Episode 047: Belleville Black Knights 

Belleville's Black Knights were responsible for getting me started in a lifelong love affair with music! As a young child in the late 50's and early 60's, my parents would take me to Steeleville, IL. for their July 4th parade which always included the Black Knights. I would follow the corps along the entire parade route and then anxiously wait for their on field show before going home to my Black Knight Club House up in a tall maple tree in our yard! As soon as I was old enough to play in the band in grade school I grabbed drum sticks and it was on! Still love DCI although some of the latest changes are not to my liking, it is amazing what those kids can do on a football field! THANK YOU BLACK KNIGHTS!!!

not to be picky but it was the September 1953. I happened to be there. A restaurant in Washington Park,Ill after a Shrine Drum Corps practise. Forrest had been having trouble with the Red Bud parents organization. On my fathers side I think he was tired of taking me to Red Bud for practise. I appreciate this site.
