The Czechoslovakian field telephone TP 25 is an improved design inspired by the German FF33. It is also made of bakelite (case and body) and a keep it simple design for LB only use and it is much smaller and lighter than the FF33. In my view the cleanest and most practical and also sturdy design of the FF33 "copies". It was probably developed in the early fifties and seems to have been produced until at least the mid seventies. Its abundance on the surplus market hints to quite high production numbers.
I own two of these which apparently are made more than 20 years apart but with nearly zero differences. One is made in 1952, the other one in 1975. The 1975 one has a capacitor block where the common contact is already combined inside the block. Only three outside contacts for the two included capacitors, whereas the 1952 capacitor block has four external contacts for the two included capacitors. Also the 1975 one came with an included battery adaptor for a D-cell size battery.

Hello new to your channel and I've subscribed , I've got a field telephone system set up from my house to my outbuildings, all British ww2 era telephones , (or there abouts). I've also got an ff33, German ww2, the ringer works but my handset is cracked, I managed to glue it but the wiring had come away, tried to get it rewired, no success, quite frustrating. Interesting channel 🙂

Hi Stan thanks for watching and subscribing. Had a look at some of your videos and spotted at least one of your fieldphones, cool! :-) - as for the FF33 handset I assume should be repairable, the wiring is broken on the handset side?

@@fieldphones hi thanks for replying and glad you liked the telephone set up, my wife keeps in touch with me in the man cave with it!. Yeh the problem with the ff33 handset was that it had cracked so movement on the call button was possible, so the wires had worked loose, but also the 'insulated' stiff wires that run the length of the handset, one of those had come away and inside the microphone/mouthpiece a couple of wires were loose. I have a friend who is a keen amateur electronic 'fiddler' and he had a go but unfortunately his expertise is more modern and we couldn't get it to work ☹. Aside that the main phone is fine , it is hooked up to a bell and rings when cranked and also rings when the test button is pressed down. do you think the handset would be repairable?, I would love to get it going as I would hook it up to my system. All the best 🙂

@@fieldphones I dont know if you viewed the video, but I did one one the ff33 a while back. It's a bit long with me waffling on but i do describe the problem with my handset. If you look in my playlists under 'general militaria ' , you will find the ff33 video there, cheers 🙂🙂

hi stan - i looked at your video - seems to have been broken on the receiver side? i did not get exactly what is not working, transmit, receive, both? i posted two pics of opened ff33 handsets here: ibb.co/qDnmrYm ibb.co/9wp9pp5 , maybe it gives you hints on what is wrong with yours. if you have a simple ohmmeter/multimeter you can check if the cable is connected correctly, pins 2 and 4 should connect to the receiver side (via the "stiff" wires you mention) and pins 1 and 5 to the transmitter side (on the transmitter side you also have the talk switch in the circuit). The failure might also be in the receiver and transmitter/micro capsules. The receiver sides seldom fail but the transmitters can wear out. If you want post or email pictures (email is on my webpage) an i have a look - cheers :-)
