It is so lovely how you all have more confidence now. You are a great channel and I always say ‘yeah!’ When a new video is uploaded. Billy is doing a marvellous job. We we all love to see how you sew together for a day maybe on a Timelapse with voice over. Big hugs from Scotland 💕
I'm not one to comment much on videos, but I just have to say how much I enjoy watching your podcast. The relationship you have with one another is so heartwarming. I catch myself smiling while watching. You can tell you all love and enjoy each other. Yes, I love the quilts and your fabric line too. Keep up the great work! 😊
Thanks, Sherri, Chelsi and Billy!! Happy 2nd Anniversary on the podcast!! So happy that y’all decided to start it on the scary beginning days of Covid so we all had something to look forward to!! Great podcast and lots of laughs!!❤️
I am sew happy for Billy being able to make a living doing the video and podcasts with y’all. I am certain he was an amazing teacher and just love what he adds to the podcast. Love y’all’s family dynamic.
babies….even dog babies. I adopted a puppy Dec 19th, she was 7.5 weeks, I haven’t sewn since, except for patching a couple pants. Have been training her to lay on a bed in the sewing room so I can hopefully resume sewing. I have a quilt top I need to quilt, missed using it this fall.
Hi Y’all what a fun topic!!! The quilts are beautiful!!! SewingCamp @ Mom’s😳🤔 Wellll why not??!!?! Even have Grandpa and Uncle Billy👏👏👏🥰 Thank you sooooooo much for using your God given talents(each of you) to share with the world! It’s just so wonderful ❤️😀
Hello, nice podcast as usual. I am one of those quilters who gets up extra early so that I can sew before work. It helps to have a nice start to the day.
Red, white, and blue quilts are perfect from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Then I like sunflowers until fall decorating. It just seems to fit with the Indian summer of getting cooler evenings here in Connecticut! Great show
Enjoyed the pod cast. My mother use to hide our Christmas gifts in the trunk of car, we always knew where to look!!! I’m with Billy on the Christmas in July - I think it came from lack of sales in the summer when people are in vacation, etc!! Love all Of the quilts shown - look at Chelsie being ahead of the game! Way to go!!!!
I use the ads as time to settle in before you start and the ones that interrupt as an opportunity to grab some water, stir dinner or whatever! Congratulations on two years! I've loved every single one! Excited to see the new fabric line next month and all the fun exciting things coming over the next year that you teased us with! If it's one I can't handle I will skip it, but most of them, if it helps you, I'm good with it! Another great video!
Sherri - I hope you'll share some of your summer Christmas items that you're going to make. I'm always on the hunt for Christmas gifts to make ahead of time. Thank you for all you, Chelsi and Billy do to make these videos. It's a rare occasion that I miss one!
My friends husband and my husband went on a mission trip last month. I told her she should bring her machine and we could sew for a few days! She loved the idea! We got take out and had so much fun! It’s now going to be a tradition ! A friend that doesn’t quilt came too just to talk to us and visit ! Such fun !!!
Sherri and Chelsea-just wanted to tell you how much I love your videos. I always looks forward to every other Monday when a new one is available , and I have watched the old ones several times each. I love the mother- daughter relationship that you share with your love of quilting. I have two fabulous daughters but neither of them share my interest in all things fabric. I have a new daughter-in-law that loves fabric, but isn’t interested in quilting (yet lol). Keep up the good work -we all treasure the time you give us!
Congratulations on the anniversary! I don't sew much in summer. Here in Iowa we only have two seasons. Winter, winter, summer and winter! I am outside June, July and August!
Chelsea - I love your facial expressions this episode! As far as summer sewing, I torn between sewing more because I don’t want to go outside when it’s 115, but I also kinda don’t want to do anything when it’s 115. 😂 As far as Christmas in July, there is also the added deadline of when you need to get your quilt to your Long Armer in order for them to finish it by Christmas. It’s common for long armers to have a deadline of October or even September for a guaranteed by Christmas return date, as September - December are often the busiest months for long armers.
Hi Sherri and Chelsea. I love hanging out with you on podcast days. In August I have a sunflower quilt and September is apples. Then in October all the fall quilts come out. We live near Pittsburgh, so decorating and adjusting for the four seasons is a part of our lifestyle.
This was quite enjoyable! Love the sharing on all the topics and the "quilt-sleep-over" sounds like a blast!! "Uncle Billy" is totally awesome with wanting to come over and help Grandpa!! Love your family!
