Oh boy, did some people suggest THIS as the first one to listen to? This is one of the more heavier ones. Epica has a whole range of different songs. I think Epica is more symphonic than NW. Check out the whole Retrospect concert (with full orchestra and choir)
Hi Nikki. I'm an Epica fan, and I must say I understand you. You're experiance mirrors a bit may path to Epica. I also came from Nightwish. My first Epcia song was "Sancta Terra" (the one with Floor), and I liked it a lot. But then someone suggested to check out "Kingdom of HEaven part 1" and I didn't like it at all at that time (now it is one of my favourite Epica songs). I think Nightwish is more accessible than Epica and Epica is something you have to grow into by starting witht he more accessible songs befoe getting into the big or heavy ones. If you want a beautoful song that is almost a ballad, follow Damien's suggestion on "Chasing the Dragon". It is a song that allows Simone to show different facettes of her voice. In Consign to Oblivion she only had a relative minor part.
Yes,EPICA is a Dutch symphonic metal band, although a bit heavier than Nightwish, formed in 2002 by guitarist, and harsh vocalist, Mark Jansen, after parting ways with his former band ,After Forever. Mark had also co-founded AF, that was the first band Floor joined at age 16.(Mark and Floor are not related) Lead singer is Simone Simons, who was 17 when they formed. She switched to this style in training, from pop, after hearing Tarja with Nightwish. Coen Janssen on keyboards, guitarist Isaac Delahaye, bassist Rob van der Loo, and drummer Arien van Weesenbeek complete the current lineup. This song is the title track to the 2nd album in 2005. It is often used as the show closer , and is still played today. A lot of songs have Mark's harsh vocals, with varying percentages. But some are all clean. They have great ballads too, like Rivers live in Chile. Sancta Terra, with Floor, is all clean vocals. Another newer song, with not a lot of harsh, and a children's choir is The Skeleton Key(Omega Alive virtual show version)
Nikki, you can't say if you like Nightwish better after just one Epica song. I guarantee you this. You haven't hear anything yet. Epica has everything from heavy songs like this, to more radio-friendly songs, to long epic masterpieces and also several breathtaking ballads. You need to hear at least 4-5 songs before you can tell which band you like more (or you like them equally, lol).
Most definitely you can say that *you* like one band more than another even based on a single song. Other people may not agree and that's part of their freedom. And this is true for any band and any song, not just Epica or Nightwish.
@@MikkoRantalainen Well, anyone can say anything. 🙂 But it's not fair to compare 2 bands after you heard many songs from one band, but only 1 song from the other band. Especially with bands like Epica that make quite broad spectrum of music.
@@cancelled_user Okay, maybe try to communicate it that way instead of saying "you can't say" - as if it required permission from you. I agree that it would be better to say that "I don't like this song" instead of "I like band X more".
@@MikkoRantalainen It's a common phrase in English "you can't say" or maybe "you can't tell if...". It doesn't mean it's a required permission. Maybe in Finnish it would have a different connotation, I don't know. I wouldn't use it in my native language either but I feel like in English it's used a bit differently.
Hello, an Epica fan here! This song is possibly the worst to start with Epica, I would recommend something like "Unleashed" for example, I am clear that Epica is not a band for everyone so your thoughts do not offend me! I hope you want to keep trying to hear more of them in the future because they are an amazing band! Greetings from Argentina! 🤘🇦🇷
Oh well. This is such a small world. Mark Jansen, the talented guitarist, composer and growler of Epica has played in Floor's band After Forever. So has Joost van den Broek, keyboard specialist, musical director of Ayreon's live shows and producer of Epica's recordings. Joost is a genius of rythms. See them all together in the Ayreon opera Into the Electric Castle, where Simone playes the doomed Indian character, who becomes enamoured of the sin and spirits of death. Those growling spirits are... You guessed it... Enjoy the song Cosmic Fusion where Simone goes down with a thrilling wail.. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IZVxowaCSuk.html
i love this music - and epica are my favorite symphonic metal band -simone simons is my favorite singer- this is why i love to go to concerts for this kind of stuff
Consign to Oblivion is often recommended as a song to react to but it is probably their most extreme and not, in my opinion a great introduction. It is one of the few Epica songs where Marks growls are so dominant. Mostly they are used as a call and response to Simone’s clean vocals and, usually there is more of Simone. Try Dancing in a Hurricane from the same show. Simone songs mostly in her lower register and I am pretty sire you would love it…ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ENT-EsMyEDg.html Aldo, if you are going to react to anything from their 10th anniversary Retrospect show, don’t just do Sancta Terra because Floor is guesting. I would be surprised if, by the end of all that, you weren’t a firm Epica fan. But, if not, that’s cool as well, we all appreciate music differently. How dull would it be if we were all the same?
