what if tension is unknown? should we assume the total weight of the conductor is the tension? like if we have 10 lb/ft conductor and length of conductor between two poles is 50 ft, so the tension will be 10 * 50 = 500 lb ?
If we neglect wind pressure and determine sag for only conductor weight that is the equal to vertical sag. Easier way but confused it right or not? Anwser please.
At a river crossing an overhead transmission line has a span of 560 m with the two supports of the lowest conductor at 15 m and 95 m above the water level. The weight of the conductor is 0.394 kgf/m. If the tension is adjusted to 1200 kgf determine clearance of the conductor above the adjusted to 1200 kgf determine clearance of the conductor above the water level at a point 215 m from the base of the higher tower.
