I was a bit sick during the shooting of this video due to my first AstraZeneca shot. Hopefully you don't mind the monotone :) Link to pre-order which ends on June 21, 2021: (non-affiliate) www.kickstarter.com/projects/epomaker/epomaker-ak84-aluminum-wireless-mechanical-keyboard
i had actually committed to getting the full acrylic build from this kickstarter, but you made me change my mind LOL! your other videos have been so helpful though, so I will definitely refer back to them to find a better keyboard to fit my needs. thank you!
Thanks! There are some big disadvantages on the acrylic and alu versions. There is a sale happening in around 10 hours of the acrylic Savage65 from cannonkeys. That will be a far more superior keyboard though it will be around 280 USD. Aside from that your choices revolve around the tofu line :)
Nice review and summary. How do you feel about the height of the keyboard, especially at the front? In addition, did you try other keycaps? Do the keys look floating with all profiles? I'm deciding whether to cancel my back ($89 option) as my RK84 just arrived few days ago. It is just cheaper (got it at $7x with Cherry Reds) and has a few more features (removable bezel, 2.4GHz, USB-passthrough). The only con for me is no Aluminum frame (plastic looks quite cheap, but moderately sturdy though).
The height of the keyboard is fine. I didn't notice it being too high or too low. It's just right. I haven't tried any keycaps yet since I had to move to another keyboard so I can't comment on that :( . Is the RK84 hotswap though?
Great video. I was able to try mechanical and optical and the mech version feels more solid and has less case noise. I blame the chocolate switches. The mech version also had more lube on the stabilizers from the factory. Not sure what was up with that.
Backed the 90 USD Tier (Mechanical Alu frame). Also vs Keychron , This pull ahead on software context. Keychron is Yet to Implement software or programmable PCB IMO, the full alu / acrylic/ Barebones are a total ripoff! Really interested to see how the chocolate switches turn out to be!
Yeah Keychron's software has been pending for quite a while now even if they promised it by last year. I honestly think the aluminum frame boards are the better package!
@@TheDredgenProject Yeah! I am a bit skeptical about keycrhon boards now, Considering how flimsy are their stock keycaps as well. Anyways! I am really looking forward to this board! Specially with Chocolate switches. And looks like space bars needs some tweaking. I assume the wire is bent. Straighten it and a bit of holee mod gotta fix it
It depends if you want software for customization. I'm not sure if Keychron boards have software used for customization. Also, if you backed up this project, you will get this around July.
Keychron has been difficult to work with as a reviewer. I wanted to review the k3 but my unit got delayed so long that I didn't feel like doing it anymore. I will probably do if they send me a unit but I won't be buying it from my own money.
@@TheDredgenProject for me BT means nothing. I am pc user ;) both at least for me needs caps change . This new gk1 font and Media markings arę just ugly . Am i getting something else than the case ? And also arę choco mechanical switches factory lubed as other confirmed with optical ?
Hmmm EP84 seems to be better for you. I don't think the choco switches are lubed, they are silenced. Other than the case and the BT, you don't get much. I agree the keycaps need to be replaced.
@@TheDredgenProject yeah , so if the only diference is BT and case i don't think so it's worth to pay more and wait few months . Have you tested personaly EP84 or you just base on other opinions and keyboard specs ?