Hey Nikki, the diversity of Epica is huge. Like NW. So Simone's vocals are not high pitched all the time. Also Mark's growls are not necessarily in every song. It is a deep rabbit hole. if you like to discover Simone's voice try "Rivers" live from Chile or her guest vocals in Apocalyptica's "Rise again" ;D
I think people shouldn't have requested this song as Epica's first song, This is one of their darkest and heaviest song and not for people who are not used to growls and listening for the first time, try this song I think you it makes me happy EPICA - Unleashed (OFFICIAL LIVE) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rxd6sxLxdys.html
I’m more of a rock to hard rock. However people like what they like. If you like rock try The Warning. I know I voted for the warning and I saw epica had the lead. Enjoy
Btw yes, Epica is symphonic metal, like Nightwish, though Epica also incorporate death metal elements. OK, for very different Epica sound: "Storm the Sorrow" (Official video) - in this one, Simone sings with her chest voice instead of head voice (operatic), and overall it sounds more "radio friendly". You will hear that that song is totally different than the song you listened to in this video. Later on we can try some Epica ballad, and again, it will be very different. Just keep reacting to this phenomenal band and see/hear for yourself. 😉
Talking bout ballads, i finally found a nice life version of one of my favorites : Epica - Solitary Ground (live @ Openluchttheater Hertme, Hertme, 29-06-2019) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-At1J9nvxGUY.html
I agree. Simone uses chest voice for the Storm the Sorrow and it's also much closer to mainstream music as a whole so it would have been much better first song.
@@nikkireviews Before even watching... You picked one of the heaviest Epica songs with lots of growls and very little Simone. I think it's brilliant but this is not for most people. Most other songs have Simone singing maybe 70-95% and just some growls here and there, or in some songs, no growls at all. I hope you're going to continue with Epica journey, because this band is in a league of their own! Seriously. Compare something with no growls at all: EPICA - Unleashed (Official Live) Or more radio-friendly style, with only 20 seconds of growls: EPICA - Storm the Sorrow (Official video), the video is very cool too. Both songs have beautiful melodies. You will be surprised. 😉
Not a problem Nikki, Consign to Oblivion is not the most friendly song to start with, hope you give another song from them a chance, funny enough I heard falling in reverse for the first time with Watch the world Burn and Oh boy that's a good one
Hello I recommend watching "Sancta Terra" live in a duet with Floor, another, also with Floor, the same concert, "Stabat Mater Dolorosa", a medieval sacred anthem, performed by two great metal vocalists, in the middle of a metal concert, only testifies to this what is the level of this music. I will only add that Simone is 3-4 months pregnant during this concert... Warm regards.
Nightwish follower here, just keep it real. You like what you like. You might like the Nightwish tribute to Pink Floyd, where they do “High Hopes “, Marco is the singer in that one.
