Another thing to mention for this headset, which is important to me, but seemingly also lacking in so many “gaming” headsets (built in microphone) is that the mic monitoring/sidetone is absolutely perfect. I can hear myself clearly and loudly, it doesn’t cause feedback, and allows me to not be loud and wake up my wife and children, which puts me in the doghouse. 😆 I’m speaking of the closed back, which is fairly decent at blocking out external sounds and your own voice, but also would make one speak louder without decent mic monitoring/sidetone. Absolutely loving this headset. 👌
I never realized how important sidetone was to me until I started searching for a new headset. If it has poor sidetone I end up screaming cause I can’t hear myself. I’ve been searching for a wireless headset but the closed back H6 may be the way to go for me.
@@pinatadonkey5934 You won’t be disappointed. While a lot more expensive, the turtle beach also does it well, as you can turn the noise canceling to the opposite side, which essentially amplifies ambient noise, to include your voice. If you want wired, I vote the h6pro. If you want wireless, and competitive fps gaming is your jam (footsteps), there really isn’t anything beating the turtle beach pro at the moment. Id be happy to go back to the h6pro, tho. Nice and simple…just more of a pita to eq out the harsh gun sounds, etc. If competitive fps isn’t your thing, I feel the door opens wider for wireless headsets. 👌
I just picked these up recently (shout out to Gadgetrytech - thank you for all the great reviews). And thank you for this comment, it was a selling point on trying these. Just curious, are you just using Windows sound settings under speakers and increasing the microphone volume? That is how I’m using it but curious if there is another option for sidetone? Thank you!
@@oOTheMastaOo240 They have built in mic monitoring. That said, I’ve since moved to the Turtle beach stealth pros. Still think the h6pro is a great headset for the price, especially if considering wired. It’s unfortunate that they recently discontinued them.
I bought these randomly as a gaming headset and finally get to use the Pro to their full potential in my video production class. I was hesitant to bring them in, but this review helped me out so much. Thanks a bunch!
Love your vids. You cost me $350 - felt like I needed some Maxwells after watching one of your more recent ones. (Kidding, I watched a lot of reviews on a lot of different headsets before I settled on the Maxwell, but yours was probably the best, most thorough one). I have been a little bit hooked on headphones and DAC-AMPS recently, for no good reason, and I am having a ball watching these older reviews (going back to near the beginnings of RU-vid itself, lot's of 8 year old vids on DT-770 and HD 600 type things - it's endless). The price has come way down on these H6PRO's, especially the closed backs, if any of your viewers come across this. It's pretty interesting how the pattern seems to be prices on a lot of models drop pretty quickly within a year, as newer models come out. You can save 30 - 60 percent (sometimes even more) if you're a little patient, and don't need the latest model.
After watching your video and understanding the difference between open backed and closed back headsets...I bought the racing green open back H6PRO the sound is great... I'm using it on the new Xbox X and the volume is not a problem...I have never liked the closed back there confining, the open back are great very happy with them. Thanks, great video..
Using an audio compresser fixes the issue of getting hearing damage. SoundLock is a free program I use and it works wonders with not taking away for example footsteps around you and then whenever you do fire your weapon the sound is reduced to the level of your choice. Saves your ears without taking away the tactic of hearing other players around you. You do have to be on a pc though
I know this is an old video, but I bought a pair of the closed back Epos H6Pros recently for £70 after watching your reviews and they’re amazing. I’ve owned Astro A40s, Turtle Beach Stealth Pros, Razor Blacksharks & Hyper headsets previously and none compare to these and cost more. The H6Pros is the 1st headset that I can clearly hear footsteps positionally and vertically on warzone. All the others were clear for left and right, but the vertical accuracy was impossible to differentiate. Also, my friends say the mic is crystal clear. Thanks for your reviews, because they are a bargain at £70.
Considering that Epos stops doing gaming headsets, there are some amazing deals to be found on amazon right now. I bought new closed H6Pro's for just over 100 euros. Thank you for this review!