Hi Sherri, Chelsi, and Billy. This was a great podcast. I loved the questions about summer sewing. As far as my patriotic decor is concerned, I keep everything up through the 2nd week of September to honor 9/11. I can remember Christmas In July starting in the mid 70's (yes I'm old). Thanks for the inspiration and encouragement! ~~ Hugs, Lynne
I do hand quilting in the summer. I live in Southern California and it gets hot here and electric bills are high - so no ironing in the summer. I also read a lot.
I have three hobbies, gardening quilting, and collecting healthy recipes ( vegan priority ). Love the quilt on the wall the fabric colours are amazing. Thanks for sharing. 👍❤️😊
Hello! I hope you had a joyful day! I just got out of my sewing room and sat down to watch your video. I'm enjoying your content and love to learn new things. I hope you have a fabulous week ahead! Thank you for sharing this video and your time.
Enjoyed the podcast. Love that Billy is contributing more too! I’m starting to put out my patriotic quilts and just finished a red, white and blue pillow. (I always us Sherri’s tutorial for adding a zipper to a pillow) For a change of pace I’m going to start sewing mesh swim bags for my grandkids next.
I'm so bad 🤦♀️🤷♀️ I just took my Christmas tree down before I traveled to Texas for my grandchildren fix. I'm excited as my new quilting book Home for the Holidays arrived after I left on my trip so I have something to look forward to when I get back home. I could do Christmas all year long!
Y’all are hilarious! I was also told that Christmas in July was for crafters so they had plenty of materials/products available for their projects so the they have time to prepare and make items for Christmas bazaars/craft shows etc.
Congratulations on two years and now into the third! I’ve listened since the beginning and enjoy each episode. Billy is adding strength to the podcasts and sharpening his skills as well. Appreciate you recognizing the difference with summertime and sewing schedules. Keep up the great communication skills, enjoy your family dynamics.
Please tell more about decorating and switching out quilts. I moved into my condo about 15 years ago, I hung my wall quilts and they have not moved. I placed my quilt ladder and the quilts that are on it only changed when I decided to donate one. And I have an old sewing machine in a table that I stack quilts on - I just add to the pile... (I don't make "seasonal" quilts, I make VERY scrappy quilts.) So I don't feel as though any of mine say "Summer" & they for sure are not holiday specific.
i put my Christmas lights up late October when it’s still warm….i store some of the gifts for the grandkids…large gifts their oarents can’t hide. enjoyed this chat
cheers for sewing before work! house is quiet; dogs have eaten-so they are passed out; the hubs is still sleeping... best time to get it done/make some progress! rwb quilts/bunting outside - memorial day through labor day.
Hi, I’ve been enjoying your podcast! Glad to find the youtube version today. Checked out your blog and also ordered both All American and Land that I love patterns!
Congratulations 🥳 on 2 years. I always look forward to watching your podcasts. Did you know that Coats and Clark, Gutterman, King Tut and many others have “hidden” compartment in their spools for storing your needles? Just pop the tops off. My sewing machine doesn’t like Aurifil.
Happy 2 year Anniversary! I look forward to listening to your podcasts on Monday they never feel long enough! I just love to listen to you three. I’ve been doing a lot of seasonal stitching this year when it is that season. Currently I’m doing a Strawberry quilt 🍓 for Summer time. I’m not good at completing things though. Only things I completely lately are bags. I’m very intimidated by the quilting part. I’m going to look at a used long arm machine this week so I can get those unfinished projects completed! Binding is my favorite part so I’d love to have some to bind. I have bound for others since I love it so much though. Thanks for another great podcast!
For those of us who live in the Southern Hemisphere, we want to have a 'cold' Christmas experience. I always thought we had Christmas in July so that we could have the hot traditional dinners that you guys have in December. Maybe the tradition started here in Australia???
I just switched out my quilts this morning to my patriotic stuff to celebrate Flag Day in June through July. I’m saving my summer quilts for August and September because it stays so hot here😩
Happy Anniversary!! I am always so inspired when I watch and/or listen to your episodes. Thank you for taking the time to make it happen. Chelsea, I thought you home schooled your kids. Maybe that was just during Covid?
Really enjoyed your podcast again! Love the interaction you all three have each time, along with all the info and sharing of your quilts. I love Christmas in July sewing, it somehow is more fun, than when our late Fall and Winter months hit here in the North. Looking forward to your next podcast and sharing!