First of all: Thanks for your reaction, you have a new subscriber. Don't be sorry, not everybodys taste in music is the same and it's absolutely ok if you say you don't feel the high pitched vocals. But I'd say they are some kind of one of the bands trademark. There is often a heavy contrast in their music, their lyrics and their singing when both, Simone and Marc are on vocals. But Epica has a wide variety of songs and there might be something for everyone. To get deeper into Epica with a softer start, "Abyss Of Time" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sTbk3SfUq9Q.html is a nice go to choice, from their latest album "Omega". This one has a acoustic version as well, "Abyss O' Time" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tpy-KdtLsZY.html . Two completely different versions of the same song, guess it would be a nice back to back listening experience. "Martyr of the free word" is another song which suits perfectly into this category. As mentioned before, "Rivers" Live at Chile is an awesome video of an awesome song, easily topping their 20th anniversary show performance. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qcLGgfyOmZE.html "Skelleton Key" already been mentioned. "Sirens - Of Blood and Water" from their latest EP instantly became one of my personal favourites, it features Charlotte Wessels and Myrkur as singers. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-svGQ-q9gx68.html And there are so many other songs...I bet you'll find something you really like from them, and if I'm wrong it's also ok. Not liking someones voice even though he or she is a great singer is nothing to be ashamed of. I have this exact "problem" with Roy Khan (former Kamelot), he has a great voice, fantastic singer, but I just don't "click" with his voice.
Yeah, Simone Simons is a versatile singer and only uses the really high opera-style vocals when the song requires it. She also does belting and mixed musical-theater-style vocals (what you or I would call "normal" singing) and has a very bright, pretty voice. "Never Enough" and "Storm the Sorrow" are a couple of straightforward radio-friendly songs (not ballads) that you might enjoy.
I will never understand why people always suggest this song as the first one to listen to since i also don't really like it much. There are just so much more beautiful songs from Epica i would suggest as first ones, but of course nobody ever listens to me since i'm not a paying user, so i just don't do the work for suggestions this time.
Thanks for the review, I really wanted to be able to find a combination of the style of a female singer and a male singer who sing in the style of the Rammstein band, but unfortunately epica is not that band! Your work is great. Thankful
Honestly if this was the first thing I ever saw from EPICA I would probably have felt the same, and I freaking love this band! here are a couple of songs which are more representative of the EPICA that I love EPICA - The European Enigma Aftermovie - Natural Corruption Epica Pukkalpop 2014 Aftermovie The Second Stone
Hi Nikki 😊 I thought I would listen to this with you. I am a Nightwish fan and have only seen Sancta Terra from Epica because Floor is in it Like you I found the screaming a bit much for my taste, I couldn't understand the words on the singing
My country must be proud of their own metal bands. This song is one of their heaviest. The song 'Sankta Terra' with Floor is without grunting, VERY recommendable! And now for Dutch female singer gothic: Blackbriar! song: Snow White & Red Rose ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n9iAU3Vsz9Y.html
Epika has a very diverse work, they mix a lot of different styles, and this song is quite heavy and yes, there is a lot of growl in it. But they have a lot of songs without any growl at all, and also a lot of melodic ballads and acoustic songs. Don't judge the band by one song 😄 Nightwish are quite monotonous and easier to understand, while Epica's music is more complicated and more technical and varied. They have enough of both menstream songs and long epic symphonic masterpieces. And also their music with a cinematic sound. You can check for example one of the latest hits - Skeleton Key, a very atmospheric song, like a soundtrack to some epic thriller or horror movie 😁
Nightwish is quite MONOTONOUS??!! Seen 2 NW videos only I suspect! Their songs are all different from each other. Get your act together! Though I also like Epica, still they are more monotonous Metal type band of following the "laws of Metal" in their playing, where as Nightwish are more virtuous especially in their composing and liberties they take in cross genre songs. technical "show offing" is many times away from the feeling and conveying the message of the song. There are a lot of bands trying to address compositions with huge load of technical skills show off, which just leaves the song behind as a platform for individuals show offs. In NW every player plays for the song, nothing more or nothing less, they perform the song as a play to audience, the individual skill show off there are the training facilities for - that is the difference between very experienced professionals and not so mature yet musicians.. I think Nightwish is the Father and Epica the Son still having miles to learn and master in order to break out from the "cage of how to must play Metal"! Sure if one prefers the typical Metal playing and components, then Epica is more easily digested by one.. Just a side note on general level of any musicians or bands - I have exposed 40 years of plenty technical, fast playing and show offing musicians loosely playing in bands in Metal and with "Metal style of playing" - it just leaves me nowadays utterly cold to listen to their playing, there's nothing new to it anymore.. Still NW and Epica are great bands in the end, different in their style and there fore give opportunities to listeners to choose their preferred one!
