To kick off our annual road trip Team Legacy Series visit Legends Pro Angling in Sasolburg to stock up on all the fishing gear and supplies they need for their annual December road trip across South Africa.
Each year the Legacy Team uses the opportunity fish and share some of the unique dams in SA with their viewers as well as introduce new innovative Legacy Series products for the coming year.
On their first stop they visit one of SA's most beautiful & majestic dams in SA, named Jozini Dam/Lake, located just outside the town Pongola in the KZN Province.
Lake Jozini or Pongolapoort Dam was constructed in 1973 and is a South African wildlife gem to visit for fishing, birding or just game viewing and is home to the southernmost population of tigerfish in the world.
Barend, Raymano and Christiaan join a local fishing guide Phillip from Jozini Tiger hunters, to start the 2022 December roadtrip by putting the new Legacy Maximus X (Maximum visibility) and Legacy Maximus IV (Invisible) fishing line to the ultimate test with screaming reels and rod bending action, the new Legacy line shows it superiority.
They also get the opportunity to fish the Phongolo River currently in flood due to the immense rain we have experienced this year. They use the faithful Legacy Series Maximus, the new Maximus Black and Maximus River Dips to hunt for the ultimate freshwater fighting predatory fish in SA.
When the weather stops the team from going out on the boat, they decide to target the unique looking Silver Catfish, The Butter Barbel or as some may know it as the Makriel from the bank with great success.
Other fish species that call this unique dam home are carp, fresh water eel and a variety of kurper species.
