USPSA is very much a working man's sport. The guys I shoot with all come from middle class backgrounds. You can get into it for under $1000 all in, gun, belt, mags, holster and have a lot of fun. As yoi get better you can put money towards better and better gear. Guys may end up with a $5000 open gun but they've been shooting for a really long time and either will use that gun for decades or already have. Ammo is the most expensive thing, way more costly than the guns, particularly if you practice a lot. During sane times, 9mm runs about $0.20-0.22/round. A 200 round practice session is about $45. Club matches are pretty cheap, usually $50 or less. The one I shoot is $30. Match fees may be waved if you help setup. Shooting is very much a working man's sport and accessible to just about anyone with a middle income.
