You two look like you really enjoy being on stage together! I'm new to symphonic metal. Where have it been all my life?! I'm a classical trained horn player and I would kill to play in an orchestra that did this!!! Rock on ladies!!!!
And what’s wrong with that man, as I see it there is nothing wrong with having a lovely Lady asa lead singer of a symphonic rock band, because different is very very cool.
A symphonic metal band with a FULL symphonic orchestra on the stage. AND two of the most talented female metal singers. It can't get better than this❤💚💜
Whatever the Dutch are putting in their water, it sure produces some great vocalists: Simone, Floor. Sharon, Charlotte, Anneke. Small country, huge talent.
They are in the EU, so they don't put 'whatever' in their water. But I suspect it could have something to do with living in a country bellow sea level. I mean, that's as close as humanity can get to have a settlement under the sea. And the results are singers that are as close to sirens as humanity can get.
@Ad Lockhorst all 5 of them are so significantly different (well atleast Floor and Simone and Sharon) there really isnt any comparing that said, try Ayreon, it features a lot of them ;)
i can give you way more bands in this genre. mainly a black metal/depressive black metal/shoegaze/blackgaze/post-metal/atmospheric black metal/atmospheric depressive black metal guy. but i have tons of music like this as well.
@@metalvideos1961 Since you are into black metal, I think you will like "Crack of Light" by Vintersea (Blackened prog melodeath) (but, if that's not black metal enough, their song "spawn awakening" is more black metal)
Floor Jansen's range is so good that she can sound amazing with anyone. She can tweak her own vocals to harmonise perfectly with her singing partner's.
ashsoulreaper \m/ what if I told you and the guy down below that you’re both actually right. It’s happened before. I’ve been there. And THOSE are some FUN parallel multiverses to go to my friends! Better than Disneyland (and cheaper, too! Save that 🍞)
Correct. I would say that Simone's son Vincent would have had more talent alone than all of American pop music here (NB: this show was 6½ months before his birth).
+ALX V When and if that happens Nightwish will have to cover any After Forever song. You will have to of the ex-members. It's funny but ever member of AF has went on to do a lot in the metal scene. Mark with Epica. Floor with ReVamp and Nightwish and so on. With out After Forever I don't think you would have half the bands we have now. Give them a lot of credit I still wish I could have seen AF just once.
For ones who also want to sing along --------------------------------------------- "Sancta Terra" A place which I have searched a thousand times To finally free myself Forever wasn't ever long enough I will refrain I feel a passion washing over me To shed the skin I'm in This evolution will empower me Now truth begins And you will not find me I am safe in here I'm where I want to be It's a place where a wish will be granted Come, you'll see I'm right It's a force that will live on within you Dark as day is light It's a place where your dreams will be slanted And will always be It's a force that was sent out to win you Just you wait and see Take one step closer to the borderline Where night and day unite This mortal coil I've gone and left behind On holy soil And you will not find me I am safe in here I'm where I want to be It's a place where a wish will be granted Come, you'll see I'm right It's a force that will live on within you Dark as day is light It's a place where your dreams will be slanted And will always be It's a force that was sent out to win you Just you wait and see You will not find me I am safe in here I am where I want to be So leave me now in peace And you will not find me I am safe in here I'm where I want to be It's a place where a wish will be granted Come, you'll see I'm right It's a force that will live on within you Dark as day is light It's a place where your dreams will be slanted And will always be It's a force that was sent out to win you Just you wait and see
To think Simone was a fan of Floor, and Simone's voice was inspired by Floor (like Liv Kristin with Madona) and now they did this masterpiece beyond genious and beautiful!!
with what do you feed them dutchies? every single band and musician that comes out of that country is a higher being. (both metaphorically and literally)
I've just been discovering these two powerhouse bands in epica and nightwish over the last couple of months. Epica came to my attention first, to be honest, because I have a thing for redheads. It took exactly 90 seconds to realize how awesome Simone and the whole epica production is. Been hooked ever since. Then one day I was talking about epica and someone recommended this video for me. Hence, I became aware of floor. I started exploring nightwish and I am just renewed. I haven't been this excited about being a metal fan literally since I was growing up with iron maiden and Metallica in the early eighties. I know that nothing lasts forever but I hope that I will someday be able to check out these bands before I croak. I am pretty sure that all epica and nightwish events in Valhalla will be sold out.
+Anders Midnatt Simone is actually a mezzo soprano. She might be light lyric but I doubt full lyric. I have heard Floor called full lyric and dramatic but I'm not sure her voice is dark enough for dramatic soprano. I'm not even 100% convinced she is a soprano. She voice resonates in her head BUT it seems to resonate in her mixed voice too. The theory is mezzos can do this but sopranos cannot.