Honesty is better. Everything is subjective. Personally I prefer Epica over Nightwish by miles. I'd recommend Serenade of Self-Destruction, or Avalanche.
EPICA is heavier then Nightwish and both rule in their sub symphonic branches. The reason I like EPICA slighly more is the complexity of some of their song. It is a band that grows on you .. but once you feel the melody and understands how they build op their songs, you'll see them in a different light. Everyone has different taste in the end and you can't be forced to like something, but give some other songs their chance and draw a conclusion then.
So I am confused. Since you seemed to like the heavier Nightwish songs I thought you would enjoy this more but appreciate your honesty. I see you listened to a bunch of Jinjer so I would have expected you to be ok with the harsh vocals. Totally understand if your not a fan of operatic style head voice. That can be an acquired taste for some. I happen to find it very beautiful. So perhaps we should have started you with Unleashed, live from their 10th anniversary Retrospect concert with live orchestra and choir on stage. That is my usual recommendation for people who are not into harsh vocals (there are more then usual in this song). Somewhat heavy and Simone uses more of her contemporary voice so you probably find it more to your liking. I am huge fan of both Nightwish and Epica and while I would hope you would enjoy both they are different enough that you might not.
Epica are one of my favourite bands, you're allowed to not like them! However I'd say don't rule them out just yet, they have a lot of very different sounds :)
Epica is an heavier symphonic metal band. So I get your point. But If you watch/react to Sancta Terra ft Floor Jansen, you'll see a whole different Epica. They are, just as Nightwish, very special in that way.
Hi Nikki. The song you're looking for is called Sancta Terra. It's really night and day compared to this one, and unlike this performance, they feature their "live" orchestra and choir singers. I really think you're going to like Epica a little more when you react to it. Thank you for choosing Nightwish over Epica. lol Coincidentally, Nightwish was chosen as the #1 symphonic metal band over Epica last year. 😁 Thank you for the video, reaction and comments. Stay safe and stay blessed. 😊❤️🤘🤘
Just because Nightwish is more popular and recognized doesn't make them the best! Besides, this girl only heard ONE song by Epica, what criteria can she have to decide between one and the other?
@ytcag2007 Friend, that is any page where you vote for popularity, let's be serious! I respect Nightwish is an amazing band but also very overrated at the same time!
Glad you were honest. Some things take time to hit the spot and some things just don't hit the spot ever. I think you'll enjoy Sancta Terra a lot more, Consign to Oblivion is a bit of a full on onslaught as an introduction to Epica. Thank you for the honest reaction Nikki 🙂
Thank you! I listened to Sancta Terra today - just posted it a bit ago actually but spoiler alert - I DID like it much more than Consign to Oblivion!☺️
Hello, Nikki! Nightwish fan here... I had the same initial thoughts after listening to Epica for the first time (and it was this song). I wasn't initially a fan of Mark's growls, but I did like Simone's vocals a lot. Simone has a more "crisp" voice (for lack of a better word on my part) than Floor, who has a more warm sound to hers, but both can do mind-bending stuff with their voices like it's just another regular day. I would like you to continue with Epica (and Nightwish, of course), because I think there's a bit of an Epican in you somewhere and Simone will find it. 😉 Please let me also recommend a bit of a list. You must be true to yourself, so don't change that! Of course there will always be haters. The more views you get the higher the chances are there will be at least one. To me Epica was a bit of an 'aquired taste'. Like with liquorish or heavy red wines, it took some getting used to and then all of sudden I started to appreciate it. Of course taste is very personal. What is good for one person may never be appreciated by someone else. I hope you will enjoy Sancta Terra.
