I have this guitar, I play for almost 14 years and if you are trying to decide; I would recommend getting it. It has good build quality and sounds phenomenal in the hands of a GOOD PLAYER. I do not appreciate the way elitists try to present those guitars, the funny thing is that I met many of those elitists who own 5000$ guitars and they play terrible because they are worried about commenting about their expensive guitars r instead of practicing. Many here and in other comment sections try to present affordable guitars as not worthy but Epiphone is getting better and better, in the last year they even shifted to manufacturing guitars with solid woods ! Even the select maple sounds good and if you change the nut to a bone nut and put new Ernie Ball strings that match the maple range this guitar naturally offers, you would be surprise on a blind test that it sounds very similar to the Gibson sister, give it 15 years in a good home and it will sound dry and beautiful, even if it’s select maple. Gorgeous guitar in the hands of a player who appreciates its beauty instead of its marketing and tag.
I have ordered Humingbird performer pro…I like the dialed in sound from the guitar without pedals. I use a zoom pre amp for live playing with reverb and it works for me.
Gracias por tu video. Esta es una guitarra muy bonita, y por su precio suena genial. Me parece recordar tiempos mejores de guitarra, hoguera y amigos bajo la luz de las estrellas.
Got mine Friday, surprised how good it sounds, being a electric guy the transition is brutal playing 12 gauge strings! But tuned down to D so it’s pretty smooth sailing. Great guitar
Just bought one, I also have the Epiphone Hummingbird but first impressions the Dove has slightly better build quality incorporating a much richer deeper sound and is more robust.
leftfield70 having played both my wife liked the Dove more too. I have to agree. I think the hummingbird comes across somewhat more bright which I would probably like more myself but she likes a more mellow acoustic sound.
@@Aech_0 I can vouch for this Epi that this will not make you regret on your decision. However I have not used Gretsch rancher Jr. So can't say anything about that.🤗
I have a PRS SE. It also hides the mic inside the guitar. It' looks way better since it's not cool to have a plastic square and sometimes a little screen in the middle of your wood...
Yeah that’s terrible. I mean it’s cool to have an on board tuner but I’d just rather not lol. Funny story, one time my wife and I were in a guitar center and she just pulled off her fake finger nails to play a PRS acoustic
My girlfriend ask me if I had a choice would I choose the Dove or the Hummingbird. I told her the Hummingbird and she bought me one for my birthday five years ago!
I asked my wife what she wanted and she was between the humming bird and the dove. Ended up actually ordering the hummingbird. When I told her she was like ok yeah awesome. I kinda wanted the dove a bit more but I’ve wanted a hummingbird forever. So I called and changed the order and the dove showed up. Got to surprise her 2 times lol
just got the white one. Had a Guild Jumbo before but returned it. The Guild was great, don't get me wrong. But the Dove has more balanced sound and plays easier
That is why I have not bought one. Cause of where the battery is. I had a old Humming Bird. With the old set up. Should of kept it. Thank you for the review. Your a Blessed Man to have a Wife who plays. Mine hates My love for Guitar.
Looking closesly at 2:01 it appears the A and D strings are not centred relative to the bridge pins. Easy mistake to make (when I was newer) - just need to make sure strings are centred when changing strings..
Well, reading the descriptions on the Epiphone website my wife decided to go with the dove because it was built to be a warmer (low mids) instrument than the humming bird. They described the hummingbird as brighter. Other than that she liked the colors on the dove more as well.
I don’t usually play it through an amp and when it is we usually run it through a DI box into front of house. In the video I was running through the clean channel on my Blackstar HT 20 but it’s not really made to do that
