I’m Dutch and I’m a PSV fan, it’s my second favourite stadium in my country. The first one is de Kuip( Feyenoord’s stadium, it looks like an English stadium, it’s just a great stadium. I’ve been in both stadiums
@@JF1908x Feyenoord never ever plays European. Conference L is for amateurs. And even can’t win. It’s a worn down stadium, but they don’t have the money to buy a new one.
The MLS in America has only been around a generation. Their stadiums are already as good if not better than league's that have been around since the 20th century. European Football insiders are scared of the future regarding US Soccer. Don't be fooled.
@@matti_re Soccer is a world that originated in England as a nickname for AsSOCiation Football and was used interchangeably with football for decades up until about the '60s or '70s. Other countries with another, more popular form of football, notably Australia, also call it soccer. That said, not being afraid of the US is a perfectly acceptable position to have about AsSOC(CER)iation Football or anything else.
@@alecerdmann8505 I don't care what twists and turns they can find to justify them calling it soccer. The world calls it football but the us just have to be the "the special one".
Philips Stadion is such a great stadium. It's smack-bang in the middle of the city (the only Eredivisie stadium for which that's the case), it's large enough to justify housing a club that's won multiple European titles but small enough to preserve atmosphere, it has the shiniest amenities, a modern aesthetic and it's still directly surrounded by PSV's factory worker roots.
I love how it’s evolved and expanded over the years. Like Bernabeu, no relocation needed. As a Spurs fan, I would’ve loved the original WHL to grow, and flatten the surrounding Tottenham area to accommodate it. But they kinda did with a slight shift north westerly
@@BrianStorm742 yeah I was gutted for them but playoffs is a good result for them. (I don't really support them , there just the first ever non English club I manged on a online football sim manager game, so i tend to look out for them...currentlyin my 8th season in football manager with them and got them 7th and in the conferenceleague for third time)
Love the prononciation of Niiijjjmegen haha. If you see a Dutch word with an 'ij' in it, it is infact an 'y'. So it's Nymegen. For that same reason Kuijt and Cruijff played abroad with their names spelled Kuyt and Cruyff on their shirts.
Fun facts: Artificial Grass is most likely going to be banned in the Eredivisie. De Kuip will stay Feyenoord's stadium, all plans to move have been cancelled. Even though I'm not a Feyenoord fan it has the best ambiance due to it literally being 'a tub' Goffertstadium will likely have some maintenance going on soon as one section of the grandstand collapsed with fans on it. (Away fans section during the derby vs Vitesse) If the Netherlands host the Nations League final de GrolschVeste will most likely be one of the venues if not THE venue. de Galgenwaard Bunnikside single tier is mostly full or even over capacity in important games with it almost every time being a standing grandstand even though everyone has a seat. GelreDome is arguably the worst Dutch stadium, it is almost always empty during league games, literally just better as a concert hall.
I'm not sure artificial turf will get banned. Yes, Heracles got relegated and they were the ones blocking new guidelines, but it's not known whether Emmen and Volendam will cooperate.
Arnhem Land is a region of Australia located in the North. It's named after a ship which was named after the city. It's very remote and most travel is done by (smaller) airplanes. It's an extremely gorgeous region, although dangerous animals also seemed to have gotten that memo. It's coastal so there might be lighthouses, but then there's also not any port or anything so I wouldn't be sure if there is.
at 2.17. What a line up for Emmen Retropop 2018!! Bryan Ferry, Anastacia, Bananarama and Ronan Keating. And i'm sure Chef's Special must be brilliant to be billed above a One Show presenter and Magic FM breakfast DJ. Glastonbury can only look on in envy!!
OMG thanks! This brings me back to the year 1997. It was Saturday morning, I had a bowl of frosties ready and I was hyped for the new "Van Donge & De Roo" Episode
Proud to be Vitesse Arnhem supporter (GelreDome, 21.248). Mostly just 15.000 fans visiting a match, but that's because we also like the design of the chairs, so.. we let them empty to enjoy them! 😆👍🏻 💛🖤
Hilarious video! De kuip is my favourite for sure, but we have some other very nice ones. Also in the Eerste divisie you find some good ones, for example, the Nac, Graafschap and Roda JC ones are absolutely great stadiums. Quick top 5 1. De Kuip 2. Grolsch Veste 3. Euroborg 4. Het Kasteel 5. Abe Lenstra stadion And honorouble mentions (because eerste divisie) Parkstad Limburg en Vijverberg.
The fact that de Kuip has what looks like temporary stands near the fields is due to they are shortend. At first ground stands were till the stairs towards first ring. But was cut down due to safety regulations since fans were able to climb over from groend stands to first ring to riot
I don't understand why Europeans like to put walls hanging down from the roofs at the ends of stands... Why would you want to obstruct the view? In America we leave views open like that. We even build stadiums with gaps in corners and whatnot for the sake of keeping a good view sometimes. lol.
It is so interesting that the Eredivisie has big stadiums like Ajax and PSV's but have small ones as well like the Go Ahead Eagles stadium. You don't really see that in any other big European league.
I think this year has one of the lowest average capacity in the last 10 years or so in the eredivisie, a lot of semi big clubs got relegated and replaced by clubs with below 10k capacity. So its a pretty big contrast rn
@@JF1908x True enough, but he's done whole videos on minor conference college football stadiums that people outside of those towns don't even care about and sports leagues in other countries that no one outside said country cares about, so including a college football stadium that seats 106,000 in a city of 75,000 is well within the tradition of this channel.
A run of all the stadiums in all first leagues of Europe would be an excellent segment I reckon. Since it is the pre-season at the moment, it would be a nice way to lead us up to it. And as someone who had first hand experience with ALDI's horrendous treatment of its workers, I have to say "Fuck ALDI" indeed! And two tonnes of "fuck" on top of that as well! Good on ya mate
Your probably the first person I have ever heard from that you like the Gelredome. Its cool they can open and close the roof and drive the pitch out of the stadium making it multifunctional. But it looks absolutley hideous. There are no corners, just 8 boring grey walls. Just ugly colours and patern for the stands. Also known as a verry empty stadium during games. Vitesse definitely needs a smaller stadium
You think pronouncing G as H is bad, try to pronounce the names of Polish stadiums. Also they have become unrecognizable since their previous looks (recently two of the 18). Could you please do that?
I know what you mean. I was in Poland recently and on the train, I would hear the announcement for the next station and then see the sign for the station and assume they made a mistake, because it sounded nothing like it was spelled.
I have enough confidence in the Netherlands' ability to move water that I'm sure they found a solution, but the downward tilting roofs really look like spouts that would dump water on some poorly placed seating.
In the Netherlands even normal houses have rain water gutters... You can walk on the sidewalks without any problems. And we collect waste water in underground pipes, called sewers, very advanced system.
It should be possible without having to interfere with the train tracks, but the stadium and train station (and cycling paths) would indeed have to be more integrated in one another.
Can you do the Irish SSE First Division (second tier) stadiums they range from 609 seats to 6,500 seats and are all very different. Bishopsgate Carlisle Grounds RSC Eamon Deacy park Finn Park Markets Field St Coleman’s Park (Hometown of Roy Keane) Athlone Stadium Mounthawk Park Ferrycarrig Park
Idk where you found the van donge and the roo... But that stuff isn't known with me atleast. Als iemand me kan verrijken in deze kennis dan graag maar Google verteld me niets
