The brain is like the electronics of the car, the core is the engine heart. The driver is person soul. The heart is more important than the brain and the soul more than that. That’s why ancient Egyptians threw away the brain for embalming.
I would even go to the extent to say that physical reality may emerge from consciousness. Conscious experience may well be a construct. It is not that 'I' am aware of 'the world'. There exists an awareness, and the vessel just happen to be 'me'. But because there is awareness, not only am 'I' aware of 'myself', but the 'trees' are aware of the 'clouds', the 'clouds' of the 'trees', and all of themselves.

The algorithm has blessed me today. Fantastic work mate, I'm a student of AI and rarely do you find honest commentary on the limits of our current neurological understanding, let alone competently presented. The dogmatics in deep learning sometimes even take to claiming that all synaptic coding is learned from scratch through behavior to undersell the infancy of their algorithms.
I think people don't understand that "neural network" is a metaphor. I'm also involved in AI research and it's clear that both the potential and the limitations are underestimated by people outside the field. I feel ya bro. Much, much later in the podcast I hope to discuss emergence in LLMs
😁 Wonderful! I liked how expertly you switched between different levels of technicality. A lucid dialogue that demands your attention. As a mathematician I am along for the ride.
This highly complex thing is also responsible for creating a medium where I can write this message from across the planet and you will see it within 1 second.
The brain is a antenna. The soul sends, brain recieves and the human mind executes the order. This is called intuitive thinking and living a life in a intuitive way. Many names for it and this was discovered hundreds and thousand years ago from polymaths and philosophers. The "Wu Wei" in asian philosophy, but this is just a pointer for universal knowledge. Imo. But i also have to mention, that this current version of world is run by the ego mind, which is in the emotional space of fear and greed and many human dont even understand how to differentiate their state of conciousness. They think that they are the ego mind and they execute the thinking of this mind which is not good for the self and others.

For anyone interested in these talks who also likes sci-fi books, the children of time trilogy is an excellent read. Your discussion made me think of those books for some reason, similar discussions of consciousness in the later stages of the trilogy
All particles are made up of ever smaller particles, and the brains made up of super small monoatomic elements that mirror the electrical field around the body that is why this so difficult to create a real brain with consciousness which comes from the field
Will any of your podcasts dive into Marshall McLuhan at all? Something about your comment on 98% of the genome being responsible for processing information felt like an example of the medium being the message.
Chaos at a distance looks orderly, order at a distance looks chaotic. Complex is that which lies midway through one and zero, paradox and paths. Complexity is a simple system of mutation applied many times. An evolution of the simplex spread through time or space. Perhaps we're not traveling from the origin, but along it. A poem-ish, for phone keyboard is pain.

Isn’t it possible that when we look at neurophysiology, that we could be missing “neurological processes” that are taking place somewhere else in the body ??? I’m intrigued by Stuart Hammeroff’s microtubules hypothesis….

What do you mean when you ask "what motivates these structures". Would you ask what motivates an object to roll down a hill? No, you'd ask: what causes it to roll down the hill?
@@hammers9434I think that love of God causes a material to be conductive. When it is filled with God’s electricity, it transforms it into its own personal radiance spread to the universe at right angles. 🥰
In the Greek religion of old the motivation itself is a property of a God the cause of the motivation is unknown as of today but Aristotle names it the unmovable mover.
Simple fractal functions can produce complex structures, but yes genes are just blueprint for proteins. That's like blueprints for bricks, planks and nails, not the blueprint of the whole building. Even epigenetic regulation that's still only blueprints for proteins as I understand it.
Without acknowledging the existence of the Almighty Jehovah, all these human endeavors are futile in attaining true understanding about life itself. God deserves all the glory. Thank you for this video 😊
The reason scientists don't talk about junk DNA is because they got caught trying to cover up their ignorance. The fact is, it's all code. There us no such thing as junk DNA. Because we are designed and engineered by God, and we always make mistakes when we forget or deny this.
Whoops, wait a fucking minute. Did he JUST say.... and "The Department of Defense"???? Now, think about the timeframe he just mentioned and how much money was given to fund such a task. Then think why would the department of defense be involved? Makes me wonder what will be going on in 15 years? So many thoughts and all are worrisome. I wish the best for us ALL 🙏🏼
The assumption that a synthetic brain would necessarily produce consciousness seems exceedingly niave. If that were the case, then how would we explain sleep, anesthesia, and the catatonic state? Even a basic computer can't do anything without an operating system.

