Awesome day with my buddy Dan at Lost Creek Lake in southwestern Oregon. Endless trout and smallmouth bass. All the fish were caught on Berkley Power Nymphs (pink was the hottest color but almost any color worked) tipped with about a 1" chunk of nightcrawler. The jigheads were 1/32 oz or 1/16 oz (if it got windy). I use Kalin jigheads (color is not a big deal) with wire keepers. The wire keepers tend to cause less damage to the Power Nymph bodies. I usually use a dab of ProCure crawfish scent but on this particular day it didn't seem necessary. We used light trout rod/reel combos loaded with 4 lb with Berkley Nanofil with a 3' leader of 4 lb fluorocarbon. I have since moved up to 6lb Nanofil/fluorocarbon due to my hard strike style which has cost me some fish (you will see me break a fish off on the strike during the video....just can't "break" that habit!). The Nanofil gives excellent casting distance, has almost no memory, and you can feel the fish really easily. We started the day near the confluence of the Rogue/South Rogue Rivers and worked our way downstream throughout the day. Don't miss the Osprey nabbing a dead trout toward the end of the video. The Osprey gets chased by a Bald Eagle that makes the Osprey drop the trout which the Eagle subsequently nabs.....niiiiiice!
