@@ChrisVanVliet I've been fortunate enough to interview a lot of Pro Wrestlers and like you I like to keep very casual and make them welcome. However man, you kill every single interview you do. I've interviewed Scott Steiner, Foley, Matt Hardy, Flair and Bischoff. He was an amazing guy. I am just in awe of your professionalism. I'm loving this channel. WWE needs you. Not Sam Roberts or Peter Rosenberg. Please keep this going!!
I agree! Chris is pretty great at letting the guests actually talk, instead of trying to make himself be heard. I love that about his interviewing style. Keep killing Chris! -A new subscriber 🙂✌🏾
@@ChrisVanVliet The way you interact with the guests, especially with the ones who don't break character and try to keep kayfabe alive is out of this world. I saw your interview with MJF and I was blown away.
I love Eric. I could listen to him for hours and hours. The only thing he is wrong, and I do mean dead wrong about, is he will one day be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. He is without a doubt, aside from Vince himself, the biggest non-wrestler to not be inducted at this point. He left a lasting impression that is still being felt 17 years later. That's insane.
Hes one of the only people i see in these interviews that doesnt hesitate to admit when they were wrong or how they were wrong. Unlike 99% of ppl that ALWAYS point blame to someone else or make excuses/sob stories about something else to attempt to justify the situation somehow lol. Loved his wwe network dvd, just a normal ambitious dude that snuck into the back door of a large company who ended up taking that company to its highest point, who just loves mountains, southern rock, motorcycles, peace, and fishing... never heard him say shitty things about any and everybody like cornette and the other 99% love to do either. The only thing ppl say bad about him is from how he did business. Thoss same people never made a company as much money as he has neither so... 🤷♂️
you know it's funny when Eric was general manager of Raw he tried to make changes creatively and whenever he made a major change they would humiliate him on national TV up until they finally "de-throned" him. The fact is Eric is a lot smarter than Vince and Vince secretly hates him. Because there's a good chance Eric would have beat him in the Monday Night Wars if it wasn't for the AOL/Time Warner deal.
Warrior JWR I wouldn’t say “beat him”....he won rounds 8 and 9 of a championship bout that’s all. You do realize out of all those years that the NWA and WCW tried to compete with the WWF....they finally won in the ratings for a year and a half all while using WWF guys ha ha ha!....that was 20 years ago 🤦🏽♂️. Only smarks get a rise out of that. In the end after their little 83 week run...they went back to being WCW....a second rate company in comparison.
Eric Bishoff is a genius. So hip to the younger crowd even at 70 years old. Turning Roman Heel pretty much relates to the Hogan heel turn. Obviously he’s no where near hogan but you get the point.
Could be because Eric's connections at Fox? He probably is there for the transition so the deal is going through before they start to reconsider. So it's likely this won't be permanent as much as it's a face lift. Vince still makes the rules which means shit won't change
With all of this Roman Reigns talk, I think him getting cheered as a heel is better than him being hated as a face. Almost 100% of guys that get to be heel end up finding their own vibe and confidence. Look at the Usos, they were trash faces forever and then they went heel and had the best matches of their careers. While people boo faces, they DO still respond to and respect when a heel is being a heel. The modern wrestling fan has the capacity to appreciate great heel work but also play along. Jinder Mahal isn't getting booed for being a heel, he's getting booed because they don't like him. Guys like Kevin Owens gets booed because he does great heel work, but he gets cheers when he speaks the truth. People appreciate that.
Or WWE is working everyone by breaking their own rules, he's displayed as a babyface, but he gets more boos than most heels... Maybe he's the top heel and not the top face?
FACE REALITY What's an internet fan? Because that sounds like a descriptor for damn near every person who tunes in. You'd have to be an internet fan to have the network, correct?
Byzel I don't think we're getting worked. I just think that fans appreciate when the character feels real and not a guy reading lines. I know dickshit is gonna smack his keyboard at me for saying this again.... but KEVIN OWENS is a great heel. He's works well in the ring, he can talk, get people to boo, but he goes the extra mile and talks shit WHILE wrestling. Not many people do that. It's a weird thing with heels. You boo them because they are doing unfair things and patting themselves on the back for it, but you have to appreciate how well they're doing it. That make sense?
That fish upstream comparison Eric used is honestly the best example I've heard of fan exhaustion/disapproval (to be clear I actually like Roman, think hes a solid worker just forced on us - thus backlash that at times blinds ppl to the fact Roman is actually very solid). His whole spiel was 100% on point.
