lol, i thought he was gonna have to fight through the entire city of regime enforcers to get to the villain who barricaded in his citadel or something, but dude was right down the hallway 😂

My buddy and I saw this on the shelves for rent when it first came out. On the back it had a review that said, “Forget the Matrix”. We were outraged, but by god it was so good we almost forgot the matrix.

The Gunkata singlehandedly created the most iconic gun-fu action sequence in history. This movie really needs a sequel. Pure awesomeness.

I'll never understand how they didn't cast Michael Scarn for this. He was born to play this role.

I mean this is still one of my favourite movies of all time however this scene always made me roll my eyes a little. Like I get he is insane with guns and combat but they were all in a straight corridor hallway, no way those movements would have save him in real life. I just wish they had coreographed some more realistic behind cover and maybe once in a while when he gets flanked or surrounded use that Gung-fu. Also I wanted a more epic sword fight, kind of funny how his nemesis was super confident and got cut down so fast. I wanted to see him use katana more but the last scene when they do their gun dance thing again most was cool until they start spinning around lol dancing but it is still a cool premise, or idea on gun combat.

I was shocked to see this movie the first time. A new type of S.F. and very stunning visual effects and plots, the gun fight scenes were masterpieces and brilliant. I believe this movie set the start of new S.F. special effects and choreo.

They really lined up nicely there LOL. This movie was awesome!

Bale has never played a bad character ever. AND he's goddamn gorgeous. The man lucked out in life.

Fun fact 1:39 to 1:49 was played back in reverse you can see the string on mags and the bottom on the coats sway in an odd way.

I never noticed, but the magazines change all the time...some times they have the coutnerweights and sometimes they don't both before and after reloading with the ones he threw on the floor.

Very underrated movie... But maybe it is a disguised blessing: Hollywood won't try to make a reboot/franchise with it.

Imagine being so uncool and joyless that you have to nitpick this scene for being unrealistic, couldn't be me!

If I remember correctly, this movie was over shadowed by The Matrix movie since both came out around the same time. Such a good movie this was. If only it was released before or after the Matrix, we could have possibly gotten a sequel or at least made more money. Still such a classsic

I can only imagine this is how Christian Bale wakes up every morning. Literally fighting his way to the coffee pot.

I saw this back when I was a kid, and even then I remember thinking: "wait, why didn't they check him and take his hidden guns away before all this?" But then he started shooting and I was like HELL YA FUCKEM UP

Fun fact: Gen Urobuchi of Psycho-Pass and Tokyo Ghoul fame is a fan of this movie and published a visual novel taking place in the film's setting called "Jouka no Monshou".

If you are one of the 10 sentries at the back of the room, it is impossible to miss him, so in the first 10 seconds he is busy with the 10 firsts, he would get a hundred bulkets, those missing not included. Matrix did it slightly better because of the presence of pillars. Seems cool anyway

This movie was really ahead of it's time. John Wich before John Wick.

It doesn't make a lot of sense. But it's a well shot, well choreographed (at least for Preston), well executed masterpiece of an action set piece IMHO. :D

Glad they had those biker helmets on to protect them from the bullets.

a side effect of not having war is that you can't be ready for it it's called peace sickness the secret police were packing the same fire power no snipers no flash grenades nothing just rifles. I think if they threw a couple frag or flash grenades, they would have held out longer against Preston that's assuming they can pull the pins out before he shoots them.

The gun fighting looks kind of dumb just shown in a clip. However when you see it in the context of the rest of the movie its very well done.

A poor man's Matrix, but Bale is dressed well. Glad to see that even Christian needs to grab a paycheck now and then. Not everything can be Shakespeare...

I think my favorite part of this movie is the BS explanation of how gun kata works. Something along the lines of the position of enemies and the trajectories of their shots being statistically predictable. It is total nonsense that still perfectly fits this world in a way that doesn't feel like nonsense.
