I truly must applaud all of the jockeys that put their horses first. Even if the rider took a worse fall than the horse, they still stood and made sure the horse is safe. I'm glad to know people like that are more common than I thought. Cheers!

I love the grey who goes on and finishes the combination by himself after he's dropped his rider. ;-)

2:10 That is true horsemanship, a lot of people think all the professional horse back riders that compete at this level are only in it for winning and money, though that may be true in some cases, most do truly love their horses and put the horse first. :D

I really love what the rider at 2:20 did. He thought of the horse and jumped RIGHT off, and helped his horse get unstuck. Then he gave his horse a big pat. Very well made video BTW.

4:19 Ian Miller's face is priceless haha and 4:55 - 5:50 was so close!! That spruce grob is just the kiss of death in the derby sometimes.

I like how the rider at 2:11 was quick at jumping off to help his horse and then comforted him, decent of him not just leaving the horse to try and free himself.

The venting rider that immediately jumps off to calm his horse down should be an example for all riders :) I really love to see that some GP riders really care about there horses, even if they want to win.

I love the show jumping part where the horses slide down the hill on their butts! I could see my horse doing that if we ever went down a hill that big!

the rider at 2:06 is what you call a true rider :) he doesnt just put his mind to the prize, but he cares bout his horse!! i love that rider :) he should have been given a prize for doing that :D

I agree! That should be the obvious thing to do, but not everyone would do it. It made me VERY happy to see that!

my definite favorite is at 5:50 when the gray loses it's rider, than finishes the triple flawlessly without them.

Can i just add... that this video is 100% proof that even the best riders fall... so all the people who leave rude comments about people who post videos of them falling... watch this and remember... that all riders fall... but the real riders are the ones who get back on...

at 2:04 i liked how the guy didn't care bout the competition just the horse

@MagicDust112 It was the CN International, the rider was Casey Harrison and Kurr, if you look closley you can see the horses left front she come off right before they take off, and she is ok and so was the horse, the shoe falling of caused loss of traction and therfore he couldn't get his feet up, hope that that helps

@TheLaallee The rider at 5:30 is a femal, named Lynda Sotherland she did survive and so did the horse, She went on to compete at the 1996 Olympics and is now the president of Spruce Meadows, in Canada, where she fell off

This is really good! When I was watching the xc, I was just cringing but glad that you know. I'm still on like entry level eventing! Loved the editing on the sj though! The Derby Bank must be soooo hard....especially with jumps like 2 strides from the bottom! Great vid =D

it's amazing what they go through and they just get up and trot off, we'd be rolling on the floor
@ozzymite101

none of these horses were seriously injured... all of the horses walked away from the falls. i have seen the whole clips and they all got up, horses are hardy animals and these are top eventing and showjumping horses, their riders really care about them. all these events have great veterinary care for them. equestrian sports are just as good as any other sport... people make mistakes and fall sometimes to.
@journey001
@journey001 15 лет назад
If you lean forward while you're jumping DOWN you'll most likely fall off. ;) Cross country is a different type of jumping, it's nothing like show jumping. And if you look, they do jumping position when they take off, but they have to sit back and get ready for the landing.

usually most horses take the hill slow and steady and most don't get hurt, but there are a fair few that fall there.

OMG I love the horse at 5.52 he just all I got this now I have no rider :D made my day. Don't get me wrong I have taken my share of falls off my horse and cleared a few jumps without my horse. It was just funny how much easyer the horse cleared the jump with out the rider.

Glad he did get off o.O I was worried the horse's leg would be broken, but he seemed okay
@eventandagilityadyct
@eventandagilityadyct 14 лет назад
@equistera When these clips were created, no - you just get 80 penalty points, so you're out of the running placings-wise - which is why I love how that rider put his horse first. Now, though, you do get eliminated (it's officially falling) and you wouldn't be allowed to finish the course.
@xxassessment
@xxassessment 16 лет назад
Hm. So, despite the fact that the animals absolutely love jumping(they could absolutely NOT succeed at that level if they didn't, it's near impossible) hence the horse that continued jumping w/o the rider, the fact that their joints/tendons/ligaments are heavily supported by supplements-showjumping has fences which fall down preventing serious injury and rotatioinal falls(which cause the deaths) and eventing has become EASIER and SAFER over the years, competitons require soundness checks.

It hurts...a lot. Last time I fell, I thought I had a concussion, my head was in so much pain(I was wearing a helmet, obviously). And my back, geez, I had to get it messaged twice a week. I ride saddle seat, so it's not as tough as jumping, but certain exercises are tough to get the hang of.

either some sort of grease/oil or foam. most likely it's grease. Eventers use it so that the horses are less likely to get caught up on a jump.. :)

@XoxCrimsonLovexoX I agree! I broke a finger badly because I held on to the reins after going flying on a refusal. The finger still isn't quite straight, today. I would think if you have a running martingale, a loose horse would be less liable to trip over the reins?
@ozzymite101
@ozzymite101 14 лет назад
@EscyKane: all the horses walked (or ran) away from the falls... no legs were broken :)
@unbridged77
@unbridged77 14 лет назад
Yea they count it like a fall and the new regulation states that you are eliminated after you or your horse falls where as you used to be able to fall off and get back on and keep going with an acquirement of penalty points.
@94FatalAttraction
@94FatalAttraction 15 лет назад
Cross country is exactly the same as Show jumping except the jumps are made from logs and other natural items and don't fall when hit. Also, the riders technique is exactly the same. if a rider leans back on a flat surface jump, they r getting behind the horse's movement and thus pulling on the horses mouth. To jump properly you must lean forward unless it is down hill.

This video somewhat emphasises the difference between a showjumper and eventer's seat! Fair play, some of the sj falls were totally justified but there were a fair few bails that an eventer would have sat to, not to mention the difference in jumping position style security and subtlety!!! :-D

@ryckangeln - Teil 2 Artgerecht - ist je nach Tierart verschieden, aber ganz sicher keine reine Stallhaltung oder Anbindehaltung, Enthornung, Kastration ohne Betäubung, Spaltenboden etc. pp. Würden alle Nutztiere artgerecht gehalten, dann hätten wir schon sehr viel erreicht.