Out of all audio channels, you are by far the best. Such detailed and honest reviews. I went through the pain of buying and returning like 5 different headsets including Harmonicdyne zeus elite, Dt 900 pro X and 560s, I took your advice on the EPOS H6 Pro and was lucky to get them on sale. They were kinda uncomfortable at first but i got use to the stock pads.
Ive used the same GSP300s for over 3 years now at my company. Lots of communication, internal voice calls, meetings and whatever were done through them. I used to work in an insanely noisy and crowded environment, and although the environment has improved a lot, Im still leaning slightly towards the closed back headsets, simply because of the natural isolation that it provides However, I use these 99% of the time for work, and with the additional of being able to remove the boom and turn them to standard audiophile headphones, I suddenly cant decide So with so many parts being removable already, when is EPOS making a removable cover so I can switch between open and closed at will :). I understand technically its going to be very difficult
This is the company who bought or merged with the Sennheiser gaming line…… i love Sennheiser headphones, i also used them with the shiit Dac/amp combo for the past 6 years now Actually i just learned that the were actually making gaming headphones in the Sennheiser department and ended leaving to start their own company , which is why the headphones have higher sounding quality than your regular gaming headset 👍🏼
So just picked my pair of open backs up two days ago….. I’ve been playing BF5 and a few other games to test them out and the positional awareness is precise….. especially in a game as big as battlefield. I knew where every footstep was coming from at a considerable distance. They sound amazing, they’re built to last but I was expecting the cushions the ear cushions to be more of a softer memory foam now don’t get me wrong they are comfortable but not as comfortable as I thought they should be for around 200 bucks….. maybe they’ll get softer overtime but that’s if I’m using them a lot I have other really good headphones to that I like to use ranging from Sennheiser a Beyerdynamics and audio Technica‘s but these headphones are definitely worth the money I love the braided cable for flexibility and the durability of the headphones the sound is amazing like I said and I am playing on the Xbox series X with Dolby Atmos enabled for headphones. They’re a keeper
@@PigletShady i do…by (shiit), but i also use it plugged into my series x controller Most of the time because my amp/dac combo is a further distance from where i like to sit. Using Microsoft audio Dolby options in my system still make them sound great even plugged into the controller
@@KashRulez77 I have the Hel 2 dac and can not figure out how to connect it to the series x without losing the 120hz. I play on a monitor not tv. Any suggestions?
Just ordered the black/blue open back ones, thanks to this video and other reviews for reference. I’m a fan of Sennheiser and Beyerdynamics open back headphones/sets.
I always love your reviews. They are thorough and give the exact information a consumer needs to decide to make a purchase. Damn though....I just bought 2 pairs of the Epos H3 to use as my main gaming headsets. I've used Sennheiser Game Zero previously do I knew what to expect sound wise. Now these come along and in my favorite color green. Ordered a pair of the racing green open back . Should be here by the weekend. Really liking what Epos is doing thus far with their headsets
Thanks for sharing Curtis! That green looks incredible. Please drop a new comment on this video after you've played with them letting me know what you think! (That way I get notified). Considering what you like and what you have now, I think you'll love them!
@@GadgetryTech ...Well got the BY yesterday and yeah they are great. Feel similar to my HE but the open back makes a world of difference for shooters. I think I'm going to use the HE for racers and story based games then the BY for competitive shooters. The microphones are similar but friends I routinely play with say the H3 microphone sounds clearer. Not sure if it's because of the H6 microphone being removable or not. Owning both I would only buy the H6 in the open back version as I feel the H3 are the better value for closed back. They are regularly on sale as I paid $99 each at Best Buy online for my 2 pair a few weeks ago
@@clawson32104 how do the h3 sound compared to the h6pro? My local store has just got the h3hybrid and the h6pro (both types)... mainly play cod/FPS/warzone
@@StickyGeko Depends on what version of the H6 Pro they have. If closed back then I personally prefer the H3 as they sound extremely close. The regular H3 though are $60 less than the H6. If your store has the H6 open-back then those are incredible for shooters.
