Hi Terri, You give me the urge to make a baby blanket. I love the Ice yarn color way you are using. I don't have any yarn cakes like that. I will have to pick some up to make a blanket. I suggest weighing the yarn and what you have done of the knitted blanket separately and that way you don't have to guess as much, that´s what I do anyway😉😊
Oh wow! I absolutely love that baby afghan booklet! I've looked online & can buy just the front cover 2 patterns online or the book through Amazon but that costs $30 AUD!! Do you have a postage or kitchen scale? Weigh the blanket as is. Weigh the yarn you have left, decrease when you are at half the weight of the yarn in the blanket.
If you have a scale for lightweight items (I use a food scale), weigh you knitted blanket and your yarn, I think you will need slightly more for the decrease as I think it takes more to K2T.

I tried making a mile a minute blanket and I counted and used the same yarn and crochet hook and the strips never lined up for me. It was so frustrating 😤
