Okay, lots of explaining to do here.
This store originally opened as Abraham & Straus (A&S) in 1965 and was equipped with an OTIS freight elevator. Here's a video of this elevator when it was OTIS: • Video
In 2015, a fire broke out in the freight elevator shaft, destroying everything and taking the freight elevator out of service for around 17 months. Newsday article here: www.newsday.com/long-island/n...
Needless to say, a complete modernization was needed. I assume Schindler did this as they have the contract for Macy's Inc. They probably got MEI to install this. It's kind of interesting to think that both elevators in this store received new motors at some time and they both probably sound better than their original motors. I got to ride this because the passenger elevator happened to be broken the day I visited the store.
PS: Make sure you listen to this motor through a system with good bass.