@@clawson32104 so the open sound better for shooters? I'd have thought the closed were better. I've borrowed some Astro a40s, gen 2 I think, but I don't like their sound, but I do like the openness as I don't tend to shout as much and I can hear the Mrs when's speaking to me rather than having to keep taking my headset off to speak to her. The h3 in the UK you can buy between £65-90. The h3 hybrid is £149 which is the same as the h6pro here too.
This is an objective fact. this is the best review on this headset. think otherwise? then you are wrong. Thank you so much. the way you were objectively describing open vs closed is amazing. He doesn't wear a cape guys
Great review! Only thing you may have wrong is that the open back I believe does not have memory foam earpads like the closed back does. Notice how when you press on the pads they spring right back up, memory foam sinks in and gradually pops back up. I think this is done on purpose because memory foam is very dense which would not help with a natural airy sound design.
@@GadgetryTech hey bro always great to hear your reviews, one question I'm trying to get a dolby atmos headset for my series x I like single player games so I don't mind lots of bass great sound can u tell which I get a wireless or wired connection, which brand headset would you recommend
Another great review. Your top notch review just made a purchase for me and are on the way! Hope they're loud enough for series x. Thanks for your attention to detail and explanations. Keep making the great videos.
Great review. I believe the Elite controller would give you more power for the open back, I can't verify this, its forum chatter. I will find out tomorrow when mine arrive.
I got a pair of the open backs a couple weeks ago. I LOVE them. Gave my Astro a50 Gen four to my brother after a week. Going back to the a50 sounded like a muddy mess.
@@GadgetryTech I ended up getting mine for free with airmails. I needed a headset that would work with my ps5 and laptop. After trying the Epos I was not going to go back a50 for my Xbox. These make me want to hear the hd800s.
@@GadgetryTech I’ve always been big into A/V but it was just tv/projectors and stereos. I have dropped way way to much money upgrading TVs every year or two. I’m now super happy with my current 83 inch OLED and SVS ultra surround sound and it’s left me feeling dead inside with nothing to upgrade haha. Perhaps I’ll start dipping my toes into audiophile headphones. I’ve always loved music / sound tracks so I think I would enjoy it. I have been looking at the hd800s or hifiman arya. Would be nice to have one for music or single player games. Have you happened to try a set before? Would it be a noticeable difference? Thanks!
love the H6 PRO Open, sure it's not the best for all types of scenarios but for gaming its awesome! an upgrade from my GSP500 that I have used for over 4+ years. I Always swap out to the OEM cooling ear pads that I still have, back when sennheiser still sold them on their website
@@fishingwithlee9519 2 year too late but thanks 😁 I bought both and tried them. I sent the H6PRO back. I prefer a neutral sound of the PC38X. The H6PRO boosts bass like Dr Dre Beats.
Great review !! But man I wish these were actually under 200$ in Canada. Cheapest they go are 260$ no less. Then the new Hybrids go for 380$.. Oh boy :(
I got both. They are both awesome. If you can only get 1. Go with open back if your focus is single player immersion and closed if your focus is multiplayer and talking a lot. Neither is a bad choice. The open back does bleed into the mic if you like your volume up. why would you get headphones if you're going to keep the volume down?
this video made me sub to your chanel, excelent work! i have the CM mm752 and looking for an upgrade. I have watched many reviews about the H6 Pro, but none covered me as much as yours. I hope they are as comfortable as the mm752. it's very hard for me to find something that is as comfort and as good sounding as the mm752. Most headsets compromise one area over the other, unless you go way up in budget
Thanks! The closed back version has more comfortable/softer pads. The Open back is more firm but the Dekoni Jerzee series pad makes it even better. I would try them out of the box first though to see if it's even an issue for you
To be hornest, The H6 microphone you mentioned as warmth. For me it sounds more like an over-compression? Or is it just me? The GSP is deaffently more clear an neutral, as you said.
