Welcome to an underwater journey in the crystal-clear waters of Philippines! Last month I had an absolutely epic dive trip to Cebu, Philippines. The trip was organised by Manta Lodge dive centre and was a dedicated dive journey. We spent 7 nights at Magic Island Dive Resort in Moalboal (Cebu) doing 4 dives a day every day. Although it sound like a lot and may seem tiering, but I need to say that every dive was totally worth it and I haven’t skipped a single one.
The reefs of Cebu are a kaleidoscope of life and colour, showcasing some of the most diverse and vibrant marine ecosystems in the world. Stretching along the coastline and surrounding islands, these reefs are home to an impressive variety of coral species, from delicate soft corals to massive gorgonian sea fans. Teeming with life, these underwater gardens host a variety of marine creatures, including colourful reef fish, graceful sea turtles, and sneaky sea snakes.
The main highlights of the trip were the sardine run in Moalboal and diving with whale sharks in Oslob. Watching millions of shimmering sardines forming massive underwater tornadoes, creating an otherworldly ballet of silver and light was a spectacle I will always remember. Diving with whale sharks in Oslob was another experience that will always linger vividly in my memory. These giants of the ocean definitely evoke a sense of wonder and awe with their presence. These magnificent creatures, with their distinctive spotted patterns and immense size, can grow up to lengths of over 7 meters (40 feet), making them the largest fish in the sea. In Oslob you have a unique opportunity to scuba dive with them (not allowed in Australia) and to be within meters from these magnificent animals.