I have used tips and tricks to find matches to your fabric collections and love it! I went out and found some of your older collections, found that on your blog- it was a great help!!
I have the seashore drive fat quarter pack and ordered the solids listed on FQS and plan on making the Heartfelt quilt for a wedding gift. I'm so excited!
Christmas in July helps people get ready with shopping, sewing and hobbies for bazaars, and spreads out the spending to purchase some things early. it helps retailers to move spring items to make room for back to school inventory, which arrives in the stores early July
Good morning!! You are killing me with all the talk of your new quilts!! I can’t wait to see them. I have a question for you Sherri. You mentioned having a lot of gift ideas for Christmas gifts and I was wondering if you could give us some ideas for gifts for men and boys. I struggle with that. Most of my family are males and all of the quilting I do is very feminine. Ideas?
I'm a D&D enthusiast, so don't count out that crowd LOL! I spend literally hours preparing for games and love listening to Critical Role episodes while I quilt. I wish there was another way for RU-vid channels to monetize besides the ads, because they always pop up in the middle of the shows when important things are being said. Or at least a way for the ads to only be at the beginning and end.
I used to quilt in the winter and knit in the summer, since I could take the knitting outside. Now, I'm totally into quilting, so I no longer knit. Someone I met in a store once told me that she brings her sewing machine out onto her patio in the summer! I've never tried that. Even if the machine is in the shade, I'd be concerned that pollen would get into it.
I have started decorating for the 4th with my cross stitching and summer quilts but need more patriotic quilts. Billy…all the Christmas in July on the Hallmark channel .
Hi Ladies. I feel because of the southern Nevada heat I would think your summer quilting may be more than the other seasons because you may more likely to stay in air conditioning. Love your podcast
I would so so LOVE 💟shows based on your past fabric collections. I have been hunting down fabrics from all of them. been lucky enough to find precuts and yardage from all going back to Creekside. that means 10 quilts from past fabrics alone. plus i have Emma on pre order. i have been loving every new find and searching your patterns and books for quilts tp make from them. then i hope to have lots of scraps for some amazing scrappy projects. i would love to see what you have made from the different collections. also, do you have a list of your patterns that have been published in books and magazines, that are not available through A Quilting Life or Chelsi Stratton Designs? thank you for adding so much to my sewing life.
Love to watch your episodes on RU-vid. I would love to know if you both wash your quilts and when you do is there a special way? Also how do you store your quilts? In piles on a shelf in a closet?
In the Summer I tend to do less quilting simply because it can be so hot and I my condo does not have AC. There is no way I am going to turn my 1700 watt iron and heat the house up even more. Instead I try to get up early in the morning, take my list of projects I want to do in the fall and start cutting everything I will need to make the quilts. While cutting is not my favorite part of quilting it pays off when October rolls around and I can just start sewing all those quilts without having to cut the fabrics. People think of Oregon as being fairly cool in Summer, but last year we had temps over 116 degrees and believe me, you do not want to turn on anything that generates more heat.t may be why I live for Fall to arrive and I can get back into making quilts.
Hi Sherri & Chelsea. I enjoy listening to your family podcast. When you say you finish a quilt in a day, is that the top, backing with quilting and binding? I wish I could finish a whole quilt in a day. I don’t know a long arm quilter in my area so have to do all the work. Do you do quilt as you go when you do your own quilts? I’m thinking of doing that so it could be quicker and easier for me on my regular sewing machine since mine are usually gifted to people and there’s a timeline.
I have another question. (I watch your RU-vid and also listen to the podcast, so I get different questions as I re-listen!). I have an older line of fabric I am using to make my granddaughter a quilt. There is not much left out there, even on Etsy. What is the best way to find a good solid color match to use for borders, sashing, and backing? The line is not from Moda so I can't match a Bella Solid easily.
I'm trying to get ahold of the pattern for the balboa quilt along. The one that goes with the Labor of Love book. I put it away over a year ago and now I'm trying to finish my ufo's. Does anyone know how I can get it?
So, regarding ads- I subscribe to RU-vid premium so I don't see ads- I'd love to support you all any way I can. How does that effect your added funding?
We started playing 2 years ago and I've been DM most of that time, and listen to Critical Role while I quilt 😄 so yup, we are here! It's so fun to see how much it's growing in popularity too.