I've actually met Roman Reigns in real life during a meet and greet. He's a chill nice guy. It really was just bad timing unfortunately. A lot of people forget that the Royal Rumble that he won was the same one where Daniel Bryan got screwed over and eliminated early. A year earlier Roman beat Kane's elimination record and the fans were behind him.
It's the John Cena dilemma, When john started getting the big push on his face run is when people started hating him. If he would have won matches once a night instead of like 3 that first night, he would have had a much bigger following. The same is happening to roman with the constant push
@@TheAwesomeOne560 it's human nature to hate on something when it's getting pretty successful.cena still has a huge following probably the biggest as of right now.
@14:24 is exactly why hes on Smackdown. Its funny how he said, he wonders what they're gonna do once the ratings dip. Never did he think he'd be the answer 😏
KiLL WiLLv2 yes and no why because I said that because of the reign of terror aka triple h world heavyweight championship run so boring at the time and yes Easy e was a awesome heel gm
I saw this interview last year but, I came back today after hearing that Eric and Heyman just got hired as execs. I hope they do allow him to turn Roman a heel. That would definitely be the beginning of a fresh start. Let's go Easy-E ; )
American Patriot yeah because road dogg is one of the wwe writers who blocks you on Twitter if you don't like the story he's writing... Yes you read this right.
I very rarely say this but what a fantastic interviewer. Just perfect timing on everything and genuinely seemed interested in Bischoff’s responses and not just thinking about what he’s gonna ask next. Great job!
Chris you always give the best interviews. High energy and just an upbeat friendly presence that naturally draws the person hes interviewing, into him. Think that's why you have had all the success. Keep up the good work, Chris!
Say what you want to say about Bischoff. He helped create a generation of great wrestling that will always be memorable. He's made his mistakes but because of him, people will never forget the impact Bischoff has made in the late 90's.
Just found your interviews and they are great. Thanks for not interrupting the person you interview. You make them the star, and in turn make yourself a star. Great job.
@@ChrisVanVliet -As a wrestling fan, I love the info and personality you get for the wrestlers. Keep up the good work, they seem to trust you, that why I think they open up more in your interview then others I have seen. I am glad I found your channel.
CVV: Would a Heel-Turn help him (Roman Reigns), because he does have that Momentum.EB: Iwish the would turn him Heel, I wish they would embrace that.CVV: Will we ever see you back in WWE, as GM or something like that?EB: No, I think that ship has sailed brother...….One year later, Erik Bishoff is the Executive Director of Smack Down.
As an outsider looking in to WWE programming, I haven't been watching on the regular since mid 2014, it is refreshing to hear someone like Bischoff not kiss ass to the WWE. I'm so tired of hearing ex performers having to make excuses for the shit product and justify Roman etc. It's probably due to them not having a union and relying on them Legend contracts.
Raw like ecw would be great and under paul heyman would be gold and in the state of Philadelphia would be diamond platinum gold all precious metals combined.....
This was one of the best wrestling interviews I've seen in years! WWE needs to hire Bischoff to be the Head of Creative so they have someone in there that's not afraid to tell Vince, "No! That's stupid!"
Great content! Having listened to many shoot / interviews with people from the industry it's nice to feel like you get unique questions / responses in.
One day I hope chris can do great long form interviews with wrestlers about the art of the business, like an inside the actors studio type thing. I love how he avoids gossipy trash talk.
Vince won't let Bischoff turn Roman heel. He still has to report to him and we all know better. And if they were to turn him heel, who is there to take his place as the top babyface of SD? No offense to him, but I doubt it could be Kofi. Ambrose left, AJ was moved back to RAW, Orton hasn't felt like an actual main event star in years. Maybe Bryan? Though his situation is rather similar to Orton's. There's noone to take his place.
Chris, thank you so much. You're killin' it, my friend! Love listening to Easy E and his views. He is a part of; in my opinion, the richest part of Wrestling history. Thanks again.
Yes Bischoff gets it, Roman is pushed down our throats. He does so much but they keep him as an underdog instead of a monster like Goldberg. I'm not sure why he talked about letting the fans decide at 8:00. If anything they're ignoring the fans reaction to Roman and know they want him to be a good guy no matter what, and that's how they're pushing him down out throats.
if eric bischoff was romans manager it would get him over as a heal big time! Ive applied to be a writer many times one day it might happen. New subscriber here enjoy the interviews.
He's smart when he says "you can't analyze what's going on unless you know the other pieces." People want to act like they know what's best for the wrestler but you don't know if he or she can be pushed or are able to be pushed. Also about Smackdown going to Fox and if they'll be able to switch wrestlers on each show because they're on rival stations. It's amazing on how much knowledge Easy E still has.
