This garden, like three other famous gardens-Eram Garden, Delgosha Garden, and Takht Garden-was in its ultimate prosperity during the period of the Al-Muzaffar and Al-Inju dynasties (8th century AH) before the invasion of Timur Gurkani to Shiraz. Ibn Arabshah, a historian of the Timurid era, in his book 'Ajā'ib al-maqdūr, called it Zīnat al-dunyā (Ornament of the World). During the stay of Timur Gurkani in Shiraz, Jahan Nama Garden, like other famous gardens of that time, attracted his attention, and he built a similar one around his hometown Samarkand and named it Jahan Nama.
This garden was also flourishing and significant during the Safavid era. French travelers, Chardin and Tavernier, who visited Shiraz during the Safavid period, described a beautiful avenue that extended from Tang Allah Akbar to the tomb of Mir Ali bin Hamzeh, the current location of Hafez Street, flanked by lush and thriving gardens.
This garden is the oldest in Shiraz, nourished by the abundant waters of Rokni river, and is located in a special area of Shiraz (Hafez Street), among the tombs of Hafez, Haft Tanan, Quran Gate, Khwaju Kermani, Baba Kohi, the National Garden, Gahvareh Did, the National Library of Documents, and more.
