I understand Mkhulu Solly's argument ,but according to my understanding there's always a difference between Spirit and Flesh because sometimes what's expected from a Spiritual person it's of spirit and not of flesh Hence there are 6 stages of spirituality which are very different and some spiritual people end up committing suicide or end up in a psych ward if not being a 2 edge sword of blessing and a curse I don't know. Spiritualists tend to really cop out when it comes to the core of the topics around African Spirituality. I don't know if it's because they haven't let go as yet. If they're scared to let go of white indoctrination. If they're still trying to figure it all out. Amen, if I'm hearing correctly, you were brought up by your Grandmother, basically ovela from isibongo sakoMalume. As far as I know, in my Zulu/Nguni culture, that is not allowed. The next level if this was ur Mom;s Granny I believe may be allowed via a sacrifice yeMbuzi or whichever is allowed in your culture. Not sure if its the surnam,e of your Granny if that is allowed. Its about isisu ovele kuso, regardless of your Dad ekufake esibongweni whioch is a now thing. I'm more concerned with how are things going for you in general since you've moved to your Dad's surname...You can just ask your Uncle's from Mom's side or ask your Dad what their viewpoint or stand is on dating or potentially marrying someone who has the same surname as ur Grandmother and Great Grandmother just to see parameters around that. In terms of how are things since I change my surname, for now it normal there are no good or bad things in experiencing at the moment and it been a year since the ceremony happened. ….ka setswana ke motswala , your cousin and is not from your biological father’s side so Batswana are allowed to marry such cousins because your mom ,if they married your dad, is not of your kin and uze nge nkomo at your fathers….she is viewed as an outsider to your clan . So they will bless the marriage/ relationship and has been doin it for years. Hence the saying “motswala nnyale dikgomo di boele sakeng” ….
