Episode 3 - Pregnancy and Sjögren’s 

I luckily knew about my Sjögren’s before my husband and I even got engaged, so I was very relieved when I was able to get pregnant and have a healthy child. I credit a large part of that to my Sjögren’s being well monitored and controlled under the care of Dr. Vivino before even trying to get pregnant. Even knowing I was high risk, I wasn’t ready for the toll pregnancy would take on me. Coming off of my meds that help keep me awake during the day, working full time, being at maternal fetal medicine every week for heart scans on top of having normal ObGyn appointments and all of my specialists wanting to see me to make sure everything was going fine was exhausting. For ex: I normally only see my cardiologist once a year, had to see him while pregnant to make sure my heart meds were still at the correct dose once my body was changing due to pregnancy

I had two beautiful kids, became a successful surrogate and when we tried for one more I had two late term miscarriages. It was devastating and I almost died in my bathtub. I went to the doctor and asked what was wrong, she did a full blood test and found out I had Sjogrens. I reluctantly got on an IUD and still got pregnant and miscarried.

Aside from the monitoring, what medication are given to Mother’s with Sjogrens, if any?