Bought these based on some of these video reviews and man, I'm still experiencing a slight headache 1 day later. Tried them for a full day and nah, not worth the $160. Footsteps are louder but the highs are way too sharp to the point of causing earaches. I even used an Astro Mixamp and they sound worse with the Dolby turned on than off. Used them by themselves connected to controller and the volume is weak. I will say they are VERY comfortable and look very nice, but being in pain after a few matches and damaging my hearing isn't worth it. Maybe they work better for PC gaming with tons of time spent adjusting EQ settings.
It's important to consider what kind of gaming you're doing. Closed is better for competitive, open is better for immersive so long as your space is quiet enough.
So does this mean the open back are not the best option to work at a call center? 😁Serious question: How do these Senheiser-built EPOS compare to the PC 38X ? Thanks in advance!
Not sure how I ever missed this question, sorry!! Better late than never so hear goes... The PC38X has a slight more neutral sound profile. I think the soundstage is slightly better on the PC38X but only by a small amount. I like the pads on the PC38X a lot, with the smooth pads feel very pillow-like. They work well with everything and are pretty forgiving without losing too much detail at all which is great. The H6PRO has a slight v-shape sound but only by a small amount. The H6PRO open back has slightly more bass and more oomph to the sound and overall has higher power handling. So if you like explosions or dynamic sound at higher volume, the H6PRO is easily the pick here. The H6PRO closed back is very different to both of the ones above. The bass much stronger and has a lot more "slam" to then. They are also much more sensitive and overall get much louder than both of the open backs mentioned above. If you don't mind a slightly hyper-focused sound reproduction that a closed back gives you, these are still really nice. They also come with the nicest pads here with gel infused memory foam.
Great review! You answered just about every question I had as I was watching it. I'm tempted to pick one of these up, but I really did not like the GSP 600 at all so that's making me want to pump the brakes a little. So if you're going to play some Warzone with the boys tonight, which headset are you grabbing?
100% used the H6PRO the past few time's I've played. Absolutely love this headphone. The GSP600 was amazing for certain listening but lacked a tiny bit of detail with footsteps that the H6PRO solved. If you like some gaming headsets but want elevated sound quality and comfort, get the closed back. If you come from a music headphone side and want to get something good for gaming, get the open-back, as that are a little more natural sounding.
@@GadgetryTech Thanks for your response. I have a couple pairs of decent open back headphones for music/gaming - Phillips Fidelio X2HR and Phillips SHP9500 (sort of redundant I know). I pair the Fidelios with a Vmoda boom mic pro. It's decent but I want a bit more punch for game audio, so I think I will give the closed back H6Pro a whirl. Btw, do you review any amp/dac hardware? I use a Sennheiser GSX 1000 but wondering if there's something better out there.
Hey dude, I know this is an old video but I wanted to say you've been so helpful. I'm coming from the old Seinheiser Game Ones and looked at a replacement and these seemed to be the way to go. Do you have any EQ settings/profiles you've made and willing to share? I just picked these up and you know far more than me about polishing the sound up.
So wtf do I do if I don't want a headset on my head 5 hours a day in conference meetings, nor do I have space for a stationary table mic or boom mic or similar, but want improved audio for my conference calls. Those tiny clip on mics sound awful. The world needs an answer to this. They should develop a flexible solution like the ones on the gamer sets but with an attachment patent so it can be worn under the shirt - or attached to the monitor or something. Perhaps the Antlion Audio ModMic is the closest thing to that.
I am thinking about buying the GSA 601C earpads with cooling gel and putting them on my H6Pro open backs. Do you have any experience with putting closed back earpads on the H6Pro's open back variant? I don't want to alter the sound negatively, however the cooling aspect and hopefully making the footsteps slightly easier to hear might be a worthy upgrade.