Thank you, that means a lot! I posted Sancta Terra just a bit ago and I'll tell you, I did enjoy it much more than Consign to Oblivion. I'm looking forward to listening to their sound a bit more.☺️
I do prefer Nightwish, but I always find Consign to Oblivion the wrong song to start with Epica. Skeleton Key, Abyss of time are much closer to their usual style.
You're absolutely right, YT is filled with fake reactors pretending to love everything they react to, so that's all your honor to stay true to yourself and be honest ! Maybe you'll like better the band who finished with as many votes as Epica at your poll... (totally different style though)
Honestly, your reaction, preferring Nightwish initially, is not an uncommon one -- or a reaction you need to apologize for. Epica takes time; it took me decades to appreciate it, and dive in fully. Now I rank Epica higher, but that's just my ear. But if you like the elements, have a listen to some of their albums.
For sure. Even the music I end up loving sometimes takes a few listens for me to really appreciate it. I'm thinking of putting Epica back on the weekly poll tomorrow so I guess we'll see if people want me to check them out again. 😊
Hi! Epica is a little bit harder than Nightwish, but Nightwish also has a lot hard(er) songs. But i also like Nightwish a little bit more than Epica. It's not the best sounding conzert for the singer from Epica, Simone Simons and not the best song for her singing, but that's only what i think. Look the songs "Unchain Utopia", "The Skeleton Key" or "Kingdom of Heaven Part 3" from the EPICA - Omega Alive conzert the did in 2021. Simone sounds a lot better there for me. You should also look the a capella version from the Epica song "Rivers", i'm 100% sure you like it, but i think you also like the other 3 songs what i wrote more than this one you look here today. See you next time, maybe with one of this Epica songs. Bye!
From an old man: you kids should really chill out a bit and not be so afraid to speak your mind. :) So what if you dont like a song so much? Its good to let us, who are in a bit of an echo chamber, chasing after all the same songs reactions, think about a song again. 🎉
The reason Nightwish fans want you to do Sancta Terra is because it's another excuse to see Floor do her thing, And I get it. Floor is the best female metal vocalist, probably of all time. She is MY favorite. But I applaud you for going against the grain. This is one of their older songs which has a more operatic aesthetic to it. Simone (the female singer) changed her vocal style to a more straight up contemporary style later on. The Beauty and the Beast vocal style that they employ isn't everyone's cup of tea but it does get less emphasized on later albums.
I wouldn't say Simone changed to more contemporary style. She just changed/improved her head voice (operatic) technique. Watch for example "In All Conscience" from Omega Alive. That's a full-blown operatic soprano.
@@cancelled_user Yeah, I'm not really a huge fan of their last couple of albums. I'm more of a Divine Conspiracy, Design Your Universe, Requiem for the Indifferent kind of a guy. She still does operatic style singing on those albums, but she's not channeling Tarja like she did on the Phantom Agony or Consign to Oblivion. It just seems like her voice cuts through the din on those middle albums.
@@alexojeda9048 Simone tried (a little bit) to sing like Tarja, because as a teen girl she was inspired by Tarja. I don't think she was challenging her. Some vocal coaches would tell you she didn't have a good technique in the beginning (first 2 albums or so), but it's true that most fans absolutely love young Simone's head voice. I'm one of those fans. I think it was stunningly beautiful, unlike anything else I've ever heard. In later years she improved so she sounds more like a "proper" operatic soprano, but that also makes it a bit less unique, though she's still amazing and I love her. I'm a big fan of all Epica albums and I don't understand how can anyone not like TQE or THP, those albums are huuuge, absolutely massive sound, brilliant compositions, no filler songs at all. This band has been consistently blowing my mind, unlike any other, not even Nightwish. 🙂
I hate people recommend Sandra Terra and Consign to Oblivion as first Epica reactions. They are some of their worse in my honest opinion. Epica discography is so vast and so many amazing songs with different sounds.
