Excellent question during the presentation by Ellie Lock: "With horses being bred for bigger and more expressive movement all the time, is there a limit to feasible pelvic tilt which would make it impossible to absorb the movement of such a horse?" - yes, likely, which would explain why some riders prefer certain horses. But the rider's absorption strategy is more than just the pelvis, although it is that key movement interface. Limitations in one segment will no doubt influence the ROM and movement of another adjacent segment. For example, when the movement characteristics of the thoracic region were altered with kinesiotape in riders, there was a corresponding increase in lateral ROM in the lumbar region. Ultimately, I think riders will find a way to absorb the movement of the horse, but whether that strategy is optimal and even preferable is individual.