The sound is pretty nice, it's just not very loud which is lame. The thing is comfy af for a big head with glasses though. I got an open box open back for 55 bucks. Great headset just need them to be louder for music
Hey man, thanks for the review. You are by far my favourite reviewer while I am looking for a new headset for my Xbox Series X. So I have kind of given up on wireless gaming headsets since they all seem to be getting connection problems which I want to avoid. I have an old Sennheiser GSP 300 headset (wired) which I want to replace. I would like to go for the open-back version of the H6PRO, but I am kinda worried about the volume as you were talking about it. Do you think that the open back version could be too quiet for playing on Xbox? Would you definitely recommend the closed back more? I am kind of inbetween those the open or closed variant at the moment.
If you haven't completely given up on wireless I would recommend the LucidSound LS50X the connection has been rock solid since I had them in March using them on my series X. I was like you I had to get rid of my arctis 9x due to the connection issues, then tried corsair HS75, razer with kaira and nari. With the LS50X I couldn't be happier it has never dropped connection and sounds great with black Friday coming up there will be good deals on them. For wired I love my PC38X and they recently went on offer at 129 dollars which was a steal. I have ordered the closed version of the H6PRO and waiting for them to arrive after this great review from Joe.
@@uncaring77 Hey, thanks for the headsup! I have read that the build quality of the LucidSound headsets isn't great and that they tend to fall apart after a few months. The PC38x are sadly not available here in Europe. The H6Pro seem to be best choice for me. The build quality on Sennheiser headsets is the best I had so far in terms of gaming headsets. I was also thinking about dropping some more money and getting the Beyerdynamic MMX-300, but I am not so sure how well they perform on a console without any additional DAC/soundcard.
I live in the UK and ordered the PC38X directly from drop it was 15 dollars postage which worked out about 10 pounds, I also didn't get charged anything from customs and had them in 10 days if you are willing to take the chance on the customs part it definitely an option for you. I know what you mean with the reviews of the lucidsound build quality the first pair I had from amazon the headband padding was loose so had to go back but this second pair I have had are like a tank I have used them everyday and they still look brand new. These H6PRO though do look great I am looking forward to getting them.
I just got a Sennheiser 560s for gaming, but im wondering if I would like these better as the highs on the 560s seem harsh to me. Thoughts? I want something with fantastic imaging and and good for fps games
I owned 560S for a few weeks. For Valorant I had to EQ out some of the bass and push up the highs. For music, I had to dip the mids a bit. I did not like the nasally/shouty characteristic in the stock EQ format. I believe 3khz was the shouty region.
Liked the review, but how are they compared to game one and gsp 500? for me an my big head I guess, those 2 are the most uncomfortable headsets I could wear, so much pain, had to return them, I liked the sound of the game one, which one do you think is better overall?
The H6PROs are much more comfortable than the Game One and GSP 500s and 600s. Much softer clamp force will still having a great seal/audio performance.
@@GadgetryTech Really even more comfortable than the Game One? I've been using the Game One for years and I find it super comfortable (can wear it all day) and very light. I'm interested in the H6Pro but it looks a little more bulky and heavier than the Game One. But you're saying that the H6PRO is even more comfortable? Did you notice any difference in mic/audio quality when you compare it to the Game one?
@@BurnedCookie I guess I have an abnormal big head cause the game one its super tight and uncomfortable for me, I even left it like some days stretching and yes it was better but still giving me headaches, I am using the shp9500 and that one is like cloud, dont even feel it, but now my issue is that I really liked the sound of the game one, for games, music, everything, that's why I'm torn between getting a new headset, I even tried the gsp500 and the game one is a lot better in sound, if the h6pro id better I might try them ..
Am into open headphones/set more actually it's my only choice every time But now i found the closed used inly for a week for only 60$ While i found the open + epos audio for 138$ And now am confused I used it mostly for gaming but i have sensitive ears and a hard sound taste Your opinion is welcomed and appreciated
When reviewing audio quality on analog headphones, you need to remeber the hardware driving the headphoners determine the sound quality. You may watch a review and purchase a pair of headphones that are described as having good sound quality, but if your audio hardware is not great, that same pair of headphones will not sound as good as you'd expect it to be. Or even sound the same as another pair of cheap headphones you have. That's why people buy standalone DACs as the built in PC audio hartdware on motherboards in general are cheap parts and so deliver poor sound quality.