Actually, the whole second half of CtO is incredible, almost like some classical piece, but it's definitely not good as the first song for non-metalheads, that's for sure. I would always recommend something like Beyond the Matrix, Unleashed, also Storm the Sorrow, because it sounds quite radio-friendly and I like people's faces when Mark comes in for 20 seconds. 🙂
Hey, you aren't obliged to like everything nor to apologize for not liking something. Epica can cause quite a sensory overload. There's everything at once: massive orchestra, br00tal downtuned guitars, blast beats, death growls, black metal shrieks (which I'm sorry to say that Mark Jansen sucks at), operatic vocals, contemporary vocals, choirs - combined with rather peculiar songwriting, dare I say. Definitely an acquired taste. But don't dismiss them yet. The hardcore Epicans here in the comments must have suggested some other, softer songs which might be worth checking out. Cheers!
If you like a dual singer band, check Lacuna Coil. It's a gothic metal band. Cristina has a powerful and beautifull voice. Her voice and Andrea's voice just fit eachother. Don't worry, just stay sincere ! Btw : Epica's song Beyond the Matrix is way more catchy with a great solo.
No need to apologize. It Is a different sound and I'm sure you were expecting something softer. I initially did not like harsh vocals in songs, but I have come to appreciate their use as a contrast to clean vocals. Definitely listen to Sancta Terra. I know you will enjoy that one. I would try Cry for the Moon or Kingdom of Heaven Part 3 from the Omega Alive virtual concert.
Fair. Nightwish is incomparable. I like some Epica, some of it is great. Though Thomas, the composer of Nightwish is truly next level. As is Floor Jansen. Song for song there is nothing like it in the world today. Epica have some great songs and some good songs. I have all of their albums. I have all of Nightwish as well. But I only have all the live concerts of Nightwish. They are the only band I have the live concerts of at all, actually. (And I listen to soooo many bands!) They are incomparable.
I would say exactly that about Epica. It's not comparable. Nightwish is great, Therion as well, but Epica is simply next level. I can listen to every single Epica album and not skip any song. Not even Nightwish is this good. Floor is amazing, but there's something about Simone... I've never loved any other female voice as much. Especially her head voice in early years was very unique and I've never heard anything like that. No other singer sounds like Simone back then. And she still stands out today. Her transitions from chest voice to head voice (and vice versa) are wonderful. Why not live Epica concerts? Don't like live orchestra? 🙂Retrospect (2013) was with the full orchestra + choir, and We Will Take You With Us (2004) was with a live string section of the orchestra and live choir. And "The Classical Conspiracy" (2008) is a live album. No video, but again, that one was with a 40-piece orchestra and 30-piece choir.
@@cancelled_user hi fellow Epican :) I’m with you about this and I’ll give you the reason why the feeling Epica and Simone are giving is so unique - Floor is an incredible vocalist - proficient, powerful, versatile and charismatic. But - Nightwish and Floor are like a mighty Amazon-warrior riding a unicorn. There is (almost) nothing like that. But Epica… Simone is like a stunning fairy, terrific and vulnerable at the same time, gracefully riding a savage metal dragon, and both are keep growing and evolving in any possible way. For those who were blessed to see this creature, there is nothing that is getting close.
@@cancelled_user hey friend u just take my words. For example Human Nature I liked at the beginning even Noise, but after a while I decided to purchase the CD, but ohhh man what was I wrong, after a few listenings later it bored bored me already and even don't listen to that album for a year now, except for three songs Shoemaker, Pan and Tribal, the rest of the album is just not my thing, and I skip it. I want beautiful eye watering ballads, heavier stuff with death and black metal elements and everything in between like on Omega, only this is Epica giving me like no other band can. And Simone has the voice I truly love maybe not the best technique but voice is so freaking beautiful and crystal clear. I prefer Simone over Floor and yes I am a Floor fan too!
Simone has purer voice but anyway as a band, Epica is on another level over more “light” NW overall. Just example of Epica’s new collab EP The Alchemy Project…way out of the box and brilliant and HEAVY if u can take it. You will never ever see NW collab with Flesh God Apocalypse 🤣🤣
like yourself, this is my first time hearing Epica, but I'm with you on this one Nikki, I prefer Nightwish also...but there were some nice double kick and guitar moments in this I quite enjoyed...unfortunately for some, not all requests will be to your taste, but that's to be expected, it was sweet of you though, trying to spare the feelings of Epica supporters, but props to you Nikki for keeping it real, and being honest
@@pazwretzky4673 I leave you a recommendation of each album: "Sensorium" "Mother of light" "The obsessive devotion" "Unleashed" "Serenade of self-destruction" "The Essence of silence" "Universal death squad" and "kingdom of Heaven part 3".
