They fight even better in warm water! A game fish that deserves respect. Many people confuse them with invasive "asian carp". These are common carp which have co-existed with popular game fish in our water systems since the 1800's. A hard fighting, challenging game fish to target.

Carp were introduced intentionally to the United States as a food fish, so they're not invasive. The invasive carp you're thinking of are Silver Carp, Bighead Carp, and Grass Carp. Although, grass carp can be intentionally stocked for weed control as long as they're sterile. If you're releasing a fish, it's best to take the utmost in care to ensure that your release wasn't in vain.

Carps got soft mouth there is not any necessarity for a trebble hook. Spraying some corn and jigging for them with a stinger looks like a method designed to failhook these fish. I enjoyed all your videos so far but this is simply unsporting.

Carp are weird. They behave vastly different in every watershed I've fished at. They're mad geniuses when it comes to figuring out their own waters. I've noticed that on a certain stretch of the Owens River, carp are really aggressive and will hit a wide variety of lures and baits. This area is rocky, has almost no grass, and is super muddy. On a lake 45 minutes away, the carp are scared of their own shadows and turn their noses up at every lure I've thrown at them, as well as nightcrawlers. I can only get them to bite on corn, scud imitations, and cottonwood seed imitations. This area is a muddy, sand bottom lake, with lots of grass and tules.

John - you've done proper carp fishing with Carl and Alex in the UK. You've had big carp caught on effective tactics. This ice fishing was not good. To use a lure based approach and only land carp that were foul hooked isn't kosha. Why not bring some of the European tactics (like hair rigged boilies or corn on a bolt rig) into play and avoid foul hooking the fish and having to brutally manhandle them out onto the ice? I really enjoy your videos, but like many Brits, find American handling of carp pretty tough to watch.

Im going to tell you as someone who watches your videos regularly and understands how youtube ranks videos, placing an ad at the hookset is going to piss people off and cost you view time more than intrigue them of what is coming next. Never ate carp! Always heard they was to bony! My Grandmas favorite fish was Grennal! Always heard they was to bony! You have to cook them right after catching! They both were good fighters though! Always let them go! My favorite fish in this order are Crappie, Walleye, Bass/Bluegill ,Catfish. But that is just me! Have a nice day!

I landed a 40lb carp out of the Ohio River from the riverbank a couple of summers back, the battle was just epic, you want to know the crazy thing, I was using a cheap zepco dock demon spinning combo spooled with 8lb berckley mono, a tiny splitshot sinker, size 10 octopus hook, and baited with 1 kernel of fresh frozen corn, the battle took over 30 minutes for me to land and it just kept peeling drag, I don't know how it didn't break off, couldn't believe a 10 dollar Wal-Mart rod would hold up like that, but I just took my time and it all worked out in the end.

Man, losing big fish sucks. If I filmed, only 1 percent of my fish would be big ones because I only catch about 6-7 noteworthy fish a year. I lost 4 salmon I estimate were over 20 lbs, lost countless trout over 4, a carp around 15, and sooo many others. Keep fishing, never stop.

I think you should go to St.Marys River State Park. Its in St marys county MD. Badass lake. 7.5 miles around. Rocks, trees growing strait out of the water. Shallow, deep. It would be a great place for an MTB slam.

Snagging carp under the ice, hmmmm. Why not just put a single hook on the bottom with some sweetcorn on it, surrounded by free-offerings, and just leave it there until the fish picks up the bait? If you're sat there jigging with a trailer treble you're 100% more likely to snag your fish in the body.

Hey Jawhn, I'm 23 from IL. Tie a lot of my own flies and do a lot of salmon/trout fishing in the great lakes tribs. I could teach you to tie up a fly and catch a fish on it if you're interested. Just let me know. Do a lot of local fishing for smallies, musky, and carp on the fly too.

If it’s the river that I think it is then the walleye bite there in the spring is amazing. I’ve fished that spot before so I kinda know the surroundings. Also that rig you were using is something you would use for walleye.
