Time to plan the early retirement. Working gigs to fix up the sailboat. Planning to live off grid and retire early, enjoying sailing, travel, food, and sunsets.
I was shocked when I found your channel. I knew other people were out there with the same mindset, but haven’t really ran into any. I am 52 years old, no wife, no kids and plan on doing the same thing. Purchasing a sailboat, again, quitting the job, cutting the lines and floating away. I went from being a chef with my own remote lodge in Alaska to my current job as a truck driver. Switching careers after 32 years of cooking was an eye-opener for me. I went from being surrounded by nature and animals at a fly in only remote, gold mine to dealing with traffic in major cities around people who are living in a world that I really don’t understand. I plan on purchasing my sailboat in just over a year. My last sailboat was a 33 foot ranger that I realized was too small for me. I stay working since it is a free apartment and I am able to invest all of my money. Good luck with the channel and the journey. I might see you out there one day.
Thats great! Keep your dreams alive and follow your passion. You dont ever want to regret not doing things later in life. Make a plan and stick to it. Im even taking marine electrical classes in my spare time. anything to make things better later on.
