I just wanted to point out that in the video Jassie didn't secure the arm pieces with the Allen key on both the LX and HX so potentially the arm could lift out when pulling a heavy monitor upwards. Make sure you follow the manual installation instructions.

Jassie, Thank you for very informative and detailed video. I have a question tho, I have a LG 40inch Ultra-wide monitor will this arm support the monitor. Also, my desk has no lip its just flat. Is there any other way to install this arm?
@JassieKECG
@JassieKECG 2 года назад
Thank you for your comment Jaggi and i am glad you found the video helpful. For LG 40-inch, you will definitely need a HX arm. Unfortunately, there is no workaround for the no lip. You can get gromet mount but that will require you to drill a hole in your desk but for HX and a 40-inch ultra-wide monitor, gromet mount might not be stable enough. Hope this helps ma dude and all the best.

@JassieKECG
@JassieKECG 2 года назад
Hey 9988goat, thanks for your comment. The weight ratings are based on a flat screen display. All curved monitors are forward heavy and can cause a failure in the arm. For example, Ergotron HX comes with an optional heavy duty pivot mount just to support a 49inch, 1000R display like Samsung G9. For a 38inch curved, I think HX would be a safe option. Even if you mount 38inch curved on LX, it may wobble as you type on your keyboard, LX won’t be stable. Hope this helps my friend.

Nice video! what is the main difference between HX and LX in terms of arm flexibility?
@JassieKECG
@JassieKECG 2 года назад
Hi Jon, other than the much greater load capacity of HX Arm. LX allows you to get your monitor much higher because of its pole length (the pole comes in three lengths) and the LX in the review can easily carry two monitors side by side or stacked on top of each other (with an optional LX Arm, extension and collar kit) or you can consider a dual arm LX. If you want to put three monitors side by side then HX is the only option with a triple bow kit. The differences are too many to specify for each application for both arm. If you have specific questions about your specific application and it hasn't already been answered, please let me know what would you like to know and I can address that specifically. Rest assured, Ergotron has a solution for wide range of configurations. I have tested a 32 inch professional monitor on HX and LX both and I find HX is much more sturdy than the LX. LX is still very sturdy but HX is definitely studier. If you are mounting something like G9 then HX is the only options with a HX Heavy-Duty Tilt Pivot. I hope this answers your question, if I have missed anything, please feel free to comment again.
@shuhgaz5803
@shuhgaz5803 2 года назад
For the HX arm that you used, was it the regular $329 one or the $379 heavy-duty pivot combo? I plan on using the regular HX arm with a 32 inch Gigabyte monitor on my $200 Ikea table. Will the Ikea lightweight table handle the load without snapping at the base of the arm? Also, I plan on using the monitor at the left and right side of the table, where should I place the arm to optimize my viewing experiences on the left and right side of the table? Lastly, do I need additional parts for the VESA installation part (I've never done a VESA arm/wall monitor installation before)? Thanks for the great vid! It made me buy the regular HX instead of the LX because of your comment saying the LX still wasn't enough to hold a 32 inch without looking unstable/wobbly.
@JassieKECG
@JassieKECG 2 года назад
Hi There, Thanks for the comment. I used regular HX. You only need the Heavy-Duty Pivot if you are mounting something like a Samsung G9 49inch. Because of its extreme curve, it's very forward heavy monitor and HD pivot is designed for that. You'll be very happy with the standard HX and it will be very stable for your 32inch monitor. I can't comment on the desk you have however, I am guessing the 32inch monitor will be around 6-8kg which is not crazy heavy and to be safe, try not to extend the arm all the way out all the time. Ergotron arms do have a wider base, which helps distribute the weight and stress on the table much better. You can mount the arm where you want the monitor, if you have the arm extended all the way out to the left, right or forward, it puts more stress on the mount where the arm is holding the desk. You can extend the arm on most tables but since you have raised concerns about your desk, I would be conservative to start with but as you use your arm, you'll figure out what your desk can hold and what it can't. Hope this helps my friend, feel free to comment again if I have missed anything. All the best, you will be very happy with whichever arm you will purchase.

I should add Ergotron has revised the mount for the LX . It only has an Allen head screw to tighten the bases clamp, and a limited amount of thicknesses. I think it was 25-35 mm . Anyways my desk is just over 3/4” thick , so I had to add a piece of wood underneath the bottom clamp .

Hey Aleksandar, thanks for your comment brother. Small world hey. Hi Tirith, thanks for your comment. You can mount the arm on side of the desk but remember the monitor can only go as far as the length of the arm from the side so if your desk is wide, you may end up sitting in one corner because of limitation in Arms length. I also do recommend not to overloading the arm because in all extended configuration, you will be putting in a lot of load on the arm. Hope this helps and all the best.

If it's just 1mm gap, the screw should be long enough to still mount the arm. There may be some riser plate available that you can mount on your monitor and then mount the plate on the arm like the one that comes with a Samsung G7 Odyssey 28" 4k display.

Hey mate, thanks for the comment. I just looked this up in the Ergotron mount finder tool and it says LX and Trace, both arms will be fine but having my 32inch on LX, I can tell you it's not as sturdy as HX. LX rocks a little bit if you type with a heavy hand on a mechanical keyboard (which is do sometimes) but it's still very secure and does not droop. If the budget is not an issue, you can get a HX and it will be rock solid, you will never need another arm again. However, LX is also a great option and it's far superior than almost all other non-branded arms. Why in god's name is this video 27 minutes long? I have seen extensive software walkthroughs that didn't require 30 minutes. It's self-indulgent to think that something this straightforward and basic should require a large investment of the viewer's time. Make a 7-10 minute video and wrap it up. As for why you don't have more subs, most people are probably going to think that everything is going to be equally drawn out and longwinded.

I just got a 42” LG C2 and am thinking about getting the LX as a monitor arm. It was hard for me to tell from the video but with the LX are you able to push the arm backwards to the point where it protrudes slightly behind the desk? Like this HX here: clevercreations.eu/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/ergotron-hx-monitor-arm-review-12.jpg The height of the 42” tv on its stands is the only issue and I’d like to be able to keep it the same distance from me if possible without wall mounting.

Hey tt, thanks for the comment. The HX doesn't go as far back as LX but for a 42" display you will definitely need a HX as LX can only support up to 32" display. On HX, you can loosen the lock screw to move the bottom half of the arm behind the base but that may compromise its max weight capacity. How heavy is your 42" display?

@@JassieKECG The 42” display is 19.8 pounds without the stand attached to it. I just checked and the LX technically can support up to 25 pounds, I’m just not sure if around 20 pounds would be pushing it too far
