Deck is amazing.

I have GTAV on epic. And it was such a hassle to play on steamdeck OS. I totally think we should just install windows on a sdcard and that’s probably way easier
Do you have to have a Gog account to be able to install through heroic? I have a account but I also found some Gog .exe files online. How can I install those particular games?
can i get some help after changing the install path it takes me to a whitw page and wont let me select the ssd it just has my steam deck and i dont have enought storage on my normal steam deck to install the games i want any help would be appreciated thanks!
i found out how to bypass this, if you add the launcher to steam thru the non steam app section, you can open up the launcher normally on the steam deck and login thru that section it made it alot easier
Does 20XX work on the steam deck. I followed multiple videos including this one and I get an error when trying to open the game. Arkham City is fine so i know I did that one correctly.
I don't fully reccomend this if your not on windows OS. I tried running a game after a few minutes the screen started glitching then everything froze, I had to force restart
I have one small note: It looks like I was able to install games to the SD card, without using the Flatseal part, by simply manually setting the default installation path to SD card. Anyone know if that is a new feature of Heroic? I came across this idea while trying to set up Itch launcher and Flatseal won't let me allow installing its games to SD card. I ended up trying to set up the SD card path from Itch app and it worked.
I'VE ASKED AROUND RU-vid AND NOBODY CAN FIGURE THIS OUT BUT I BOUGHT A 2 TB EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE AND PUT A TERABYTE AND A HALF ONTO IT OF GAMES WHEN I TRY TO PUT THOSE GAMES BACK ON THE DECK THEY ARE ON THE SD CARD BUT WHEN YOU GO INTO GAMING MODE THEY AREN'T THERE AND WHEN I HIT INSTALL INSTEAD OF FINDING THE GAME LIKE IT DOES ON THE LAPTOP IT TRIES TO INSTALL THE FULL GAME FROM STEAM AGAIN WHAT AM I DOING WRONG PLEASE HELP ME
Oh let me try to help a bit. If you started a download on steam, then mid download transferred the files onto the hard drive, Steam will still be looking at the mid-progress download. ( To correct this, copy the complete game files and place them somewhere safe, Then tell steam to uninstall the mid download game. After that is complete move the copied files to where steam stores the games. Since Steam doesn't know you put the game there, tell it to download the game you copied over. It will start to download flicker to verify then finish up with finalization. On the Steam deck it will also download shader pre-catch. I still don't know where to find those files but that will be needed for the game to run. Sorry if it's hard to understand my wording on trying to give a guide. I'm not use to trying to help in the community but I thought I would give it a shot. Good luck and nice choice getting 2TB.

Did you already format the storage on the steam deck before adding games to it? It is my understanding that the steam deck will need to format your storage first and then you have to install games directly from there. You can't take the storage media and plug it into another computer. Other devices will be unable to read the contents.

@@allhandsonsteamdeck1440 Gotcha. It is my understanding that SteamOS currently is only able to read games from the Internal storage or MicroSD. It is unable to recognize storage (flash drives or external HD) attached to the USB-C input. VALVE needs to implement that feature I guess.