Vixxenkiss Simone is the full lyric soprano, because her voice is significantly higher than mezzo (no B2, her lowest notes - D3 to F3 - are flat, but the highest is F#6, which note a mezzo can't hit). Floor Jansen is the full dramatic soprano, because her low notes are impressive and dark enough to be arousing, though her high notes closely resemble those of the lyric soprano (which doesn't have these charming lows).
A lot of mezzos have a soprano range. You can't go by range alone. As for her lows I honestly think she just hasn't developed her chest voice. But maybe she is a light lyric soprano now. She is still classified as mezzo most places I see online, I don't just mean wikipedia. Like, everywhere. I have to agree with that. It's subjective since it's not based solely on range. As for Floor, kind of the same thing. The way her head voice sounds is so very very different from her chest, like a different person completely. It makes me think she just prefers lower notes and belting. Like the ReVamp song I Lost Myself I think that bridge there is where it resonates best, but I have also heard that in her head voice. Which is, what makes me be not 100% sure she is a soprano even though she is classified as one. A mezzo can do that, but sopranos usually can't. It's super super hard to classify them based on this type of music alone TBH
This is so amazing! Simone and Floor's voices singing along is just magical, the Orchestra added to the awesome metal sound gives it and extra epicness! imagine a version also including Sharon Den Adel!! that'd be the perfect Dutch female top singers trifecta!
What a Damn trooper, Simone was 2+ hours into the show and 3+ months pregnant and she still killed it. Even though if you look closely you can tell she is exhausted. amazing. 😓 🎸
I saw Epica one year ago today, and it was everything I hoped it would be despite the fact the my mom passed away exactly a month before. For anyone who has not seen them live, do it, you won't regret it.
Came here for Floor and leaving totally hooked on Epica and Simone also! Absolutely incredible. (and Simone had apparently been going for over 2 hours already.) Off to check out their back catalogue. Time to hit my wallet and hit it hard. :)
Simply stunning performance by these two powerful voices and two gorgeous ladies. I think it's almost adorable how they're both almost flirting/fangirling with each other during the performance.
WTF? Only 350k views over almost 2 years for one of the greatest symphonic metal perfomances I've ever seen (which are quite some)? One of the most underrated, err, "underviewed" videos on youtube! Go out, apostles and spread the word to the world!
This is my new favorite song! The stage chemistry! The harmony! Two straight up powerhouse vocalists backed by some amazing symphonic metal. Man this is awesome. Everything about it
Agreed I love floor when I first watched her with Nightwish during the storytime showtime I was think to myself she’s in and my woman crush Wednesday too.
OMG GODD DAMN THIS IS SO FUCKING AWESOME!!!! GOOOOD THIS IS GOOD METAL...BEST SINGERS....BEST VOICES AND FUCKING BEST SONG!😍👌Floor and simone are godesses😍✌😍💜
This has so much of joy and simply makes happy! Discovered this video after a few days ago i thought about: "What band would i decide to hear, when it is the only band to hear for the rest of my life." There would need to be two: Epica and Nightwish! I love you!
I love Nightwish's new album, as I do all of their albums... but it sort of bothers me how it seems like they're not writing for Floor's full potential. *THIS* is the kind of music where she shines the most. As much as I enjoyed and appreciate EFMB, I truly hope Nightwish goes back to their roots to make Floor truly shine like she can.
Izayoi Higurashi EFMB is nice album ! its just very different than all they did before, its way they wanted to change, i love that album. Anyway Revamps Wild Card album TRULY shows Floors capabilities and her amazing voice full of emotions
The only songs that displayed Floor's potential and capability were "Yours Is An Empty Hope" and "Weak Fantasy." Since Marco also wrote YIAEH, it had a different sound and the heaviness that songs like "Elan" and the title track were lacking. It seemed more like a continuation of the Imaginarrium album. It seemed like songs that fit Annete Olzon's voice rather than Floor's. Hopefully on the next album Tuomas can stray away from so many brass instrument sounds. And imo, I'm not that on board with so many bagpipes on the songs. It gives Nightwish a separate identity. Maybe Floor Jansen can be allowed to contribute some writing on some songs.
A lot of the songs for EFMB weren't written with Floor in mind, but with Annette. It's like people can't do research before forming opinions. Greatest Show on Earth was a brilliant track and showed everything Floor can do, including operatic styles.
Elles atomisent les poupées barbies de la variété, elles désintègrent les épouvantails du R&B avec leur puissance lyrique. Simone et Floor Jansen ensemble c'est imparable...
This is incredible. That feeling when you realise you have found a new favorit song. My chest feels so good right now. Thank you for an amazing performance
I love how their voices blend and the sheer power. The use of classical/operatic technique is jawdropping. I cannot think of two popular American singers doing this? Maybe Ann Wilson and Streisand in their prime? Closest today maybe Lady Gaga and Beyoncé but it would not come close. Taylor Swift and others nope? We need more conservatory classic singers in pop.