@@pazwretzky4673 First time now? Man, where you've been? 🙂 Here, no growls/screams at all: EPICA - Unleashed (Official Live) EPICA - Unchain Utopia (Omega Alive) EPICA - Natural Corruption (The European Enigma Aftermovie) EPICA - In All Conscience (Epic Metal Fest Aftermovie) Here some others with very little growls (10-20 seconds) EPICA - Sensorium (Live At Paradiso-OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO) EPICA - Storm the Sorrow (Official Video) EPICA - Storm The Sorrow (Acoustic version) Pinkpop 2014 - for comparison with the original metal version Do you want some breathtaking ballads as well? 🙂
Hey don't feel bad. Too many reactors are full of it, "loving" literally everything ever. Makes the entire endeavor pointless imo. I'm a longtime Nightwish fan myself, and never have really meshed with Epica even though all indications are that I should love em. Just don't vibe with them. It happens. I'll always appreciate keepin' it real even if next time around it's a band I love.
There's no need to apologize for having a taste in music. And if it comforts you, I loved Epica and stopped listening. I didn't like the changes, but instead of complaining I just stopped hearing and talking about the band. Nightwish is on a level above Epica. A versatile band and another that got heavy and a bit repetitive with death influences. And I like Mayhen, Burzum and Darkthrone, louder, dirtier and maybe not even considered music for most people.
I always have problems with the growler. Not because I have problems with the growls itself, but because I just find it bad. Symphonic does not always sound right away. More like Nightwish and with two singers: Visions of Atlantis - Pirates Will Return (Official Live Video) | Napalm Records There are more trendy as long as Nightwish: Within Tempation - 'The Fire Within' (Official Music Video) Trendy and few growls: Ad Infinitum - Upside Down (Official Video) | Napalm Records
I'm still unsure of this song and enjoy epica and do have great music. I have something heavier for you try Lorna Shore pain remains trilogy also when you watch the music videos make sure you have the lyrics pulled up.
Yeah Epica might be too much for you...they are power and brilliance and far more sweeping in forms of music than NW. NW has gotten lot more "popish" in their music in later years. Epica remains true to form and at risk of offending the NW fandom, Epica blows them out of the water. Simone is a siren.
Need to do the one with floor seta terra live It is a must she's beautiful I love her voice too good band I'm with you too much screaming I want to hear her more
Thank you for your honesty. I think as a new listener to harsh vocals, you need to ease into them. Consign To Oblivion is kind of sensory overload in the harsh vocals department.
I think you should listen to Simone a bit more... Here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VnRdKXt67rY.html or here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cEgsUUhqdlg.html or here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Skd_KizAR08.html But watch the whole videos. If that's not strong enough, then I don't know....
Wow. A Jihad over who's da best singer HERE?! That's unusual. Normally happens in the Nightwish comments. My two cents: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uzW1jDAt69Q.html Good luck anyone trying to top that.😎
Appreciate your honesty. Floor is objectively a better singer than Simone. Also Nightwish is simply better quality music. Epica is quite entertaining but basically a circus act.
You obviously don't know much Epica or Simone. I bet you didn't hear more than 3 songs. Nightwish is not a better music. Maybe better folk, but not better symphonic metal.
@@cancelled_user I've heard quite a lot of them, both studio and live, over the past few years. Simone is beautiful, the band is talented, and I like some of their stuff, but most of it is not as well composed as Nightwish, and they rely a lot on spectacle. However, they are certainly better than Jinger.
Considering the objectively subjective nature of every pretentiously objective yet inherently subjective personal opinion, I shall highly disrespectfully agree with y'all that Jinger ain't shit.😁
