Official music video for "Georgy Porgy" by Eric Benét featuring Faith Evans. Originally written and recorded by the band Toto in 1979, Eric's soulful cover of "Georgy Porgy" was released in 1998 on the album "A Day in the Life"
I love it after I heard the people play the song on the radio why I was driving. There use to be a fairy tail song that say that when I was a child. But they were always saying when the boys came out to play, gorgy porgy ran away.
@akinjones4903 I could be wrong about this, but it seems as if she pushed Eric to go off vocally during the second verse. Her subtle adlibs was the perfect assist.

When Toto with Cheryl Lynn released this track i thought it was sublime. This definitely does the original some justice and stands up well. Have a listen to the original ❤❤
I love this song so much. It makes me think about my child days when the poem Georgy Porgey Putting Pie first came out and he had kissed the girls and made them cry.
This song makes me remember when ppl used to care for eachother. If this happened now a days ppl would just record on their cells phones or keep doing what they are doing. No one would stop to help smh. I never knew how good life was in the 90s as a kid until I became an adult. This was the best music!!! Thank you Eric Benet for what you brought to R&B. We need more music like this to be mainstream again instead of the trash being pushed today! Maybe ppl will treat eachother better again hearing songs about love!!! I felt that emotion at the end when they looked at eachother when he woke up!!!
I've only heard this once before, and I didn't know that a video was made as well. Eric & Faith was singing their butts off on this. You can hear how the both of them pushed one another vocally, especially towards the end of the song. Y'all better sang, like my grandmother says.
This is such an awesome song 🎵 with vivid imaginations of when life wasn't so complicated, the great memories i have of this song makes me remember the good times thanks Eric and Faith Evans 🎉💥💯💫👍😊
Eric Benet got a lot of love from the Black Community, especially Black music lovers. I don't know if people of other races loved and respected his music. I used to always hear this version of Georgy Porgy on Hot 97.
Il n est pas beaucoup connu en France ce sont plutôt les spécialistes du r n b qui le connaissent Ha au fait je suis blanche j avais beaucoup d amis noir
Whosever idea it was to take a moment and stretch it out to make this video (in addition to the message and the REAL tying of the turban UNLIKE the wig store jawns for which Nick Cannon is known) should have received more recognition for this; even some versions of this video cut out the turban & cummerbund effect of Eric Benet, but it is no doubt a classic. Probably didn't cost much and is really a genius concept with a message. Beautiful remake of the Toto/Cheryl Lynn classic.
Have to laugh, I was playing this song late last night at like 2am as I couldnt sleep so I thought listen to some music on my playlist would help. My hubby says to me "hey you woke me up singing at 2am in the morning what were you listening to?" So I just let him listen to this. I have an office with a bed in the room, so when I cant sleep, I go in there to not awake him. Just go to show Faith, and Eric can still bring some peace and joy all these years later. Always loved her voice, and Erics. 💌
This is my favorite song that I have listened to regularly for decades. I hope many more people will listen to this wonderful song in the future. From a Japanese fan
Eric Benet definitely great artist this was a time when R&B was great especially bad boy artist like 112 ,I used see Eric with Halle a lot on Melrose ave
Eric Benet is a great musician. So talented, full of talents but he didn't have the career that he deserves beacause of nature of his relationship with Halle berry.fourtunatly he is never broken, he still singing and impressing us with his extraordinary voice .
Toto won t blame me...... I mean ,i did not know the original is from them but...... I need to say that this version is more groovy.... When i heard the intro for the first time................ My GOODNESS. 😇😇❤❤🙏🙏
When your amazing but people sleeps on you .. he was one of the great that was slept on .. he was around when there was Prince , and Micheal , stiff competition, rough he was beautiful and talented. One of the most beautiful black men ever.
I don't believe I ever heard this song, but WOW! Eric Benet knocks it out of the park again! And Faith Evans is fantastic! We have an excess of female rappers with very little singing skills. Probably they make big money rapping about sex, money and getting things. These are real artists here! Kids need to listen and learn real singing!
I love this video. It tells an awesome (but sad) story that depicted many reactions from onlookers between the impact of the crash and his landing on the ground.
I almost thought this video was a fever dream. I remember seeing it on one of those 90’s pages and at first glance & no other one, I thought all the women were in a jealous shock cause he was with Faith Evans. Lol, my parents played this religiously growing up
