Ohio! I've landed in the Buckeye state to begin a road trip back home to California, traveling down through Ohio and seeing some of its Epic Wonders! The epic Neon of the American Sign Museum (Including some Disneyland neighborhood memorabilia) - the World's OLDEST Traffic light, and the epic, real life Hall of Justice! Come along with me, my super friends, as we travel from the Statehouse to the Kenner headquarters, past the world's largest gavel and the national guard troops, burning miles from Columbus to Cincinnati, and into Kentucky!

What a great video Justin! That sign museum was incredible. I'm originally from Columbus, so this was a journey down memory lane. Next time you're there, I recommend you check out COSI the science museum, where they have a cool Cracker Jack museum inside. There also used to be an amazing tiki restaurant called The Kahiki, but I think it closed years ago. Check it out!!

Yes, that's a working neon shop that does work for the museum and external clients around town. My father-in-law retired from a local sign shop and they had all their neon work done there at the museum shop.

In Plainfield, IN there’s a Mac the night playing the piano in the lobby of McDonald’s. I discovered him on a road trip a few years ago. He’s one of my favorite McDonald’s characters. Road trips are amazing for that. Full of surprises.

Thanks Justin! What a great unexpected visit to Ohio! Cute puppy! Wow! I appreciate your visit to the sign museum ! Memories! I do remember the satellite neon signs. There was one for a laundry mat or dry cleaners. I do remember the Kona Lanes from Costa Mesa. My surprise that nearly brought tears to my eyes was the Colonial Dairy sign! I grew up around the corner of Colonial Dairy in Santa Ana. I always loved seeing the sign lit up at night. I had a milk bottle from the dairy that some how got lost. Ooh! How I missed the fresh milk and Mother's Pride soda they carried. Thanks again Justin and please stay safe!

Moved from California to Cincinnati for work. Took my residents on a trip to the Sign Museum and flipped out when I saw THE Satellite too. Just like you, I became emotional. You said it perfectly. It was like seeing an old friend. My residents thought I was nuts. Grew up in the Inland Empire and this place had the Carpeteria man, I sang the old jingle and the Kona Lanes sign. I totally feel you on this one.

The Cincinnati Garden sign actually used to be the sign over one of Cincinnati's oldest arenas. The Cincinnati Royals professional basketball team used to play there. I worked there in college for concerts and special events. It was torn down a couple of years ago.

Good coverage of Ohio. The "Hall of Justice" was actually built to be a train station in the early 1930s similar to the architecture style of grand train stations of the time (Grand Central Station). It really is grand when you go in with the Art Deco style and murals that line the upper area. I was last there 2017 for a Star Wars exhibit that featured the clothing of all Star Wars films up to that time. It was a tour but our stop had a unique Kenner exhibit that had history of the company but featured mostly Star Wars toy sets from the original trilogy. The answer to Hall of Justice is they sent an artist to make reference art. At the time it had fallen into disrepair and was being used as a coat store. Thank goodness they rescued it for community use! Another fun fact: There was a Sea World in Ohio (around Cleveland) until 2001. It was built before the Orlando location and they used to ship the dolphins and orcas to the coast during the off season. Hope you enjoy(ed) Kentucky.

That sign museum is cool, and just like you found something cool from your past there, I saw something cool from my past there. The welcome sign with the guy wearing a turbon? That used to be the Carpeteria sign for the Carpeteria store in Reno Nevada. It no longer holds a carpet with the store name on the front, but that is definitely the sign I saw for a long time in my childhood through my teenage years. Now I have to see this museum myself!

This was a good show. Good pacing and lots of blinkin' lights. Around the corner from the big gavel is The Topiary Park. A copy of the impressionist painting "A Day in the Park". You will need a friend to visit the Museum whispering water fountains. Kenner street is immediately north of the Museum parking lot you were in. Kenner Co. is but a memory. The Kroger building has always been The Kroger Building. It was covered in ugly blue and white panels, but that is fixed. Out in the street median in front of Kroger is the entrance to the abandoned Cincy Subway. You should make an appointment to see it next time thru. Peace

The sign museum reminds me of the Neon Museum that's not too far from you in Glendale, California. The Ohio museum seems bigger on the inside, but the Glendale museum looks nicer on the outside. I'm pretty sure the cost to rent a square foot of real estate in Southern California is about 3 times the cost of Ohio. All cool places to visit, though!
