Oooh yaaah ! Glad you left the skeeters 🦟 behind in the valley n forest. The Goat 🐐 Ricks n Knife Edge is fantastic section but much more to come. This is my home territory the last 77 years. Enjoy you two. I like section J best but that’s my judgement.. cheers 🥂 Papa J
We watched this before our trip to do just this section in Washington, so prepared for the bugs with long pants, sleeves and nets. Expected the worse, but it was better by the time we started Aug 1, they were bad in the wilderness areas, but not as bad as you had it. You captured the majesty of the a Goat Rocks section so well.
Beautiful video! The music was so nice along with the views. My Rainier looks breathtaking! So sorry for the skeeters! Damn. Thanks for letting us join you! Lots of love!!♥️
You both are great, and just love the videos. I can sympathize with the onslaught of skeeters, hopefully they will be less relentless soon :-). Great music!
Really enjoy following your hike. I started watching because I was following Julia and Cory. I'm going to go back and watch your trip from the beginning. Good luck and stay safe. geek, A.T. '90 & '02
My goodness there are some awesome views in this video, thank you for sharing those. On the flipside of that coin the mosquitoes even made me uncomfortable just watching. Stay strong guys, pulling for you!
You guys got this!! In West Virginia and bike 3.2 miles with 11% grade. Made 3/4 of a mile and walked the rest BUT I did it. Enjoying your channel and helps me keep motivated on bike rides
The heat ends Sunday. Trough and some storms coming through on Monday. Good news is the six days of heat will have probably cleared out some of the snow at 4' to 5' snow levels in the North Cascades. Please let us know if you decide to come to Bellingham after the last push to Canada....
Awesome video Sam and Moriah the video with your music choice almost brought tears to my eye's today. I have to hike that section of the PCT. It has been fun to join you on your journey and watch how much you have improved on your videos skills along the way. Love your positive attitude it will serve you well in the future. Happy Trails
Hey, Guys!! Welcome to Washington... sorry... it's been a bad year for mosquitos!! I'll try to meet ya with a beer when you get further N. Hang in there!! Like I say... 'The Sierra are Awesome... but the Cascades are Awesomely Beautiful!!' Esp the N Cascades! Enjoy!!!
Oh, wow...I so wanted to pamper you at White Pass, but moving to Atlanta this weekend and missed you, it looks like. Ahhhh, Goat Rocks, Knife Edge....absolutely breathtaking and worth surviving the bugs to get there!!!
How cool to camp overnight in a meadow of Queen Anne’s lace. You picked the perfect time to hit WA. Hot and muggy. It can be really moist. But the creeks and lakes full of snow melt are lovely
Others have probably said this, but we had a long wet spring here in the NW, so that's probably part of the reason you're dealing with all those mosquitos right now.
Yay Washington 🎉 🎊 your going to love it. The heat is bad right now but relief is coming soon so hang in there. There's some beautiful views coming your way. Take care out there 😊❤
At least you made it through before the fire gauntlet started. Fire closures are popping up all over behind you two. Embrace the mosquitoes, it’s better than smoke.
You are getting heat but you are getting epic views of St Helens and Adams. So hopefully this stupid buggy weather means epic views at goat rocks and on knifes edge. Like Moriah I love the moss and ferns and trees and waterfalls of WA. But most of all I miss living among the snow capped mountains year around. How cool that you got such epic views from knifes edge without the bitter blasting wind or previous years smoky skies to see rainier, St. Helens and adams. That is probably one of my fav places on earth, the backyard where I grew up.
No more Truman? Watching TV? Carrying his load down the trail? Being super cool? Hope the sprained ankle gets better. It looks like you had beautiful weather on Goat Rocks. Goat Rocks is the GOAT - ha ha.
I did a bunch of hikes the last week in North Cascades and Olympics and I actually tried to see if y'all hike really fast or it just looks like it from the POV video, and yeah, after some experimenting y'all hike really fast. Also, the bugs were terrible. Godspeed.
100% DEET is my go-to for skeeter swarms. A high ridge with a breeze is the best. Gifford-Pinot, Indian Heaven wilderness seems the worst for them, I've seen people change plans because of them.
Omg I hate mosquitoes. Fought them yesterday on a trail near the Roan Highlands by a waterfall. I was just trying to take pictures of mushrooms. Those and the eyeball bugs can go back to hell where they came from. I know they feed birds and stuff but good God..what a pain in the ass. Love your videos!
In your face flies can ruin one day and into the next if they succeed in their plunge into your eye socket. They will leave you rubbing your irritated eye for days.
your day 124 camp looks to have been in the middle of a poison Hemlock thicket, or maybe wild carrot, hemlock will have purple stains on the stock and wild carrot has a tiny purple flower in the center of the white flower clusters. hemlock can be an irritant to the skin and is best avoided entirely.
Hey guys, let us know if you see Josh Perry speed past on his FKT attempt! Maybe it makes it into your next video. Should have just passed your or be passing you very soon.
At 13:46 I stopped to make a comment, yeah man it’s traumatizing they rip you to shreds and your arms & legs are red bumps blood & bug parts no matter how much you love being out there it’s miserable. You’ll get past em all of a sudden there gone and you lay there next to the trail shivering with thousands of holes in your skin. Ok…press play let’s see how our hero’s get out of this one.
Oh and I’m laughing out loud! Misery loves company and I’ve been there, welcoming Committee assembled outside your tent it’s F-ing awesome it’s a club and you’ve been baptized. Ha ha haaa..
Have you tried making a small fire to generate smoke to keep the mosquitoes away? If you bathe in the smoke they tend to stay away even when your away from the fire. Awesome views of the Goat Rocks! Doctor says, to remedy mosquitoes, take two goat rocks and call me in the morning.
We are not. There are probably 40ish hikers ahead of us at this point. We are currently around half way through Washington. So expect to see people finishing starting this week.
