Question What would have happened if Kai Used Link Joker instead of Kagero

@@AlexisStreams I think Ren's plan was his new ace Revenger Dragruler Phantom since it's effect allowed you to deal damage to your opponent without attacking.

You might be right with Revenger raging form dragon he would have had multiple attacks with his vanguard which would have given him many chances to also get triggers and make kai to use all of his hand in order to protect

@@godsman00 even though he might have won there is a high chance he didn't have Revenger raging form dragon in his deck since his deck was made in order to defeat link Joker which means that dragruler was his trump card against link joker since it can damage your opponent with our attacking

@@triant2159 Agreed he did explicitly state that he changed the deck for the LJ matchup, and it actually made sense considering that on top of the damage effect, Dragruler only required 2 retires which made it more reliable under the threat of locks.

Probably because he built his deck horribly. He put a bunch of cards like vermillion that did not work with his archetype.

Why would Ren need anything different? Mordred and Raging Form were insane. And you could make Dragruler nutty with stand triggers.

Kai wanted a better Dragonic Overlord, thats why.

I guess because he lost when the whole "using one's own strength" didn't work when the fight truly mattered. Mainly against those who tap into supernatural forces to the point of corruption (Ren, Leon and possibly Aichi). I'm kinda paraphrasing someone else's observation from TV Tropes about it.

Well since this is anime, even if Kai had the better cards, he probably didn't have the right amount of spirit or whatever to beat them (a.k.a manifesting triggers) Like sensing power levels in dragon ball. I mean the cardfight to them was particularly amazing for some reason, even though they didn't have any noteworthy cards like they do now, so because of that, he felt weaker. Aichi can't even ratio his damn cards correctly only running 1 damn blaster blade and yet he still wins, so is it that surprising this show runs on anime logic where rng hardly ever plays a factor and Aichi will beat naoki 10 out of 10 times with no lucky draws on naoki's part? or for a better comparison Zane and bastion somehow constantly losing to fundamentally worse decks to everyone else despite being the only 2 characters who actually play the damn game?

@@_____Shadow_____ re-birth is actually strong, against link joker it’s one of the best. This is because its skill isn’t “lock 5” it’s “lock any amount” so, it’s the perfect counter. If you don’t understand, basically instead of unlocking being its skill, it’s locking, and it gets all its skills. Example, if you have 3 locked rearguards, you can attack with only your vanguard, so instead of wasting a turn attacking with one unit, you can use his limit break.

@@kegtuwa it’s not that, it’s the fact that it would suck against 2 intercepts, and the break ride could get a buff too, maybe being able to attack vanguard and restand, and when activating rebirth limit break you could retire the front row units or make them lose intercept

If you use him at that Limit break era, its all about timing. If u have crappy rearguards or their are 2 or less perfect guars left, then use him.

Same, was playing Chronojet GC and had to take 3 damage at 4. Pulled 2 heals as 6th damage, was super nuts.

Yeah plot armor will always have a play in anime eps, but I think from a realistic perspective anything could happen in vanguard tbh. It's a pressuring situation when a player could only do so much to really anticipate when a trigger shows up and they are stuck with a tough choice. Sure if Ren knew how everything played out then yeah he would have guarded the 2nd attack and survive kai's double crit with his double heal. It was honestly split between these 2 decisions if players were in Ren's case: 1) Risk taking the hit, hoping to anticipate that Kai would check his crit triggers in third and last attack and use everything to try to withstand it and I believe building a shield that would take 2 triggers to pass Ren's case is still a best possible solid defense. 2) Guarding the second attack before the third attack was another decision too, but more less appealing because say if Kai checked a crit in his second attack. Ren only had enough defense to try to stop one attack and the third attack with the critical from the 2nd attack would have just hit for sure. Or if Kai got no triggers on the 2nd attack, the third attack was still unstoppable after using his defense for the 2nd attack and Kai's chances of checking a crit gets higher. Like I said earlier, if Ren knew about his double heal and Kai would get a double crit on the third attack then guarding on the second attack would have been made no doubt, but in a realistic setting it would have take a lot of faith for a player to believe in a farfetched playout.

​@@ArcaniteMaster I thought Ren have Psyqualia which allows his cards to tell him when to make the best optimal play. I mean unless when one is not obessed with Psyqualia, its ability is not that strong?

@@Elvirgelion With Ren and Aichi's character development through this series at this point, they grew to be players that don't want to rely heavily on Psyqualia because it does not represent true strength as a cardfighter for them. So yeah Ren did not use Psyqualia in this fight because he truly wanted to prove himself to beat Kai with his own strength. Psyqualia at this point just represents a genuine connection between a fighter and his units. Like how a fighter can strongly feel how close he/she is with the units that want to help her/him win.
