Episode #13 - The Changdalorian

The Darkest Timeline with Ken Jeong & Joel McHale

Joel & Ken discuss their optimism about the Oxford vaccine when Pedro Pascal drops in and shares his incredible journey from Chile to Denmark to Texas and ultimately to Game of Thrones, of which Ken is a huge fan of their t-shirts. They also discuss his involvement in the Community table read, the journey of an actor and how the pursuit of perfection never ends. Oh, and one question is actually answered! Spoiler: it’s about Buffy.

I'm sad to learn that Pedro didn't feel great about his read. I loved it because I think of him as an actor who gives weighty, serious performances and to see him break like that didn't change anything about how I view him, but it did make me realize again just how GREAT the writing on Community was--they made even HIM break!

This is why I always enjoy when celebrities interview each other more. I mean I know most of those other interviews the people doing them are getting paid to ask them to talk about their shows and stuff and that's their whole purpose. But I just enjoy actually get to know about celebrities as people themselves a whole lot more. Like it's fun to get to hear about their family history and stuff like that.

Watching this in 2023. Pedro has come along way since this interview. Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (easily the best comedy movie of 2022) and now potentially the best tv drama on TV with the Last of Us

Ken is a bit of a chaotic conversational steamroller. I was really impressed with how Yvette conducted herself during the table read Q&A, making sure no-one was cut short or went unheard. A little more of that would make this podcast perfect. I agree with everyone else though, I hope they stick with it!

I've been binge watching every Pedro's interview and this is the best one. His story about his parents are more elaborated than previous interviews he had. And also, did Pedro had imposter syndrome too? Coz I can relate with him being vulnerable cracking up at the table read and thinking he's not doing enough while the rest of us watching it thought he did a great job.
