Just out of curiosity, what is so much better about the snap on wrenches? I have a lot of sunex wrenches and i love them. I want Snapon but i dont want to get them if I can’t justify the price. I’m just curious as to why they’re so popular at the price they’re at. I assume there is something about them that is special but i dont know what it is.
@christopheryoung826

I mainly use my tekton, but I own snapon. The metal is slightly better and the grip they offer. It gives you a slightly better chance at taking a rusty nut or bolt out. If used in place of my tekton socket id say there is a 30% chance they will take it out when my tekton would have rounded it. However some other cheaper brands are so close that if warrnty wasn't an issue I'd have went with them.

Did you ever realize that he brought them home, because he had no use for them at work, and gave them to a 5 year old, because he had no use for them himself? i know you said reach for your koken stuff more than often now. But when you reach for a snap on socket are you grabbing the original flank drives or do you just go FDX. I wanted to buy a 1/4 inch snap on set and thinking if i should go all in and get a full set of FDX since its the newest tech from snap on, for my at home toolbox im putting together. I did want to go the koken route but i cant find any SAE Z series sockets and i need a full set cause i do install alot of made in USA parts on my truck...Was thinking to get the nut grips since they come in sae/metric and cover most of the sizes but i prefer snap ons full set and seen that the FDX are basically like nut grips. i probably will end up getting koken down the line but talking snap on whats your pick ?
@damiensingh4950
@damiensingh4950 Год назад
@@DavidJMcBrayer thanks yea I thought I would end up getting 1 socket set. I went down a rabbit hole. Ended up getting a mac 44pc 1/4 general service set that covers all my 1/4 needs and still ended up getting the matching snap on 44pc set in FDX . Got all my 3/8ths as regular snap on flank drive .
@RavinderSingh-iv3sr

@Damien Singh what are your thoughts on the fdx 1/4 sockets? Are there too tight for daily use, do bolts getting stuck in them?

@MrSubaru1387 Год назад
FDX are not for everyday use.
@damiensingh4950
@damiensingh4950 Год назад
@Ravinder Singh tbh as Mr. Subaru said they are not for everyday use. I find myself getting frustrated trying to bang them onto new fastners since the tolerance is so tight . I have a 44pc FDX set and a 44pc standard set and I always reach for the standard flank drive than the FDX. They are good to have I found some instances where I used them like nut grips . But there is the right tool for the job and that's not what they are intended for .
@RavinderSingh-iv3sr
@RavinderSingh-iv3sr Год назад
Thanks for your your replies, i have a full set of fdx sockets in 3/8 , and I use them as nut grips and for rounded off bolts. Sometimes, if the tolerance is ok, i will use them, but I do have standard 3/8 as my daily drivers. I will give the fdx 1/4" a hard pass and get some metric Flank drive set with the extensions or koken sockets with the extensions. What would you recommend? Thank you in advance.
