Nothing happens on a boat without line, and in this episode we learn how the ropes are being made for the Volvo Ocean 65 project.
With the first boats at an advanced stage, Rick also visits some old friends at Green Marine in the UK, and shows us the specialist factories in Italy where the rope and hydraulics systems are being prepared.
Expect more like this to be uploaded to the Official Volvo Ocean Race RU-vid Channel in the future. Get all the latest updates on www.VolvoOceanRace.com

These guys are high tech and very redundant ! I like it !!! I used to sail with wire rope and nylon line with fiber hawsers. Always slushing the rope and maintaining line. Must be very nice to be supported by so many millionares.

I didn't know the type of rope played such a big part in these boats. Should of figured when these boats are all carbon fiber, but they brake down so much though. If they just built them a little stronger and they sailed them study threw the whole race they might just when that way. instead they push them to they're limits then brake down all the time. Just my opinion.

If your boat is too heavy it'll be too slow and won't win. If it's too light it'll break and you won't win. Finding the sweet spot is goal (but incredibly difficult to do; part of the reasons for switching to a one design class).
