Episode 17 - Review of Rigol's DSA 815-TG Spectrum Analyzer

Not sure if I misunderstood you about not being able to save the plot as a picture, but you *can* save a picture file to a USB stick just by hitting the print button - you get exactly what you see on the screen. I've got one of these, I use it for checking spurious radiation from switching regulators in my projects. I have also used it for fault finding RF distribution systems and such.

Jack - as another poster pointed out you CAN save screenshots to a USB stick inserted into the front panel. By default they're set to a black background with white traces and lettering; not great for printing. But there's a Rigol video on their web page that shows you how to reverse that so it's a white background with colored traces. 73 - Dino KL0S

Nice video, this one goes to my "saved" playlist. I like the DS 815, it's nice and affordable and as you mentioned it has that very useful tracking gen. I also like the Siglent new signal generators series, they're good value for money and I hope to get one soon for my bench.

Completely agree on the tracking generator. I have three analyzers and none have this feature. Kicking myself!

Being able to determine VSWR of antenna systems would justify some of the cost of one of these. Unfortunately as you add on software features, the price also goes up, FWICT.

Hi Jack, I recently discovered your channel and enjoy it very much, you do a nice job. As it just happens I am in the market for a spectrum analyzer and I have been considering the Rigol DSA 815, I have the Rigol DS1102E and love it, very good value. However, Peter from the TRXBench channel has suggested that I consider the Signal hound spectrum analyzer and Shahriar from the Signal Path channel has done a review on the signal hound and has given it his blessing as well. I am just curious on your thoughts or your viewers thoughts on this matter? I would be using it for ham radio and RF experimentation at home and for what it is worth I am a degreed electrical engineer. Anyways, great job and look forward to your next video.