Great review sir. Im currently sitting with the pc38x, as my first openback headset. I must admit that i prefer closed back over open back, since I am often on lan etc.. So my question is, do you think it would be worth it for me to switch from the pc38x, to the EPOS H6PRO Closed? Im also using a Creative Sound Blaster X3, fyi.
No. PC38X is still fire. This would be more of a lateral move than an upgrade. If you want closed back your options are numerous. Also note that Sennheiser is no longer affiliated with EPOS, so you may or may not get the 'Sennheiser' sound you are familiar with.
I don’t know if you still care about this topic but I honestly don’t know what @Alexander Vice is talking about. If you prefer closed-backs then it is absolutely worth it to switch from the pc38x to EPOS H6Pro closed which is exactly what I did. I have the pc38x and it’s collecting dust now. I’ve tried several headsets and headphones, the EPOS H6Pro is the best package for me personally.
@@kabloom6776 thank you so much! I still use the PC38X, but yea.. still considering to switch. Closed back would be so nice in some scenarios, but i don't know if it is worth or not. It a bunch of money in my world.
I'm currently using ASTRO A50, but the flip to mute has broken on the mic and I haven't been able to speak in VC for a few months. It's also been unpairing from the dock frequently, which is a pain as to repair it I have to flash the firmware every time. I've always been happy with the sound and mic (when it worked) quality though. Given the issues it's been giving me I've been shopping around for something new. These have been one of the main contenders on my list. Are you familiar with the a50, if you are is the sound profile better? I have no issue with a wired headset as everything is routes through my custom chair. Has anything else come up that struck you as competitive with this headset since you made this video, in roughly the same price range? The a50 was 300$ and that's about my price cap.
H6PRO is superior for both sound quality and imaging performance. The HS80 brings wireless convenience. It's still a nice headset but you can only offer so much at the $150 price point.
I still like the open-back more, so I would just give it a shot and see what you think. If you play on an Xbox controller it "may" not get as loud as you like, but the sound quality is excellent. Otherwise you can always switch it up later!
@@GadgetryTech Thank you! To give an idea from where I'm coming from. This will be my first open back. I'm currently using V-Moda M100's with a Schiit stack or into my Zoom H6 (just depends on if I want monitoring) , and the imaging/soundstage leaves a lot to be desired. I just found myself missing little nuances and details. I do plan on using this with a PS5/Xbox controller for when I do some console gaming as well, so the quietness was concerning, but I'm not really a person that blasts my headphones. Essentially this will be my All In One headset for gaming, and for when I'm sim racing since using my dedicated mic/boom arm isn't practical for that.
@@shawnvilaisack The closed backs will be a bit louder but if sound stage is what you're looking for an open back is tough to beat. Volume may only be an issue on Xbox but I would test it out first to see first hand.
Im wondering if you can hear the wheel motors sound with the open back version. this ofcourse depends on the wheel you are using. I use the T300rs and i am afraid i will hear the motors on it when playing. Could i have your take on this, since i assume you got yours by now
@@noash973 I haven't noticed the motors on the T300 in game. But I haven't really been hearing for them either. If it's silent you can definitely hear them. I did buy a pair of the closed just to compare and see if I liked them more. I didn't and ended up giving them away. If you want pure isolation get the closed. I prefer the open so I can hear myself speak as well as hear my surroundings.
I don't know if it's because plugging a headset into the PS controller (ESPECIALLY Xbox) the sound isn't great. Is there an option to plug these babies into the USB A input of the PS5? or would that even help and I'm being silly for even asking?
This is a great review, and I know this is super late from the review. Do you think for competitive gaming, specifically Xbox, this or the Astro a40 is the better pickup? Also, what’s the difference- if there is any - in the headphone being connected to a 3.5 mm - these to a controller, a usb connection - Astro a40, or an optical connection like the old Astro setup?
