Oh those catana's aren't the best, I've snapped the 8ft bream rod on a decent salmon at Wangim, and also know of 2 others that have snapped tips off, the Roland Hocking 7'6 is really nice rod if you haven't tried it yet

Apart from this rod braking on a high sticking, never had an issue with catanas, great rods for the price. Really like the daiwa legalis rods too for the price 👌

Let me know if you want to try out one of the Roland Hocking Blackjack's to replace that Catana. There's a new 7'6" model coming soon

What's the specs on it mate.

@@LandFishTV the 7'6" will be 8lb, cast 5-10g lures. Expecting to land in March. Same specs as the current 6'6" though.

welp....you could salvage the catana rod grip. Get yourself a 42 inch ice rod blank and make ya self a mini rod with it.

@@LandFishTV If you do, a fine toothed saw and some wet sanding on the spot where you cut the rod above the reel seat leaves a nice finish that almost looks intentional. Gives rigidity to the butt end of the new rod blank.
