I culled this from interviews; From Marcus, "the band is just getting old and it's selfish to move on." From Ely, "the band should have broken up after cutterpillow" From Myx documentary, " someone threw a rock at their concert " From Vic Valenciano, " nag-iba na rin ang musical landscape.." Just like the Beatles, they got fed up with their image because they were stifled in it. They wanted to reinvent their sound but the some fans couldn't get along for the ride. I never used the word laos.
The Eraserheads were friends at the outset. They were through the mill and as John Lennon said of the Beatles' disintegration, " When the going gets tough, the manifestation was only within the group ". There are internal things that went on but they were not enough to break a musical bond. They were just entering a new musical landscape. They were growing just as their fans were. It's the inevitable.

Tingin ko lack of communication talaga pumatay sa heads. After ata ng cutterpillow or sticker happy di na sila gaano nagkakasama para magbonding as a group. Then umalis pa yung manager nila na si anne angala. Siya kasi yung parang peace maker nila. Kapag may conflict sa band napapagusapan agad. Pero ayun nga...kahit naman nawala eheads di naman sila tumigil gumawa ng kanta eh. Kung tunay kang fan maiintindihan mo bat kelangan naghiwalay.
I agree with that. Hindi lang ni Ely, silang lahat ayaw na talaga. Opinion ko lang. But it's just common for bands of that longevity. The price of fame.
I think I'll go with this one. Ely said in an interview na sana hindi sila ganoon kasikat before. People loved their music and had this expectation that the Heads will have that kind of music and image forever. Fans forgot that they weren't just entertainers. They're musicians who loved to experiment. Kung magsstick sila sa iisang "tunog" dahil iyon ang gusto ng tao, hindi nga naman talaga sila magiging masaya.
Sa tingin ko hindi talaga bad blood ang naging sanhi ng disillusionment ni Ely sa banda kundi yung treatment ng ibang tao sa concerts nila especially out of town. Sino ba naman ang di mabwibwisit pag binabato ka. That's just outright dumbness and below the belt. I think that's the crux why Ely doesn't want to reunite the Heads as a business proposition. THE HEADS' ZEAL FOR MAKING MUSIC NEVER WANED, IT'S SOME OF THE PINOYS WHO SPIT ON THEM BECAUSE THERE WAS A NEW MUSICAL TREND;RAP ROCK, EMERGING.
That was just a nail in the coffin I presume. The straw which broke the camel's back. The "cold shoulder" episode. I just believe the root of it all is that it's not working anymore, they are no longer that happy because they have matured as individuals and musicians. The collective spirit was undercut by individual creative promptings. Just my two cents. The Eraserheads was a tight-knit group. No roadie could just easily break the band-up if there wasn't a vital urge to sever ties.
I don't know about the veracity or falsity of the roadie issue. Irrespective of that event, it's just a circumstance that led to the dissolution not the cause of the dissolution itself.My point is the four chaps were just fed up will all the concomitant obligations with the Heads. The break-up was just a natural progression in every group. The issue was just blown out of proportion.
Now that Eraserheads are doing World tour. Last October nasa USA and Canada sila. Last April nasa Dubai sila and this coming August nasa Singapore sila. Akala ko disbanded na? Or thy wan't to perform on stage but they're banned for performing in PH?
Napag-uusapan kasi kung roadie-roadie lang ang problem. And for the record, not one ever admitted that was the root cause of it all. It's not they were lying, they were even honest, because the four of them really don't know why it dissolved. Still, a superb band.
Ang totoo kung bakit iniwan ni Ely ang Eraserheads ay dahil sa katarantaduhang ginawa ng road manager. Hindi siya na-inform sa gig nila. Sinasabi ng road manager na late na siya at ang matindi pa ay: Tinawag ng roadie na si Ely ay UNPROFESSIONAL
Totoo po ba 'to? But Ely said on Esquire he's really depressed back then kaya he left the band ng hindi nya man lang daw pinag isipan ng maayos or nag decide ng tama. I think isa rin 'yon sa dahilan. Pero kung ganyan ginawa ng fucking road manager nila TANGINA!! :( BAT NYA GINANON YUNG BUONG BANDA?? Mas okay pa nung kasama pa nila sila Ann Angala. Chill at masaya lang sila hays. :(( Miss them.