Personally, I am replacing my Astro a40 with the h6pro because it stopped working. I’m ordering it on my pay day on August 15th and if you want I can tell you which I think sounds better if that would help.
@@vex7830 thank you! I just ordered the h6 pro. It should be here tomorrow. The deciding factor was the redesign a10 didn’t fit my ears. And I felt I got the astros I wanted with the a10. So I was okay with getting something different
H6PRO is better than the A40 headset, especially in the closed back version. When you add the Mixamp, things get complicated, but overall the H6PRO will still sound better.
What would be the most appropriate DAC/AMP without going overboard for this headset(open back)? These have really low max volume(open back). Plugged into mobo(ROG Maximus X Hero) and SupremeFX detected impedance and set it to lowest "peformance" setting. Plugged it into the DAC that came with my original SteelSeries Arctis Wireless Pro and it was a little better but not much. Thanks
Sucks that nobody answered you, but I'll give you what I have and works like a charm. One of my favorite AMP/DAC combos when I want to keep things simple is the Creative GC7. It connects to your PC via USBC and you still have optical in for consoles as well as like in. It has a nice switch for low and high gain and it drives almost every headphone I own. I use the PC38x a lot, sometimes I switch to the H6 Open but I do enjoy watching movies with planars with low sensitivity and I have never had an issue driving anything outside of my HD 8xx or high end planars. There aren't a lot of reviews out there for them but if you have any more questions feel free to reach out and I'll be happy to answer anything.
It works on all sources. You would still want to set your Xbox controller volume to 90+% through the Xbox settings, but then you can use your headset volume like normal
I’d be interested to know how the sound changes if you took the closed back ear pads and put them on the open back. Would it turn them into a semi open back or ruin the sound signature?
Great video! At the moment I use the GSP 300 and these sounds great to me! In the last days I tried the wireless headset from microsoft but the sound is soo bad in my opinion, it comes not even close the sennheiser/epos. Do you know if there is coming a wireless version of the EPOS for xbox?
I haven't heard anything yet but I'll be sure to ask next time I speak with them! At the moment I don't know of an EPOS headset that works natively with Xbox.
Not sure if you have the Arctis Pro Wireless but I do. Would you recommend this over the Arctis? I dont really mind going back to Wired even tho its been like 3 years?
I looked at both this review and the audeze review, and I wanted to ask your opinion. Having to choose between epos h6 pro and maxwell, considering that in both cases I would always use them wired, which one would you recommend? Also taking into account the comfort factor! I would like a fairly wide soundstage (I know that being closed headphones I can't expect miracles), from this point of view which one performs better in your opinion?
Hmm, are these replacing the GSP line? I’m currently using the GSP 500 with Astro Mixamp. Wondering if it’s worth getting these or a 601 for that home theatre sound. 🤔
Honestly it all comes down to your sound preference and what you find comfortable. This is tuned better for gaming and offers a more neutral sound, and I find the H6PRO much more comfortable for long gaming sessions. The GSP 600 has great sound but the clamp is rather tight and I often have to take breaks from wearing it too long.
Penrose X I hope to release within a few days/by this weekend. I've had to use it quite a bit more than I expected to get a better feel for them before discussing what I like and don't like. PC38X is a great headset, and the H6PRO (open-back variant) is the only one that's been remotely close to it in sound. The H6PRO comfort is much better though, and overall I like the H6PRO more. The H6PRO is likely my new daily driver as it blends comfort, mic quality, and sound quality in such an affordable package. I have a $4k headphone+mic setup that I absolutely love, but often don't like using them all of the time in order to save them for special listening sessions.
@@uncaring77 So I've been listening to them both back and forth over and over. I think the PC38X is a great headphone that's aged very well. The H6PRO has larger drivers and even though the frequency response chart shows it to be more narrow (20hz bass instead of the 10hz on the PC38x), the H6PRO has slightly deeper bass. I'm still trying to pinpoint soundstage differences, as both are excellent but slightly different profiles to them. PC38X has marvelous padding on them, like a pillow. Clamp force is slightly higher though so some people will prefer the 38X over the H6PRO and vice versa.
