Our very first episode features the winningest coach in Philippine basketball. Coach Tim Cone bares the losses before the wins, and how he had to navigate through adversities prior to attaining success.
Coach Chot I jast wanna say you inspire me when I was young. As someone who represented the Philippines in World basketball. A pure blooded Filipino on a world stage brings me so much Pride and Love for the Country and Basketball.
Only just started listening to this podcast. I love it. I hope you keep this going coach. Future guest wishlist: MVP, Jordan Clarkson, Erik Spoelstra, Tab Baldwin, Jog Uichico, Ramon Ang, Jimmy Alapag, Marcus Douthit, Rajko Toroman, etc.
These GROWN MEN are really friends and knows a lot from each others lives yet people HATE this interview because they are a fan of the other. THEY are SUCCESSFUL because they mind their own business and focus on their careers. No wonder why many of us filipinos are still in the poverty state because we like to meddle with things that doesn’t concern us. They are coaches so let them do their job.
Winning experience > Learning experience. Triangle Offense > Dribble Drive Offense. Big lineup > Small ball. Ball movement > Jordan Clarkson isolation. Thanks Coach Chot for giving way to Tim Cone!
@@StrikeFirst01 spoken like you’ve done something for Philippine basketball. With your comments and bashings, may life give you what you deserve. Chot didn’t do anything to you. Karma is real.
@@IamIronman888 chot held philippine basketball hostage for decades. He also brought his inadequate son with him. He and his son should learn to let go. He had multiple chances but like a true greedy politician he obviously manipulated MVP and now Panlilio for their blind loyalty. I am not against Chot personally but him as a coach he should have quit when he led the Gilas to World Cup appearance, everything after that was a disaster. I deserve everything in my life as I worked hard for and I am proud of it without taking advantage of anyone or depend on anyone. I am 38 and can retire now if I wanted to.
@@StrikeFirst01 he has stepped down but he was appointed again. No matter what and after he has stepped down, he and nobody deserves to be bashed and treated badly esp that he has done a lot for Philippine basketball. We were cheering for him last 2013 when he led Gilas to the World Cup. This is his podcast and I don’t think what you said in your first comment is appropriate esp if it comes from someone like you who you said is now successful and can actually retire. I’m 50 and has retired and just enjoying passive income. God bless
People don't appreciate what Chot contributed to the Natl Team. When he took the job, PH games the likes of Taiwan, Qatar, Kazakhstan were always 50-50. But when he took over, they became gimmes. We had the chance to beat Croatia and Argentina, up in the last 2 mins vs Puerto Rico, worst lost was a 10pt loss to Greece. Lost to Dom Rep by 6 coz JC fouled out. Lost to Italy by only 7. Under Chot, we finally beat SKorea, China's Team A twice (2017 & 2023), Senegal. We were right there. And that's a long way from what level we were when he took the job. We also beat Cambodia in SEAG 2023 where the rules were changed so they can field basically 5-6 imports with no Asian blood and some of them were GLeaguers. It's unfair to compare him to Tim Cone. We lost to Georgia but the Latvia game was iconic. But we won Asiad by beating China who had no import. Only Jordan is the other powerhouse since Lebanon begged off and Australia and NZ isnt part of Asiad. Even CTC said, Chot crawled so that he can walk.
@@bluedchaos5879 we'll never know. Long time assistant coach si CTC ni Chot. So madami siyang natutunan doon. Unfair to use what ifs.
Ang ganda ng podcast! Ang dami kong natutunan!! 💯 Dapat name ng podcast LEARNING EXPERIENCE with Coach Chot.
Italy is Italy. That comment of yours ignites the hate of all Filipinos because even if the actual game against Italy is not yet happening, it seems that you expected our team to lose and there was no hope. To be honest, it is good na nag stepped down kana as a coach dahil mas lalong masisira ang image mo sa mga Filipino at mas lalong lulubog ang basketball team ng ating bansa. Latvia is undeniably one of the toughest teams in the world although, Coach Tim beleives that they are not impossible and ayon nga tinalo nila ang Latvia.
These three things in my own humble opinion are the main reasons why the fans hate him: 1. He gives of a 'Yabang' vibe and he doesnt have a natural charisma unlike Cone. I know di naman niya siguro sinasadya yan kasi yan talaga personality niya. Hindi tulad ni Coach Tim he is always conscious on being humble. Also yung galawan at pormahan ni Chot, though again that is subjective and maybe thats just who he is, gives off a mayabang vibe 2. There is a common perception that malakas siya sa mga SBP patrons like Manny Pangilinan kaya niya nakuha ang position. Lalong nareinforce ito when Gilas was already losing badly but he still holds on to the job 3. His players, in silence, dislike him. Again, there is something about his personality that gives off a swagger vibe 3. He publicly showed that he wants the Gilas Coaching job badly, unlike Cone who did not show his interest publicly (but of course he would be a hypocrite if he didn't aspire for it)