Your podcast tho is different, i love the topic and as a side note, i also love the backround picture, it gives an option to look at something new on the picutre occasionally to regain focus on the subject. quite crazy i’m finding this, i put in the research about 3 months ago of how much storage we would actually be starting off for our “blue print” if our mind was a mere digital computer - i would’ve thought it to come out but… 700-800mb? anyone who wants to argue we aren’t a quantum computer brain or have some non particle based aspect to our experience is being quite silly…
Hey Dr. Young, this was fascinating and fun to listen to. I'm a mathematics PhD student with an interest in neighboring areas. I technically work in pure mathematics, but this changes very little in perspectives on complexity (e.g. see "hippocampal spatial representations exhibit a hyperbolic geometry..."). If you are ever interested in collaborating in some form -- please reach out! I have many thoughts and comments on this podcast, in relation to neuroscience, to nature and the behavior (geometry) of so-called "dynamic systems" as a whole.
Prana Yama also has to be included, the ability for yogis to control breath and then create new pathways in the mind and have profound effects in the central nervous system. 😅. The feeling and aura of bliss that transcends beyond the sense organs of the human body. Without properly including spiritual input into the Ai brain, an Ai brain will always be limited in ways as compared to a real brain.😂. However, in some profound ways, the Ai brain will be significant player in the world stage.
Correct. We are nanotech created by the Universe to perceive itself, though we deny it. All our DNA is code. Highly engineered. Beautifully designed. There is a reason for everything, though we deny it. Our neural nets are embedded in even larger glial nets which also respond electromagnetically. Our destiny is in the stars, though we deny it.
We absolutely need to reverse engineer the human brain, but the neurological layer we think of is a higher layer over a lower layer of swarm intelligence. Every single cell is a super computing swarm intelligence and to fully understand it we must go all the way down to virus like swarm intelligence which was modified to function as one of if not the lowest level of swarm intelligence which functions in and between cells as intracellular and extracellular vesicles. Point being, each cell is an incredibly sophisticated swarm intelligence and the DNA within a cell, while critical, is a long term information storage system within a germline cell where the full germline genome is contained within more than just that DNA long term storage.
Sigh...the fusion energy of IT. Does it account for the fact that our neural nets are embedded in and modulated by an even larger glial net, which also responds electromagnetically not just electrochemically? 😔
connected or not, there is a binary in there somewhere, fired or not, another binary. binaries are significant in computer science because they represent boolean logic, on or off, and it is this logic that is up-scaled into all the complexity of software. I have no doubt that the logic used in brains are entirely boolean at their base.
The holographic nature of reality, when applied to the brain, makes a lot of sense; our personality, and even part of our 'memory', exists as a holographic form on in the present moment. Our experiences in reality, and how they become altered seems to point towards a holographic phenomenology. IF we could create a wholly synthetic brain out of nano-machines... it would be beyond our ability to understand what type of 'being' it experiences. I think it would take a long time to create such a machine brain. but for what purpose? purpose is a bigger issue for creating the thing, rather than the steps to create it. If the purpose to create it doesnt find favor in millions of people, then it will never be created. time will tell; we're early in this narrative.
A common tactic of liars is to use unfathomable numbers and scales and make you believe you just aren't smart or qualified enough. Science has become just another religion to me.

An infinity of infinities. Infinities of infinity. The reductive mind set in imaged representations is conceptually structured by masking rules and filters of its own structural framework and focus of experience (of an Inherency or integrality that can never be objectified but in parts). The reduction of mind becomes the means to persist in structured or object 'reality'. A self imaged replication thus runs a virtual counterpoint to Self-Extension.
Can you simplify? And isn't this very reduction that you did has a basis in image. Even if it's done by the mind the image is important for action to get better image and so forth and so on. .Is there any other way for now?
@@bhushankaduful I just lost a longer response. Our mind generates symbolic links to direct experience, that become a currency of communication & exchange of a human experience - cast in rules & filters of accepted thought that operate a cultural focus through which to interpret, perceive and respond or act. Prior to such processing is a quality of knowing or being that we have learned to ignore, discard or reframe to support our current worldview. Awareness within self-imaged 'reality' is in a sense partitioned from awareness at the ground of being - where a shift of focus is a total act, rather than a repackaging or redistribution of 'problems' as attempt to solve at the level of effects rather than attend the lens of thought we look through (or at). I see self-imaged thinking as a deeper meaning of the Narcissus 'falling' into or being phished by his own image - hence heedless of real relationship while busy 'solving problems' by seeking a better image as a handle on a projection running as an augmented or substitute 'reality'. We could see humanity as currently disappearing into its own Movie - increasing unable to determine true from false - and thus regarding both as of a kind to mix and match. But I do not see an infinite capacity for pain (on any level of our being) and so there is an inbuilt 'path of release from self-illusion, no matter how dense the conviction or how persistently repeated. THAT we can and do create an image of self (& world) reveals a quality & an integral power to open it to revision or change rather than double down in compounding unchecked error
to make artificial sentience. you'd have to make artificial life. Life multiplies by division. Its self assembled, not a made thing. We can compare machines to life but they are not interchangeable.
Shouldn't it be a huge conflict of our Constitutional interest to have the NIH and dept of defense spend three billion on a joint effort to learn how to play with DNA ?
Humans know how to perform magic because we are organic beings AI does not and will not be able to. We don’t even understand consciousness, and yet we have the ego and audacity to try to make it.
So what’s the other thing we’re supposed to be tapping into, magic consciousness juice? This argument is the same infinite regress theists use for god. It’s probably more likely that we are just a type of brain function and your ego is desperate to avoid admitting that.