@@GadgetryTech Cheers Joe I am going to have to spend £150 now to find out ha ha. I will probably go for the closed back based on what you said about them being more competitive and should sound different enough to the open back PC38X to make them worthwhile.
Same here. I have had my cloud 2 for years now. The fake leather on the head cushion and ear cups is falling off. I have little black pieces in my hair when I’m done. Trying to find out what my next headset should be or buy another pair of cloud 2.
@@jmac6631good thing you commented here! I just bought this headset last week ago, the mic is superb. And yes, you need a DAC to make everything louder and sound better. I used cloud II's sound card for a temporary sound boost.
I have it. Review coming very soon. The ONLY reason you would get the H3PRO Hybrid is if you need it to be wireless/wireless+BT. If you can get away with a wire and without Bluetooth, the H6PRO has superior sound (especially out of the box).
I bought these and PC38X around the same time and these couldn't hold a candle to the PC38X on detail, sound quality, or soundstage. Sure they could output more bass, but it was bloated and not "tight" like one would want. It's a shame because they are very pretty, but for me it felt like the money went into the design rather than the sound whereas the very utilitarian PC38X seems like the money went into the drivers. I will say though the earcups got hot for me (I'm a velour guy), the H6Pro was supremely comfortable. The deep ear shaped cups were far superior to the PC38X which just barely fit my ears (and they aren't even big!). I wish I could get an H6Pro with velour that sounded as good as the PC38X does. I thought it funny they market the detachable mic as a huge selling point for streamers who use an external microphone. At that point why not just buy nicer headphones that don't have a built-in mic?
@@iTzRioZ Well I tried them back to back and was surprised how easy it was to pick the PC38X. Less expensive (easy to find on sale), sound quality leagues better, velour earcups that come with them, lighter weight. The H6Pro open back feel a lot "nicer" if you're going for style points, but to me function has to come before form. If the H6Pro sounded nearly as good as the PC38X it would be a much tougher call if the H6Pro sounded good. Maybe the closed back version are good for that sector of the market. I will say if you don't mind mesh earcups the headset will likely be more comfortable than the PC38X because it has nice, deep earcups with a lot of foam. But they simply don't compare on sound quality.
I'm sure we'll see more of this down the road. They usually refresh wired models first. If they made a $250 wireless open back for Xbox/PS it would be absolutely incredible.
I believe I heard you say to go with open back for PS5 and closed back for Xbox series X. Since I have both consoles, which would be the better option? Open or closed? I mostly play RPG and single player action games. Thanks.
The Close Back has stronger and tighter bass. If you want bigger explosions and a nice clean, intimate sound, the closed are amazing for that. The Open back has less bass, but sounds a little more spacious in open world games. They both perform well in FPS, but the edge goes to the open back. I don't think you'd be disappointed with either.
You might have answered this in previous videos, but do headsets like these need a DAC or AMP? Or would it be just fine running it plug’n’play? A little confused about that
would you buy them now after they shut down their gaming department? also how are they compared to the Maxwells? they giving me "vaccum" effect and i cant used for long..
@GadgetryTech Hey, thanks a lot for your review! I could get the closed ones for 80€ at the moment but maybe you allow me one general question: I am actually a hobby headphone audiophile and I have quite a decent setup for my windows laptop at home. A good Topping DX9 Amp/DAC with some good headphones of course e.g. the DCA E3... but now I want to play some online FPS games with chat function like DayZ, so I need something with a microphone and also be able to have a sound signature in this gaming headphone which allows to hear footsteps well with a decent spatial localisation ability. And since I am not a pro level gamer, I don't want to spend too much for that. As I said, how would I benefit from my Amp/DAC and still use a built-in microphone in a gaming headset? Thanks!
