The thing is Varna Vyastha is different from caste system as Varna Vyastha was a classification in the society on the basis of occupation not on the basis of birth and it was not discrimination but classification. For instance, I am a teacher then I am a Brahmin and if I am a sweeper then I am a shudra. I hope you get my point and secondly as you said that women were not allowed to read Shrimad Bhagwat Gita and Vedas etc, so I would say that they were allowed but with time the society obstructed them from doing it but from religious point of view, they were never prohibited from reading it. If they were prohibited then Mata Saraswati would not have been the Goddess of Knowledge and Wisdom. JAI HIND!

Equality is the natural rights for any individual, because all individual are eqaul , without discrimination gender(generally male and female) , caste , religious, majority and minority group and race etc. And indian constitution have give the right to Equality in article 14 to 19 . Indian constitution say that Equality mean that all people of the constitution are Equal in equal way . Some individual are not equal to other so indian constitution provide special provision for not capable person, like we can take example of state of india (some state to provide special provisions in the indian constitution article 371 ) .
