Her reviews on the ErgoBaby highchair convinced me to buy it. It just looked better to me the z shape of the Tripp trapp. After buying the Ergobaby I knew I regretted it, but I decided to give it time. After 2 months I knew I hated it and I bought the StokkeSteps and I LOVE IT!!!!!! Some reasons why- Ergo baby: Bowl shape makes it difficult for baby to sit up straight. They are either leaning forward to reach the tray with no back support, or leaning back for support and unable to reach the tray. The tray is also very high up at chest level for my 8 month old. The high chair is extremely hard to move across the floor so even as a toddler tower it’s awful. The foot bar is not adjustable, only one setting. My 8 month old couldn’t touch the foot bar on the ergo baby either. You could maybe have one extra/lower foot option if you had the toddler tower piece but that’s it. Stokke step: tray is waist height, and baby is nice and close to the tray so she doesn’t have to lean forward and can reach her food, the back rest can be moved back more though as the child grows. 90-90 degree for waist and knees. My 8 month old can actually touch with flat feet the foot bar at the highest setting with many other setting options to adjust to. Just as easy to clean imo. The buckle is a lot easier to clip in then the ergo baby too. The steps also is much better at being pushed up to the table then the ergo without the tray- both because of the height of the chair and the ergo is so difficult to push you also don’t need any tools to adjust the foot bar on the steps! Just twist the handles on each side and slide!

For anyone reading this: The chair she is referencing loving is NOT the one in this comparison but this one: bit.ly/3MmDYWa It is a GREAT high chair but does NOT come with the tray which does make it a pricier option ultimately (nothing wrong with that, just a heads up!) I noted in the video my biggest complaint was the difficulty sliding this, and it did take a couple months for ours to get dirty/slide easily. We still use this EVERY DAY 7 months later - but we also didn't start on it with a 6 month old so the backing wasn't an issue. Many many many food experts suggest (and I mentioned to someone else below) rolling up a small towel and placing at the base of a babies back to get them in an upright position while eating if their core isn't holding them upright - this could ALSO mean that your child isn't ready for solids yet too! But that's a whole other discussion haha! I can't speak to the clips on the Stepps high chair as I don't have experience with it but can say it is NOT the same as their Tripp Trapp. The Stepps is definitely worth considering as well as their Nomi chair (bit.ly/49cHix1) if you're nervous about the curved back or slid-ability of the Ergobaby! Again for us, and like I said in the video, it's a good budget hack if you want a nice high chair and toddler tower and we're still huge fans! I haven't gone in depth but if I was choosing the best for ease and development (not versatility) amongst the 3 I'd probably go with the Nomi because it's the lightest and easiest to clean; and the tripp trapp isn't even a contender! I hope this helps!! Feel free to drop me any more Qs!

Yep I’m convinced thank you for this!! I am selling my Tripp trapp this weekend and getting the ergo one. I almost got the Bugaboo giraffe then I saw that the trey on that one too has no way to suction plates so it was an immediate no. Thank you!!

yeah i will say, the grey tray on this one is pretty skinny so it def won't fit all suction plates. but like i said, i just use it as a plate itself sometimes lol my little one is almost 2 now so we just push it up to the table for the most part though

Thanks! I didn't realize that it was such a pain to get a toddler in and out with the stokke without removing the straps. Love that they can get themselves into the chair with the Ergo. Is the Ergo difficult to push into the table if having them eat right at the table without the tray?

it's definitely hard at first, but once the feet get scuffed up it's bout the same as a slip resistant dining room chair. Def not a deal breaker for the other conveniences. it's really about pushing from as low as possible (i think you can see where my toddler goes to pull from higher up it almost topples, but when she goes low it moves). But its good at the table height without the tray and the arms don't come out too far

What do you think of the new Nomi chair from Stokke?
@confidentlymom

So the Nomi has been around for years actually, Stokke just acquired it as part of their product line and I think it was a smart move. I like it significantly more than the Tripp Trapp. I would love to test one out and see how it holds up under an adult weight to test the "grows with your child" theory. I've seen some reviews and it doesn't look super comfortable for adults... with that said, I actually think I'd be 100000% more likely to use this at my kids desk in their bedroom than the tripp trapp and LOVE the foot rest and easy adjustments. The other downside I see with it is the lack of freedom to get in and out on their own when the safety straps are still required. Beyond that I think its much easier to clean than the Tripp Trapp. I think it's also probably more supportive than the Ergobaby one shown here. From there i think it's just what do families value more: independence (Ergobaby with the seat and tower) or a chair that grows with the child (most likely to a desk in their bedroom or something) that encourages proper seating. I don't think the proper sit position piece is a huge factor for the baby years (just roll a towel behind babies lumber if they are leaning back), but do see it as a nice feature for 3+ and beyond

Thank you for this comparison! I was having such a hard time finding any! Leaning towards the Ergobaby…but I’m curious about the seat. Do you find the seat is as upright like the Tripp Trapp or is it a bit reclined? I’m worried it will be too difficult (if reclined) for my baby when he hits 6 months and starts solids.

I thought about that while reviewing it and really couldn't come up with a decisive answer which is why I left it out... I think it's REALLY hard to generalize that, the seat definitely looks more reclined from the outside than i think it actually is (kinda like they wanted it to fall in line with the leg for aesthetics if that makes sense?) I once saw one of those feeding account on IG show a trick where you roll up a bathroom hand towel and put it at the low back to get baby upright, which is a trick they shared for any high chair. I think as long as feet are planted they generally go upright, but not positive. It's definitely not like a "reclined" high chair which I think is more of the issue, like stokke's infant attachment for theirs and there are other brands that have a super reclined seat they intentionally market.
