A varied trip. I get your issues with engine repair. I came back to a flooding toilet tank after I removed a water pressure bodge, one year. The joys of apartment living

It’s good to see people making the most of their canalside gardens.

Rich talking about the lovely roses made me wonder - are there deer in the green areas along the canals? Here in very rural Pennsylvania roses can be a challenge because of marauding and hungry deer. (Now I am picturing what a “marauding” deer would look like!)

Ha Ha, we doo have deer roaming around some area but they normally stay away from people. They have occasionally been pulled out of the canal when they have fallen in

We went up the Hatton flight on a very hot Sunday in July 2014. We started at 06.00 in the morning and it was mid morning before we managed to buddy up with another boat. We were very pleased to get to the top. Another great video. Thanks

Another delightful video with a bit of this and a bit of that. You two are some of the most cheerful campers, and in such a natural way, I've come across on the screen. If a broken motor doesn't depress you, I guess nothing much ever will. Cheers from a wintery NZ.

Great, the gardens along the canal were very different. Loved the idea of rhubarb & custard & Fran’s avocado salad for your evening meal Sounded very inviting, helped along with a glass of wine at the end of a long day. Very enjoyable viewing, keep them coming!,

It's so wonderful to watch how you and your boat keep evolving. Yours is the first boat I've been able to watch grow threw three owners. I just love what you're doing with the boat and your videos. Sometimes it's hard to watch these great adventures living here in Canada. I'd love so much to get over there with a narrowboat and explore your industrial history for a few years... Keep cruising the cut and thank you for sharing with the rest of us.

Consider running some long screws through the top of the dresser in the kitchen to prevent it from falling over. Using a block of wood where you run each screw through so it doesn't move one way or the other.

Fab weekend aboard with Fran & Richy, ....we stayed in the presidential suite, great company for Jenny and I, RCR rescue Steve paid us a visit and learnt some Essex based tidying skills too bless him, loved zigzagging the boat along like I play golf, think it’s called safari narrow boating, the wonders of lock gates......always wanted to see how they worked too! A big shout out too for the lovely pub at Rowington, Tom O’the Wood, great food good service, reasonably priced and very customer focused.....make it a must on your canal boat travels. When can we come back you two😍😉👍🏼?

Really felt your pain on this one. We've just recovered from a breakdown ourselves. RCR came out and it was our gearbox plate. Had to wait a week for a new one to be made but thankfully were in a delightful place near resources. Back underway again now. Hope your friends were OK camping rather than cruising - at least the wine & beer kept flowing :)

Had a nice chicken curry at the Fleur de Lys on Saturday night but I know what you mean it’s been a bit hit and miss in the past and this lunchtime I had a stroll around Kingswood Junction and got bitten by a plague of mosquitoes! Good luck finishing off the cottage and it won’t be long before you’re finally continuously cruising

Another lovely video ,as a Diesel Mechanic can l suggest you get a proper good quality Workshop manual for your particular engine ie Haynes,Gregory,CMA etc they are relatively cheap now and also contain informative trouble shooting info in a lay mans step by step guide.You will be able to source them from any good car spare parts shop,ships chandler or on line now. Even as a mechanic l keep copies in all our various vehicles and stationary motors & machinery on the farm,boats etc, one of their real features is the good ones will lay out all the tools/parts/ nut/bolt sizes etc needed for handling each job and what spares you should have so you don't get caught out and proper maintenance schedules.They are also very handy in being able to give a accurate description of the problem over the phone or in our case over the radio meaning needed parts etc can be brought out on the first trip. Out of interest what would something like the lovely Tudor house on the canal roughly go for against those modern ones whose gardens you were looking at? Happy cruising
@FloatingOurBoat
@FloatingOurBoat 6 лет назад
Cheers Daryl. We were wondering the other day if Haynes did diesel engine manuals. Blimey a Tudor house in the cut would set you back £750k upwards. modern houses prob £250k. Thanks again for watching 👍

Sounds like the starter relay is sticking, replace the relay and then try to start her.always keep a stock of spare parts on board like belts, oil, starter relays etc. relatively easy to install. Simple mechanics and not difficult to replace. Even though you have very limited experience. The only way to get experience is bye doing the job. The next time you have a problem don't be afraid to ask for help and if you need the engineers don't be afraid to ask how to do it. Bad stop solenoid. Easy way to avoid the problem in the future is replace it with a shutdown cable that you pull to shut her down. After shutting her down push the shutdown cable in till it stops so it's ready for a restart. Glad the engineer was able to get her sorted right away. Cheers

Solenoid wouldn't provide physical feedback to the key. I have had a stuck key on a Citroen before and that resulted in the starter motor being burned out. Similar wirring noise at all times. The replacement (reconditioned) starter motor wasn't a big expense but a coded key barrel cost quite a bit; you shouldn't have that issue at least. Unless your narrowboat has central locking ;-)

I think I heard the name of the pub as the fluer di ly, ok dont think correct spelling, but in the late sixties early 70s this was the pub to visit...their pies were to die for, unfortunately they sold the brand name and everything went down hill from there.

The fuel gauge on a narrow boat is a stick long enough to reach the bottom but still be able to grab it and and pull it out with a piece of cloth to wipe it off. Simple and it works. When your fuel level is 3-4 inches from the bottom your way past needing fuel. Always fill the tank.

Carry a rattle can or two of orange paint then after mooring up light Lightly spray you pins to make them more visible. Better than hearing someone mumbling under their breath. And buy a few pair of work gloves to avoid getting your hands dirty when pulling the pins or setting them. Just playing devils advocate. Cheers

Salad and wine , what more do you need .... John 2:1-11 The Wedding at Cana 1On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples. 3When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” 4And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” 5His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” 6Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.a 7Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it. 9When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom 10and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.” 11This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him. biblehub.com/esv/john/2.htm

Yeah Richy..... tell @Terry Gill all about the flux capacitor issues we had that weekend too, I went to use my debit card to buy a round and found myself back in 1952 when we had clearly set it for 1992 so we just readjusted the timeline alignment module by 40 odd years and its al good to go👍🏼👍🏼😉
