Mance Lipscomb was born right down the road from my house. One of his earliest jobs was driving a buggy for the legendary Texas Ranger, Frank Hamer. If he could hear Eric Bibb lay this out, Mance would come back to life snd start all over again. Bless these fine, gifted American treasures. 🙏🏽

I sat in front of Mance Lipscomb in 1969-70. He looked me straight in the eyes for 1/2 of " Goin' back to Texas". It was one of my most memorable moments. Those men were giants. He hove a song forward like train.
His guitar intro is classic blues guitar picking, but his voice immediately blew me away. His version of this song is incomparable. I saved this version to my collection. The fact that it was live is even more impressive.

I think it sad in a way that a contemporary can play music better that the creator of that music. In this case however I believe that if Mance Lipscomb were alive today he would be would be pleased with this wonderful rendition of his music.
Its pretty interesting - from standard, tune the low E down to Db - the rest of the strings go down a half-step. Call it Drop Db? 6 - Db 5 - Ab 4 - Db 3 - Gb 2 - Bb 1 - Eb Capo at the 2nd
