I would like to divide my lilies, Can I do this in the spring when I can find them, without killing them? Thank you.

+Lynne Babb The best time for moving and/or dividing lilies is in the fall or in the early spring. I myself prefer the time after they've bloomed because I can see what colour they are and how tall they grow which makes it easier for me to decide on a new location. After your lilies have bloomed you need to cut off the flower and leave a part of the stem with some leaves so photosynthesis can do its magic and get some new energy back into the bulb. Wait until the leaves turn yellow and then use a fork or a shovel and dig them up leaves and all. You can now move them to your new location and water them in. Your bulbs now have time to grow roots before it gets cold and will shine again the following summer!

i planted asiatics a few months ago. the flowers are gone and the seed pods are left. i was told to cut them off so the plant doesn't spend time growing the seeds (or something.) i was also told to just leave them alone. so I'm not sure what to do.

Hello Lillie, After your lilies have bloomed and all the flowers are gone it is best to cut the seed pods off. But make sure you leave the stem with the leaves to die back so all the energy can go back into the bulb. You can remove the stems as soon as all the leaves have turned yellow.
