Eric Bischoff on WHY Dave Meltzer is a Useful Idiot 

I don't know, bro. With as backward as the world is, Meltzer would end up President of the United States if he was in politics.

He's self-employed - I think the only times he ever has landed a job, he was let go pretty quick. He basically just writes a gossip fanzine about wrestling. I'm surprised that people are so surprised by this "exposing" of him - I thought everyone knew for years that he was a stooge. Bret Hart even mentions in his book (which is almost 20 years old now) that he hated Meltzer but spoke to him because he knew Meltzer would publish Bret's version of the Montreal screwjob as fact. Flair, Heyman, Jericho and others have benefitted greatly from working Meltzer over the years. In a way it's a shame, because Dave's condition means he can't really even understand the concept of journalistic integrity, and the vultures in wrestling take advantage of that fact to push their agendas. He really is a useful idiot.

If you go back there where not loads of bad stories coming out about Punk.

It's generally understated how many betas are out there that simply will never think for themselves. They've been around forever, the internet just helped them find each other and an alpha to do their thinking for them than any in person institution ever could.

That's why I get mad when people defend Dave by saying "he's just stating his opinion" or "people should think for themselves". If Meltzer gives a match 7 stars it's going to have a trickle down effect, every wrestling youtuber is going to post about it and soon enough people are going to get persuaded into thinking that way. And if you dare have a difference in opinion you get called a "mark" or "cornette stan". Dave has done more harm to the culture of the wrestling business than anything else. He's single handedly convinced fans that characters and storylines don't matter and that it's all about "workrate" and trying to have a 5 star match.

I subbed to WrestleLamia years ago but haven’t clicked on any of their vids in years, because they often cite stuff from that paper.

To be fair this is a general problem with people with beta mindsets who have both a low self-esteem and a desire to be popular. These people will always cling to anybody who has a position of authority that will validate that what they like is really the best and any other position is game to be attacked. I used to think when you see people just verbatim repeating the exact same line from some review or reporter might be bots. But then you realize in plenty of these cases, some of these people really are just that much of a doormat.

Why don’t you just listen to episodes? And if you only want to listen to specific episodes you can look at the date stamp on the video and work out from their which episode it’s from. It’s not hard, it’s very simple

Conrad comes off as someone without a real personality and just becomes who he is around at the time.

Meltzer's star system is weird to begin with. Even if it was Cornette using it, who exactly designated just how much actual quality a match or storyline has based on quarters of stars? Dave, to my knowledge, has never properly explained his star system to anyone in which a valid consensus could be agreed upon by both he and whoever he explains it to. I'd really be interested to know why he thinks Omega/Okada was on par with Flair/Steamboat with his rating system.

There's also the fact that Dave massively inflated the stars he gives out so much that when you see 5 stars you're not even sure of the quality of the match at that point
