Jace, at the end of the Multiverse. Read it here: magic.wizards.com/en/news/mag... See more at MTGStory.com This story is written by Alison Lührs, narrated by Clayton Kroh. Thumbnail art by Adam Paquette. #MTG #MTGStory #MTGThunder
Alison Luhrs, she no longer works for WOTC but is a fan favourite author so they bring her back every so often, she was the one who wrote the Ixalan story that started the Jace/Vraska pairing to begin with
I found this fascinating. So much effort put into a body of work. Both the writer and the speaker of this precious presentation have spellbound so many of us tonight. I felt like I was being dragged in & out of consciousness myself throughout this tale, as my mind has a funny way of playing tricks on me. I’m grateful that the compassion of Jace was never truly lost, which was demonstrated throughout his fight with Compleation and his love interest for Vraska. I hope everybody finds what they’re looking for back on Ravnica. 💕
Every set moving forward needs multiple videos like this to fill people in on the story. Few people will actually go to the site to read the story, this makes it so much easier to digest. For years I've been convinced that the story writing was done on a budget. This has me hoping they're at least going to make the story more prominent and impactful going forward.
I seldom comment, but having the stories in audio format is a game changer for me. I understand that it involves an investment from the story team, but I’m certain there are more people like me who would devour the audio versions of the story multiple times.
FINALLY! I was blown away by this writing. Echoing previous comments, this is some of the best writing (and narration) from WotC in years. Please make more of this!
This highlight the importance of pacing and emotionally relevant details to a story. There was nothing wrong with the bones of the Invasion Tree storyline but its execution was very rushed so we did not get the emotional or logical payoff for most of the characters and events. There were some great moments buried in all of it but most of them did not get the room they needed to be satisfying.
This was amazing, i was curious what happen after the war more in detail and the story teller had me hooked through the entire video. Great video really loved it and hope for much more videos like this!
Oh COME ON. Just as I thought we weren't ever getting these again at the same clip as the story and resigned myself to text to speech. Genuinely thanks for this. But please please please put them out with this timing for other sets 😢
@@charcharmunr the mother of the most powerful natural telepath in the multiverse is probably no slouch. She's good enough to turn utility spell into something deadly at least.
I mean, one of the multiverse's most powerful telepaths with a safe space in his own mind who's also a planeswalker thus retaining his soul while compleated who ALSO got a sword full of Halo stabbed into him moments ago being able to fight it off just enough to send himself to sleep makes it still pretty damn threatening. It's not really something... Anybody else could've done and only in those specific circumstances.
@@ernestosalinas1091 uh that didn't happen, the Multiverse would have lost, it was entirely Wren and Teferi, and also Teferi's people getting overlayed into phyrexia, Wren is almost completely the reason they lost, her alone.
@@keithfilibeck2390 I would also add Elspeth because she bought Wren and Teferi time to do what they did, plus she saved the multiverse from the sylex explosion when it was activated.
Absolutely! Check us out on places like Spotify for the audio-only version. Just look for "The Magic Story Podcast"! open.spotify.com/show/7Mh5sZeYeDFA0XbVocJ7cW?si=e7de5f367e1741a9
HIRE BEAU DeMAYO TO MAKE A MTG ANIMATED SERIES!!! Like X-Men 97. Imagine... The story of Urza against the Phyrexians, battling for millenia, made in the X-Men 97 style and quality... *Drooling*
Yeah, now that I think about it... if Elesh Norn was smarter she would've just used Jace then and there to win instead of sending him away :D Use Nissa to channel Phyrexia's mana through him and it would've been checkmate
I Hope Lukka gets story like this, so he can get a good redemption arc. I wonder if the Shard of the Ozolith that he carried could somehow bring him back? 🤔
@keithfilibeck2390 I recall that the actual body of Lukka just rolled down the hill, and Vadrok had burned all of the Fleshy mass that Lukka had accumulated. Vadrok had pulled him from it prior, and Vivien shot him with Arrows in the Mouth of Vadrok. Idk, I have to go back and read it lol.
@geasscrazy I already Know he "died" lol, but let's be honest, Jace somehow survives being impaled, and I know there are plenty of other characters who "came back from the dead," so I don't see how they couldn't, if they wanted to, bring Back Lukka. So many possible ways, what if Mila found him through an omenpath, etc. Idk. But yes, someone please tell me lmao.
It's weird to call it an epilogue, this one at least, because it doesn't really directly connect to Thunder Junction's story. It's arguably a prequel to explain some things that the final chapter revealed.
im not sure this is making sense. restart the universe? how is that sacrificing a few for the infinite? That's sacrificing the infinite for another gamble on an infinite of other things.
Not in the written story on the website, at least. Apparently, someone didn't put as much effort into the captioning as the author did writing. Maybe they didn't put ANY effort in captions....
yes and no. short explanation. Jace was turned into a phyrexian for a whole 2 minutes, before the Halo sword allow his mind to recover for some time, he create a illusion of himself, so nobody notice, the Halo buy him 10 minutes to build some mind protection and he go back to be full Phyrexian. He lead the invasion to his homeplane of Vrynn, after Norn is killed and the invasion ends, his "mind protections" allow him to wake up. He use his mind powers to force his body to find the oil inside him and go after Vraska. so in short yes that Jace was real, just not 100% of the time
Great content. Whoever did the annotations needs closer attention to detail. Many basic grammar errors and differences from what the man spoke break the immersion.
I'm so freaking disappointed in executives because they just won't allow anything new to develop in MTG stories. They have these talented awesome writers and then they waste their talent to retell yet another story about how great Jace is and how easily he can overcome any issues without any consequences' bar some scars. It was so much fun to meet new characters and see planes from new perspectives, I really liked stories in Eldraine and loved the stories in Ixalan. I was hoping it meant that we will mostly focus on new characters and explore the existing characters who weren't in the spotlight before and I wish it was the case but after the ending of the main Outlaws story and this epilogue it's evident that there is nothing new on the horizon. I think I will just stop reading any further and only focus on the game aspects which is a shame because I enjoyed seeing how story was reflected in cards and vice versa.
Idk if you are the minority or majority here, but I was personally waiting for a story with Jace after all this time. Some of us really like him-plus mtg could get a show or animated series with all this lore. (Also I don't think we have seen all of his potential yet, neither the struggle, consequences and the "what happens after you are omni-powerful" that come with being a telepath). There's no need for characters to get replaced by new batches. Even though some people feel they are overused and always want something new & interesting, others feel like certain characters are the "soul" of the game. If you are to think of it in star trek terms it's like this: Spock and Data will always be relevant & ppl go back to rewatch just for them (or will always have shows/scenes/references of their own), meanwhile other star trek series individually exist with new characters.
