I am collecting Erasure records and recently I found this large collection of 12" Vinyl Singles and Albums. Spanning their career from 'Wonderland' right through to 'I Say, I Say, I Say'.
Bought most of the 12" releases when I was a lot younger. Standout is my Who Needs Love Mexican Mix which was expensive all those years ago, plus I have a blue grey cover Blue Savannah remix and Rain Plus. But my pride and joy is my I Say x 3 pop up castle album. Bought it on release day and never played it 🙂
I'm a fan of Erasure. The vinyles i have are "Wonderland", "The Innocents", "Chorus", 'Nightbird", "The Neon", and Live album "The Circus Tour 1987". I will soon have the reissue of "Wild" album.
I think I still have most of these at my folks house. I had all (and I mean all) CD singles right up until Always. Sold them a few years ago on eBay, had some rare pieces that fetched good money.
The black US 12" of O L'amour is worth keeping because it's the equivalent of the L12 UK, which you don't have here. Both you have are the first 12". Some other US 12"es of note are: "Chains of Love" and "A Little Respect" because they have non-UK remixes. "Sometimes/It Doesn't Have to Be" US has an exclusive mix/re-edit, as well. "Chorus", "Love to Hate You", and "Always" US/Sire 12"es have mixes that aren't on the UK vinyl (which probably would have been on a second 12", if they had released one). The Canadian pressing has the same as US, as Erasure were also on Sire in Canada. I didn't get into Erasure collecting until Chorus. Before that, I had bought the odd Canadian 12", opting for these over the UK because they had more mixes (they often combined the best tracks from both 12" + L12" onto one 12"). But in the late 90s, someone dumped their collection at a used record store, all in near mint condition, and I was happy to fill in my collection. It was pretty complete, from the first single (but missing the first two, rare L12s) to "Crackers International" (but missing the L12 of Crackers, unfortunately, so I'm envious that you have it!). Missing were also the XL12 of "Supernature" (which I got for quite cheap via eBay) and XL12 of "Blue Savannah" (which my friend later got for me when he went to England). Look for the vinyl box of "I Say...". I don't think there's any special about it, other than it coming in a box, but since you seem to be a big fan of it, you would probably think it's cool. (edit// Maybe it's the CD box an earlier comment states. I only saw it once and it was behind the counter, and I didn't ask to check it out.)
I so envy your collection I would love it if you had a vinyl recorder so you could feature some of those particularly the earlier stuff and more so mainly the remixes.
Nice video Nic, it makes me laugh how you geek out about the music, artwork year etc. Me and my pals are exactly the same and can spend hours talking about music from the 80's and 90's. Keep on DMing, cheers
Great video Nic and what a fabulous collection! You've got a few gaps which can easily be filled but you've got the bulk of their uk vinyl releases. And they're all in amazing condition. Great to hear someone else comment about the artwork! It really was the dogs, especially as you mention The Chorus era and I Say and having the 12" really does justice to that artwork, it's not quite the same on 7" and certainly not cd or cassette single. Speaking of which, you might wanna look out for a few of the cassette singles cus I think there quite collectable and actually, the You Souround Me which the slip sleeve is rather magical. You might also wanna look out for the ltdcd Crackers Int. as it came with a xmas card. And you might be better off getting the limited cd version of I Say, it came in a gate fold 12" sleeve with a popup castle inside. I doubt whether they'd have any left but I'm sure Lexer found a heap of copies a while ago and were selling them off for a ridiculously cheap price.
I recommend that you keep the duplicates I know its not collector savvy simply just to have it incase you scratch up some of them then your ass is grass now wouldn't it.
Have you heard of discogs Nic? Much better for collecting than eBay, and you can compile a wish list and the see how many off it a seller has (helps with making bundle purchases)
Wish had kept my collection i had back in the day sold it all to help pay rent in the 90s , as memory serves me right i had a blue marble vinyl version of i think was heavenly action , german imports were quite a thing back then
Very good, stumbled on this though I do subscribe to your other channel. Are you collecting 7 inch also? I collect vinyl and there’s nothing better than getting a nice clean record to spin
Hi just discovered your channel...great video i wondered if you dont mind me asking if yove been a fan for so long how come you dont already have these?
I never really had a big Erasure collection beyond the albums and a few select singles, and my Depeche Mode and Pet shop boys stuff was all lost over the years so I am starting a new collection again now :)
I love Pink Floyd too! I go through periods of time where I listen to nothing but Floyd for a while - you simply cannot beat 'Wish you were here' cranked up loud!
On one if the inner sleeves . I think its chorus album . A mother and son are on bikes were the mother is on a early mountain bike . ..... yes you just shown it .
Really? I have this, maybe unplayed. Bought it for 50% off or something back in the day. I remember it coming with the Mute Documentary Evidence, CD-size booklet. Have "I Say..." vinyl, as well. Regret not getting the "Erasure" vinyl, though, as I love this album. Only so much money and too much music I loved in the 90s.
