Momo was raised without a silverback , he has always had issues with mating since he had never seen it . There’s some really old videos from when he was first introduced to genki , it was a real struggle to get them to mate cause he didn’t know what to do .
I've been following Momotaro n Shabani Family and know their history. Still, Momotaro likes what he likes. He wasn't raised with a Silverback but there is natural instinct!

He isnt clueless at all. Hes just not into her anymore. Gorilla males are very selective. Hes stuck with this female that wants one last baby by he isnt turned on by her at all.
Genki got rejected of her mate when she was younger - I think it's a Genki thing - she's always got a dirty bum (not that gorilla bothers about that) - Momo's father is the mate who rejected Genki - her loss of status when Momo's mother Momoko entered the group was a big factor of stress that caused her to bite her off her own fingertip.
It’s not even considered ok for any wife in a silverback’s group to mate with other males much less make advances toward their own sons. It’s weird because Genki used to spend all her time caring for the kids when they were tiny (and EATING) then getting harassed by rambunctious kids (and EATING) and never spending much time around Momo- when the kids got too wild Momo would never coral them away from harassing her, he’d BITE the hell outta her instead. Another thing very lately is Momo starts to get tremors when there’s a lot going on- I’m afraid he might have serious heart disease.

No his body naturally reacts. Besides she's been doing this to him from he was a toddler, she progressed from cleaning him as an infant and toddler to oral sex and stimulation and now mating.
He isn't clueless. He doesn't want to mate with her. Gorillas are very smart. And he can probably tell that she is in bad health and shouldn't be having any more babies. Her estrus cycle hasn't returned either, which could be why he doesn't want to mate with her.
Do you understand biology. Genki's estrus hasn't returned yet since she had kintaro. Momo can tell that she isn't in heat. That's why he isn't mating with her. The real question is, why is she running around trying to mate with everyone in sight if she isn't in estrus. That is not normal at all.
I always wonder if Genki was artificially inseminated, it really is funny to see them try & mate. I hope they have Genki on birth control. Another pregnancy might kill her but with all the inbreeding going on in Japan, I'm sure the zoo doesn't have good intentions with another baby, all they see is 🤑
@@sonjavandam1306 I don't know either. The zoo doesn't really care. These animals are just money to them, and a baby brings in visitors. I know the zookeepers probably care about them. But with her health and the problems she has had with the last two, I don't understand why they would put her through that again. They know it could kill her.
It's not momo's fault. Genki's estrus has not returned yet since she had kintaro, and momo can tell. The real question is, why is she acting like this when she isn't in estrus.
Healthy female gorillas discharge fluids from their sex organs when they are in heat. Males smell this and check it out, sniffing and fingering the female, get aroused and mate. The males, even as young as Kintaro and certainly Gentaros age can smell this and check it out. Ricky was fingering his mother for several videos a few weeks ago. If you had ever watched other gorilla families you cannot miss it. Genki is feeling she is in heat but she is not giving off any of the signals that a male uses to know she is in heat. She likely never has. Neither her silverback nor his sons ever treat her like she is in heat in any way. So she can huff and puff all she likes, people can blame the silverback all they like, but it is another of the side effects Genkis many challenges. Cudos to her for getting past it the first two times, but it took way way way more effort by her then this. Get her into an old age home and give this poor guy a functioning female, he has done his time.
She does, but it takes her a long time. After she had gentaro it took almost 7 years for her estrus cycle to return. And the zoo has stated that it hasn't returned yet since she had kintaro. So you are right, that is probably why momo is not trying to mate with her. Not to mention momo can probably tell that her health isn't good.

She didn't teach him anything else. Truth is, she should have never been put in a group. She can't handle the day to day stress of being in a group. But I agree that the zoo should fix her dental problems, its not right to let her suffer.

I’m thinking they took her off birth control in recent months to try to get another baby out of her. They can get pregnant into their 40’s and I heard some talk about that from Mr. GL- don’t know if he’s just a gorilla fan or if he has zoo inside info.

Genki is a unique and beautiful gorilla. She knows her mate can be a challenge and tries everything in her power. They have had 2 sons so it eventually works out. This is just a small part of their lives we are able to see! And she doesn’t go for Kintaro or Gentaro. They are still her sons that she checks health wise which includes checking the penis. Most mothers do this with sons and daughters. They may lick something off or even nibble on the genitals. The fathers will finger the genitalia. This is the gorilla way. They don’t think”We’ll I can’t get sex from you,so I’m going to get it from my child!” The gorilla children will smell and touch the genitalia of their siblings and parents. It’s the gorilla way.😊

Of course she helped him in the beginning. He was 10 years old. Look at how mature gentaro was at 10. But allowing her to have another baby, that she is just going to use sexually as a toy is ridiculous. She is not a good mother.
