Pvid is primary vlan id. So if the port is a member of multiple vlans, any untagged traffic will default to the pvid.

PVID is port VLAN ID that a device needs to be a member untagged, the default VLAN ID is normally 1.

A Surveillance network appliance for local small business. Its good for deploying a network for customers, for example, offering home IT services. Fewer parts, less bricks, one device to manage - it would make offering tech support as a service easier.

The 3-in-1 router costs just $10 less (current amazon US prices) than a OC200, R605, SG2210P combo which would net an equivalent or better result, so what is the pitch here? saving a bunch of power cords and space? but then again, the switch portion of it does not have typical switching functionality, such as LAG/LACP, so this is more of a router-with-poe thing. Feels like this should have been a $199 product to attract more people into the omada ecosystem. at $269 i just don't see the appeal
@SPXLabs
@SPXLabs Год назад
I think space savings and for peopel who want WiFi only which from what I've seen at customer sites. Most people don't give a flip about hard wiring things all they care about is WiFi. It's better that it exists than it not existing giving us/other potential customers options.
Год назад
In my region it's cheaper then buying things separately.
@voltswagner

I don't think this is an accurate comparison. The R605 has 256M RAM vs 1G RAM. I'm not sure how much RAM the Omada service will need but (OC200 doesn't specify RAM). I wish TP-link would list the actual CPU hardware in their specs. Oddly there are several specs where the R605 routing/VPN functions outperform the ER7212. I think in general it's best to purchase separate components anyway, especially since this device limits the number of Omada devices, especially only two switches.
@onshisan
@onshisan 9 месяцев назад
You might also want to install this device in a structured media enclosure, where it could be advantageous to have a single integrated device. Features of this device seem suitable for a robust home setup like that where the AP limit won't be an issue.

You can bind a vlan interface to a port number, you just can't have any acl rules apply to your vlans. I thought I could get away with upgrading an existing network with 2x 24 port dumb switches. Had to buy a tl-sg2008p switch to get anything to work like it should.

I really like the er 7212 but i also do hope for an updates version with a bit more power, sfp+ instead of sfp and at least 2 2,5G Poe+ Ports. This would be the absolut banger for every home buyer
@SPXLabs

All of that plus built in wifi would make it an insanely competitive product.

@@SPXLabs for me personally i wouldn‘t even need wifi since i‘d buy 2 EAP 670 or 660 HD‘s. The total POE Power-Budget already is very good with 110W (already more than unifi USW 24) but a bit more would be great like 150W. You‘d have the perfect setup to begin with omada and lator on you could add a 10G switch for all the special stuff like a homeserver etc. All your Security cameras could be powerd by this little device. I‘m still not sure what to buy omada or unifi but since ubiquiti Standard POE switches have such a low poe budget you‘d need to buy the pro stuff and pay more than twice than tp-link 🙇🏽‍♂️

I was thinking more of competing with the Ubiquiti Unifi Express. Or something like the Flint 2. But either way all that stuff sounds good.

yes you can, you can make different Rate limits, The rate limit profile can be applied to settings of SSID, Client, and Portal (Hotspot > Local User and Hotspot > Voucher). When a client matches multiple rate limit rules, the rule with the minimum value will take effect.

On these omada controllers(or devices that ship omada controller software), What happens if you reach the advertised limits on the number of APs or switches it can support ? Does it refuse to add any more devices or does the performance degrade considerably?
@SPXLabs
@SPXLabs Год назад
Not sure. I assume you just can't add anymore devices but seeing as how you only have 8 ports and a 110 watt power budget you wouldn't be able to add 10 PoE devices anyway.

@IshanJain Год назад
@@SPXLabs Not asking you to try because it'll be a lot of work to wire it up but TP link should be significantly more clear on stuff like this. :/ And yess, you can't add more than 8 poe devices but you can have lots of omada controller compatible devices connected to switches downstream from this er72712pc

If I understood your question right, you need a managed switch hub for the ER605 to split the 2 public IP addresses the ISP gave you. From there you can assign to WAN and WAN1 of the ER605.
@MerlKorvin
@MerlKorvin Год назад
@@bmallillin ISP provided me with media converter and /30 block for connection to their upstream router and second address is /32 which is my public IP address for personal use. /30 is filtered from them and is only for use for connection to their upstream router.
